Sen. John Fetterman isn’t waiting for his party to quietly sort out its Platner problem. Reacting to the r∗pe allegation now engulfing Maine’s Democratic Senate nominee, Fetterman said 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 should personally apologize for putting his political weight behind “𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳”.
Sanders was one of Platner’s earliest and loudest boosters, campaigning for him and helping build the movement behind his primary win. Since Politico’s report surfaced, Sanders has dodged repeated questions from reporters about the allegation rather than address it.
This isn’t the first time Fetterman has broken from the herd on Platner — he already called him a 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐩 a month earlier, after reports surfaced of secret sexting accounts, before Politico published accuser Jenny Racicot’s account of being forced into sex while drunk.
Fetterman, who has split from progressives on multiple issues since his 2022 health scare, is once again the one Democrat willing to say what the rest of his party won’t — even about a candidate it recruited.
