Want to share this, The Aglaonema I posted Where leaves are drooping, I cut it in 7 parts a month ago and it turn out well. Almost a month now and the plant I cut off is still alive, I put it in a glass container and the 6 trunks I planted are showing new shoots. They like to be watered, now I know.

Thank you, no, I don't have the elephant plant, though I wish I had, I think that is golden pothos, I have no problem with mites or flies but only with ants. Seem so hard to eliminate them completely. What kind of alcohol spray you use? Is it just normal isopropyl that we buy in the drug store or supermarkets?

Yes , that is the spray...
I thought I saw elephant ears lol , dont know why they call it that because they look nothing like elephant ears lol...

20200806_183059 (600x800) - Copy.jpg20200806_183059 (600x800) - Copy.jpgThis is such a huge picture. I resized it as small as I could get it. Here is my one and only succulent. Look at the little baby. So if one of these little 'arms' fell off, I can just stick it back in the dirt and it will regrow? Wow! I love that there is a little snapdragon trying to grow in this pot too. This is like a super tiny pot.

yes it will grow 😍 just like that, but you have to dry the ends a little bit before you insert into the dirt or else will become mushy and die eventually. Your pot Looks so good. 😍

It's an interesting thing.

I've read for years that coffee grinds are good for plants, and that McDonald's even donates their old coffee grinds (at least, before the pandemic) for fertilizing gardens.

And then... I found an article stating that the very reason the plants that produce caffeine are doing so is because it's a natural toxin that kills off the competing vegetation around them. Coffee grounds still contain caffeine after being used and are also highly acidic, which is deadly for some species, so using coffee grinds will actually kill off some varieties of plants.

Similar thing with tonic water (ask me how I know.) I had some neighbors who were just renting the house down the street for a few days, and when they left, they gave me some kitchen items they hadn't used up, including a couple sealed bottles of tonic water.

I'm not a drinker and didn't want to waste it, so good old Google had said that tonic water was "good for plants." Sure it is.

My plants started to wilt within just an hour or two of using it. :( Fortunately I noticed right away and was able to save them by thoroughly flushing out the soil.

As much as I'd love to use "natural" fertilizers, so far I've stuck to diluted Miracle Gro (I dilute it just a tad more than recommended to avoid burning the plants with too much of a supposed good thing,) and for my little indoor "garden", that seems to work best for now.
I did something similar with a bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol that I mistook for a bottle of spring water. I tried to flush everything as soon as I noticed "something smells like isopropyl..." but my dragon plant, which is supposedly unkillable, lost some of its lower leaves. (there's no drainage in its traylike pot).
On the bright side, I think the dirt has been thoroughly sterilized.

aw sorry no pics I dont really do pics on forums.
Im kinda bored so been on this forum a lot today I should get off and do something. but then I see a thread and go huh thats interesting. and then im on here for an hour or more.

plants are my passion...but I have learned one thing is that it does matter where you put them. if a plant likes a place it will thrive.
as for food, if you have a worm farm, then worm juice is very good for indoor plants.

acid loving plants include gardenia, camellia, azaela, daphne, ferns. blueberry.
lime loving plants wont like coffee grounds, but generally those are mostly veges or herbs that you dont usually grow indoors anyway.

I usually just give my indoor plants cold tea (no milk) and it doesnt do them any harm. The tea leaves are a good mulch anyway.

i have finished reading a book called the Orchid Thief by Susan Orlean. I didnt know Orchid lovers were so obsessive. But they are. If you ever go to an orchid show you will see just how much people go for those plants. and they will try to recruit you in to their clubs. Be warned. (I have so far resisted)
I ventured into Lowes to see what they had on the clearance rack (so I can get twice as many plants) and hit the orchid jackpot. They had all their orchids on clearance and there were a few cattleyas! They had and five of the larger specimens (hopefully mature enough to bloom) and there was one seedling. I purchased the seedling and one of the larger ones was named "Thaksina Gold" so I had to have her because I have a 'golden girl'friend named Thaksina and there was a Shinaphat Diamond White Swan and other three were hybrid Cattlianthe Sagarik Wax Cluster Maroons so I just got one of those (and I'm suffering from what I'd call "orchidmania" because I'm trying to resist the compulsion of orchid greed and going back after the other two.

But now, I have to figure out how to keep them alive and blooming so I can smell them!

I don't have too many orchids, none indoors, but I will post some I have outside on the Bouquet List.

I read through the bouquet list, (loved it!) but I have to find it again...

I love houseplants and wish I could have more. I'd have a house full of them if I could. I had several, but moved and they didn't like the transition.
Since I'm not at home for a gap of the year, I hadn't kept plants for several years. This year, I received my favorite plant for Valentine's. Not long after, I purchased 2 more plants while out of state, a pothos and a sansevieria. I've had to travel with them too. If packed properly, they fly quite well! I'll have to pack them up again this fall.
Tradescantia zebrina (commonly called Wandering Jew or Inchplant) has always been my favorite.

my house plants

1. african violet
2. Peace lily (x 3)
3. Streptocarpus
4. Christmas Cactus (x3)
5. Kowhai
6. spring onion
7. venus fly trap (but on veranda)

I have several plants in pots on the verandah so not sure if that counts as indoors, I would take photo, but you just have to imagine them for now if I post the names. I would have more but just don't have the space. You need shelves or special tables for them or lots of floor room and high ceilings for the big plants. I miss the maidenhair fern that used to be in the corner of the dining room.

I've just bought a bracket so I can hang some spider plants from the outside wall of the house and there's also an ivy geranium in a bucket. Buckets are easier to water than those coir hanging baskets that just dry out all the time.

I pick flowers to put in vases just coming to the tail season of jonquils. Love the smell.

Do you have a hard time getting your Christmas Cactus to bloom?

I have an Easter Cactus that I absolutely babied during it's blooming season (cut down on watering, moved it to a colder room, covered it and made sure it had no light for 14-16 hours a day for 6 weeks as instructed by Google,) but there wasn't even a single flower bud. 😭

If it doesn't bloom this year, I'm thinking I may have to give up on it, as I specifically bought it for the flowers -- even though they only show up once a year!

@seoulsearch ...
My Christmas cactus is 12 yrs old and I only use fast draining cactus soil...Soak it once it is completly dry , and soak with water only when bone dry , repeat...I have never covered mine , I keep it in bright light but not direct sun...Dont give up on it ...I use a plant meter to test when my plants need watering , it saves on the guessing...

My Christmas Cactuses just bloomed and it's not even Christmas....it's a succulent so don't water too much but don't let it dry out either.

Keep in a warm spot. Beautiful cerise/pin blush flowers.

I found an itty bitty zebrina that was sitting out of place among the I forget whats. It was clearanced because what didn't look dried up looked like it was rotting. I pucked all of that off and watered it and what was left perked up nicely. This is my second attempt at caring for a zebrina, and if it goes well (I'm remembering it as used to having some pink in it, so I think it's supposed to be a tricolor at its healthiest), then I'll try again with the nanouk.

My african violet recently put out a cluster of pink so that I could tell what color is, but this was before the isopropyl incident so I Idk how it's going to hold up. I picked up a small peace lily, to try again, and got a thanksgiving cactus last fall so, seeing you're keep 3 each, I have a go-to for advice. Tried fly traps twice, and it's gone to the back of the line of learning to master.
