we are not saved on faith alone. Matthew 7:21 when Jesus explicitly tells us how we enter the kingdom of heaven.

Hint it requires an action, in which action means to do works. A will requires work.

Do religious men decide what works you are to do?

Or, does God provide unexpected situations in which we find ourselves and we must choose to do a work?

The Holy Spirit is the gift promised to those who are water baptized for the remission of sins.

Acts 2:38

Peter told them, “You must repent and every one of you must be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ, so that you may have your sins forgiven and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For this great promise is for you and your children—yes, and for all who are far away, for as many as the Lord our God shall call to himself!”

"Spirit baptism" is a term describing a metaphysical event that is not, cannot and has not been seen outside the New Testament age.

IOW, it's a term that whatever the next Pentecostal says it is.

Now that I have answered your question, answer this.

What defines spirit baptism to you.\?
Are you one of those who say baptism with the Matthew 28:19-20 formula is Wrong? That is the way the church has done it

Just narrowing down what the source is for the primary doctrine.

Will I rely on a letter from Luke to a fellow named Theophilus to establish the doctrine of the church?

Luke also wrote the book of Acts and will I use the book of Acts to establish church doctrine?

So who did Jesus send to teach us all things was it Luke or Mark?

Paul.

Try not to confuse 'descriptive' passages of scripture with 'prescriptive' passages of scripture. These good deeds done are the result of, not the means or basis of procuring eternal life.

Again, patient continuance in well doing, seeking for glory, honor, and immortality; (vs. 7) is not at all set forth as the means of their procuring eternal life, but as a description of those to whom God does render life eternal.

*Notice that ALL who receive eternal life are described as such, everyone who does good (vs. 10). Good deeds flow from a heart that is saved and evil deeds flow from a heart that is unsaved. Verse 8 - but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth but obey unrighteousness--indignation and wrath.

*Notice that ALL who do not receive eternal life are described as such, everyone who does evil (vs. 9). What those passages convey is that though our deeds are judged by God, it's not the good deeds themselves which are the basis or means by which we procure eternal life, but the type of deeds expose our heart condition and salvation status.

These good deeds done out of faith are the fruit of, but not the root of salvation. If Paul wanted to teach that we are saved by works, then he would have clearly stated that we are saved through faith and works in Ephesians 2:8 and that we are justified by faith and works in Romans 5:1 but that is clearly NOT what Paul said. *Also see (Romans 3:24-28; 4:4-6; 11:6; Titus 3:5; 2 Timothy 1:9 etc..).

Those who are justified have been sanctified set apart/made holy in standing before God positionally in Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:11 - Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 1:2 - To the church of God, which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus.

Yet we also see progressive or ongoing sanctification in which the reality of that holiness becomes more and more evident in our actions, words, thoughts, attitudes, and motives. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, - For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor.

So, becoming washed, sanctified and justified in Christ is a one-time event, yet abstaining from sexual immorality is not a one-time event. Here is how I understand it. The believer possesses a positional, judicial standing of righteousness in Christ and, second, an ongoing process of growth in practical, progressive holiness which becomes increasingly evident in our actions, words, thoughts, attitudes, and motives.

Amen! Now try not to confuse positional and practical sanctification, with self righteousness.

Who said otherwise? Reformation plantation? lol I can see that the RC church has really done a number on you.
for sure it don't say "render to every man according to FAITH ALONE"!

thks

So, everything that I explained to you in post #3,002 just went right over your head. :( You don't seem to understand what believers mean by FAITH ALONE. We don't mean faith that remains alone/barren of works which is not genuine faith but a bare profession of faith/dead faith. (James 2:14) We mean faith that trusts in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. (Romans 4:5-6; Ephesians 2:8,9)

What part of faith is accounted for righteousness/God imputes righteousness apart from works, along with saved by grace through faith, not works do you not understand? Again, the Bible makes it clear in many passages of scripture that man is saved through belief/faith - "apart from additions or modifications." (John 1:12; 3:15,16,18,36; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26; Acts 10:43; 13:38-39; 15:7-9; 16:31; 26:18; Romans 1:16; 3:24-28; 4:5-6; 5:1-2; 10:4; 1 Corinthians 1:21; Galatians 2:16; 3:6-14, 26; Ephesians 2:8,9; Philippians 3:9; 2 Timothy 3:15; Hebrews 10:39; 1 John 5:13 etc..).

Now you don't need to "add" the word "alone" next to "belief/faith" in each of those passages of scripture in order to figure out that the words, "belief/faith" stand alone in connection with receiving eternal life/salvation. Hence, FAITH ALONE. Do these many passages of scripture say belief/faith "plus something else?" Plus, works? NO. So, then it's faith (rightly understood) in Jesus Christ alone. ✝️

So which parts of the Bible do you agree with? And how do you make that judgment call?
The way I read and understand the scripture is purely from a subjective viewpoint.

Because the gospels disagree with each other in their resurrection accounts, I reject the idea that God wrote
the gospels.

When I read Luke's introduction to his letter to Theophilus below.

Luke 1:3
It seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for
you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus.

Luke's account was not directed to a church but to a person.

I do not accept that Luke was told what to write by the Lord or that the Lord, had guided what Luke wrote.

Does that mean that what Luke wrote was not important for everyone, of course not.

In the case of Paul it is plainly obvious that Paul was heavily guided by the Holy Spirit.

There is a marked difference in the weight of certain letters in the N.T and their impact on doctrine.

I never read 2 John or 3 John and I do not regard those two letters as scripture.

If the gospels completely agreed, there would be no need for four.

And if that were true, you would have less reason to think they were inspired rather than colluded/copied.

Then what do we have with the NT?
We should all stop arguing with each other and go home?

The Gospels may seem to contradict each other about some details.

It's a test from God.

To see if you can endure until a clarification is given to you.

It is a test to see how well we know who and what God really is.

Are you one of those who say baptism with the formula is Wrong? That is the way the church has done it
When you have seven verses in the N.T that define baptism only in the name of Jesus Christ.

Then one outlier a verse (Matthew 28:19-20) that states the baptism is in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

It sure looks like a later theological addition to the text of Matthew.

The N.T is about the arrival of Jesus Christ and His perfect sacrifice and the fulfillment of all things in Jesus.

We are solely focused on Jesus in the N.T and not on the Father.

The only name under heaven by which we can be saved is the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).

We cannot know the Father except by knowing Jesus Christ.

John 5:37
And the Father who sent Me, He has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time nor seen His form.

We have never heard the Father speak we only have what Jesus told us.

John 6:46
Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father.

Jesus is the Lord of heaven and earth not the Father and the Father handed everything over to the Son.

Daneil 7:13-14
I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man (Jesus) was coming.
And He came up to the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him (the Father). And to Him was given dominion,
glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations and men of every language might serve Him (the Son, Jesus).

We boast in Jesus and in no one else.

People for some reason do not see salvation as a free gift?

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Sadly church tradition overrides what is plainly written in the scripture.

Church tradition teaches do this or else but scripture tells us Jesus is the sole reason for our salvation.

Then what do we have with the NT?
A collection of letters in which some are lightly influenced by the Holy Spirit (synoptic gospels).

Then there are letters that are written by the Holy Spirit directly (Paul's letters), Peter and Paul tell you this.

Paul is the source of doctrine, the church, and the Christian life.

Ok.... street gang Christians need not apply.

"One Lord, one faith, one baptism."
Ephesians 4:5

How many baptisms?
One? Two? Three?

How many?

Why do we see in Acts 1:5 the following?

"For John baptized with water, but in a few days
you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

John the Baptist also predicted the same thing about water being replaced for baptism.
Look it up. It is there!

So?

Why do we still see water baptisms performed by men today?

Because it has become a tradition of men.

The name of the Father ,John 1,is the name of the Holy Ghost and the Son, Jesus.
1 John 2:23
Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also.

1 John 4:2
By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;

1 John 4:15
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

1 John 5:12
He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

No one can be saved by confessing the Father or the Holy Spirit.

There was only one name that is confessed by us and that is the name of Jesus Christ.

You have never seen the NT expertly exegeted from the original languages.

It is not easy to find these days.
Yet, God provided for those who never stop seeking.

I found what I am about to recommend through answered prayer.
Answered only seconds after the prayer was made.

I never had a prayer answered so quickly before, or since.
Literally seconds after my request was made known.

Here was the answer -

This is false. Abraham required an action (works) to show God he was willing to sacrifice his son. He was saved after the fact of his works aka doing what God told him to do.
If works are required before one can be saved, how could the the thief on the cross be saved? He embraced Jesus by faith and then died within a few hours, he had no chance to do any good works or to obey any command of God.
