I do not understand why people would think obedience is not important, and not required, and not obtainable.
But it is because they will not let go of the flesh but still want to enjoy sin and say they cannot abstain from sin so they can enjoy the flesh.
That is why they love OSAS so they can believe they can never fall so they can enjoy sin.
Which the Bible says they are lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God and do not come to the truth.
There are hypocrites who make sin their top priority.
These people hold unto sin and is not repentance and the blood of Christ does not wash their sins away.
And those who are led of the Spirit who make God's ways their top priority.
If they sin they correct it and move forward.
Some people will sin with the attitude God is merciful and will forgive so they do not put in the effort to abstain from sin avoiding responsibility.
But this is wrong and dangerous.
It is no different with the Old Testament and the New Testament which they were cut off if they did not obey.
Which if they do not continue in the goodness of God they will be cut off.
A Spirit led person will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh and God will give them an escape from temptation.
Those that deny the power thereof have not started in the goodness of God.
1Sa 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
1Sa 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
Obeying is better than sacrifice.
If a person does not obey to turn from sin the sacrifice of Jesus does not apply.
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry, because a person is asserting their own authority to do it their way.
People who do not obey fall in to this situation.
You hold unto sin this is you which you become your own idol.
Act 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Act 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
Gal 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
Heb 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.
Joh 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
Of course we have to obey for we have to do the will of God to allow the Spirit to lead us to be Christlike.
People that deny the power thereof enjoying sin are doing their own will.
Psa 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
Pro 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil not enjoy it for if they intentionally sin holding on to sin then punishment will come upon them.
Which it is a fearful thing to fall in to the hands of the living God.
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Luk 1:50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
Act 9:31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.
Rom 3:18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Rom 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith.
Be not highminded, but fear:
Rom 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
These same people will also say there is no fear of the Lord in the New Testament.
But believing in OSAS they think they cannot fall despite their sins so there is nothing to fear for there will not be punishment.
But Jesus said fear God for if you do not obey He can cast you to hell.
There is no difference between the covenants for if you do not obey not shunning sin you will be cut off.
People who deny the power thereof were not part of the program to begin with.
They were holding on to sin before Christ, when they accepted Christ, and after, taught by a preacher they cannot abstain from sin, or it does not affect them, damning souls instead of saving them.
