John Calvin acted informally as the architect of the prosecution of Michael Servitus.
Even though he did not hold the official legal title. In the 16th century, the legal framework of Geneva required a highly specific procedure that forced Calvin to operate behind the scenes to launch the case.
case. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The trial of Michael Servetus functioned through a distinct legal structure: [1, 2, 3]

1. The Use of a "Front Man" Accuser
Under the Geneva legal code at the time, an accuser who brought capital charges against someone had to be physically imprisoned alongside the accused. If the charges were proven false, the accuser would suffer the intended penalty instead. [1, 2]
  • Because Calvin was essential to the daily operations of the city and in poor health, he did not formally submit the allegations himself.
  • Instead, Calvin hired his personal secretary, Nicholas de la Fontaine, to act as the nominal, formal prosecutor.
  • Fontaine entered prison with Servetus to officially initiate the legal proceedings. [1, 2, 3, 4]

2. Calvin Framed the Legal Charges
Though Fontaine's name was on the paperwork, Calvin drafted the actual legal and theological indictment. He authored the 38 specific articles of heresy used by the court to cross-examine Servetus. Once the trial moved past the preliminary phase, Fontaine was released from prison, and the civil government’s official Public Prosecutor, Claude Rigot, took over the state's case. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

3. The Court's Enemy-turned-Ally Dynamics
The civil magistrates running the trial (the Petit Conseil) actually disliked Calvin and were actively trying to strip him of his influence in Geneva. However, because they wanted to prove that Geneva was just as fiercely orthodox as any Catholic city, they used Calvin's legal and theological brilliance to secure the conviction. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Calvin was brought into the courtroom as the chief theological expert witness. In practice, he used his legal training to aggressively debate Servetus on the stand, functioning as the intellectual engine driving the prosecution. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

God the author of sin? what kind of warped mentality besets you?
It isn't a warped mentality to believe God.
1 John 3:4: "sin is lawlessness".
to me this is blasphemy.
That's because you cannot understand the fact or the scripture that tells you that.

Man is the author of sin,
So,we are to obey man's law? And disobedience is Sin?
the commandments were given to prevent sin so we know what not to do, so we know what sin is and NOT DO IT !

example:
New King James Version
but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ Gen 3:3

Don't you see it in context? What does the idea of "heaven" communicate to you? Jesus taught his disciples to store up their treasures in heaven, and he explains why.

Matthew 6:19-21 states: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”

Given that what is stored in heaven is permanent and eternal, this idea informs Paul's message. Ephesians 2:6 speaks of believers being “raised with Christ” and “seated with Him in heavenly places.” This speaks of our current status as those who have an eternal Savior who will raise us up. Ephesians 2:7 . . . so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Bottom line: to be alive in Christ is to have the promise of eternal life. To be dead in transgressions is to not have that promise.

Sorry, that is not the point of the passage at all, Paul concerned himself with exhorting the churches, reminding them either the benefits or consequences of behaviour, the end of the time of transition from one age to the next (Romans).

"Eternal life" if you dig deep into the etymology of the phrase actually is quality of life which again has to do with the the here and now.

I am actually a little surprised you are trying to make this leap to hell.

Hardly an unbiased source, The Puritan Board... and it is the information that is not stated that is usually the problem.

Do not try to change the subject saying I don't understand or interpret what I wrote or did not , just admit you made a mistake saying "God is the author of Sin" I know sin ls lawlesness but God has nothing to do with sin.

God is certainly sees your heart and know what you really think. Sometimes its best to say nothing , think twice before accusing God to be the author of sin.

What is difficult for me on this forum is having to constantly defend God's own words. As Christians we should all know God is NOT the author of Sin.

I'm not changing the subject. I'm hoping you'll understand what God himself tells you.

When you refuse to admit you are wrong, and will not take God at his word, especially as regards the fact Sin is what God said it is,you are incapable of discussing anything in the Bible.

Because you don't understand the rudimentary part of the narrative itself.

And your arrogance and pride, in refusing to acknowledge your ignorance,is why you will always be wrong in any Apologetics topic you contribute to.

Unless or until you humble yourself first. And admit you refuse to accept Sin is defined by God,because Sin is the aftermath of disobedience to His law.

Good day.

Scripture?
Proverbs 16:4
The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.

... But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—

You need to harmonize Pro. 16:4 and Rom. 9:20-21 with Deut. 30:19, Matt. 23:37, John 3:16 and 1Tim. 2:3-4.

Certainly. I'll take one verse. Because the Salvific verses will naturally be included. John 3:16.
Because 1Corinthians 2 tells us,the natural mind, man, cannot understand the things of God, those things must be spiritually discerned, those ones would be to whom verse 16 applies.

All others not possessed of the Holy Spirit that gives understanding remain hardened in that natural minded state unable to understand the things of God.

Scripture?
he does not know scripture don't bother, he never answered me with it. He is ignorant of scripture in general or anything Christ, the Highest authority in heaven and earth ever said.

I think that is the consequence of seeing scripture with 🌷 glasses on.
It narrows how one understands The Message.
