By the grace of justification we have union with God thru Christ, and in the communion of saints, empowered by His grace, merits, life, & in the Spirit to attain to eternal salvation on glory!
Jn 15:5 apart from Christ ? nothing!
Phil 4:13 with Christ? all

Our good works after we receive the grace of justification are transformed by grace and performed in grace united with Christ and given life of the spirit because of God's grace operating in us!

If one is going to cite scripture to answer this question about assurance, I would simply refer to such passages as Exodus 3:16, Acts 3:13 and 7:32 in conjunction with Matthew 22:32. But such a citation might upset some who claim that the people from OT times were not saved.

If God is the God of the living not the dead then Abraham, Isaac and Jacob had to be living well after their physical death.
Love of God that we can experience and feel comes through His body loving us and we loving His body.
Eighteen months ago, we bought a degraded orchard. My wife had remained in India, but I came back to NZ to manage sale of our existing home and the transfer of the orchard to us, and to begin some restorative repairs on the property to make it suitable for tenancy. From another Christian church family, to whom I had lent my painting tressels to use while I was away, we inherited a tenant to occupy the house while I returned to India for another 6 months, after which both my wife and I returned to our orchard. While away we needed someone to mow our orchard. I offered to pay a neighbouring Christian farm-worker, who was also attending the same church as us, to keep our orchard grass in subjection. When we returned, I asked him how much I owed for his work. He said we owed nothing. His wife had suggested to him that they should bless us with his work as a gift. These two families meet with us weekly to study the scriptures. We give to them: citrus fruit and feijoas from our trees, my labour as a carpenter to help with their house renovations and constructing a structure for the Christmas play written by one of those husbands, cooking the meals that we eat together on our Bible study nights, praying for their concerns, etc. And they give generously to us: lending us trailers to move orchard items around, cooking for those meetings sometimes, praying for our concerns, etc. This no strings attached giving and receiving is us feeling Jesus loving us through them, and them feeling Jesus loving them through us.
I suggest in the Spirit of Jesus you develop a habit of giving freely of your resources, skills, time and attention to Christians you know, until you find some Christians who love to reciprocate with the same generosity. Then you will tangibly feel God’s love for you.

and some of the answers given to you seem to fall short in my humble opinion. for instance of course G-D cares if you smoke, and curse, think of it this way ( I should only be using the Bible for G-D'S Word is like a Fire and a Hammer, yet I will try and reason with you)
we are the Temple of G-D, do you suppose Jewish people would be welcome smoking and cursing in the Temple of G-D? of course not!
smoking and cursing and such is of the flesh and not of the Spirit and by inference in deaths domain ( the devils kingdom)
I will hit you with a positive, your conviction is another thing I resinate with.
like your fight against the flesh talking about your genuine struggle, like when you read the Bible and seem to be falling short, your conviction is a good sign (perhaps a sure sign) you are of the Called in CHRIST JESUS, so stay the fight.

there is a movie called the Gray I believe about wolves, and a plane crash the main actor asks G-D for help and then proceeds to make choices that lead him right into the den of the wolves, in the very last scene he says to
G-D, never mind I will do it myself..(paraphrased)

sometimes I wonder, do we love JESUS or simply have a fear of hell to motivate us. your journey will flush out what you really believe or love. ( our trials are more precious than Gold)
stay the course, get the education from the LORD JESUS, this is a war brother, a serious war, not for the faint of heart. endure until the end. I can not speak for G-D, yet maybe the plans HE has for you require you to clean your act up little more, so do not worry to much about preaching the gospel on the streets. Although your conviction is a good sign like I said, and certainly follow JESUS if you believe HE is Calling you to ................!!!

not sure you want to do that. yet I would suggest relax, forget about this want, want for nothing. enjoy G-D, do all you can to draw near to HIM then one day when you do not expect it, perhaps JESUS..............

smoking will kill you, my mother died of lung cancer, it does cause cancer, stop now before its too late, if you stop now, in 5 years , statistically you will have the same chances of catching cancer as someone who never smokes, its reversible, I hold this from specialists I worked with. if you continue I tell you its not a pleasant death! God gave you Life, Live it to the max. God knows its an addiction but at least you have to try. you can break this habbit as you have done with others. and NO its not O/K to carry on what you do knowing you should not.
Dont forget Jesus spoke of rest in him, trust him, believe me he is there for you and wont let you down in the hard moments. if you try and want bo better yourfelf if all God wants a Changed heart, perfection comes later, in this life?, I doubt it very much but we have to better ourselves, it is a path not an easy one, Jesus said so, he is always right.
