Philemon 1:6 Amplified "I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective and powerful because of your accurate knowledge of every good thing which is ours in Christ."

Do you know what is yours in Christ? Do you pray for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation? Paul thought that is was a good thing:

Ephesians 1:18-22

"I ask that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know the hope of His calling, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and the surpassing greatness of His power to us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

And God put everything under His feet and made Him head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

I wonder sometimes about the value of some of the subjects discussed on the forum. For example, John and Charles Wesley were Arminian with a bit of their own understanding added. Spurgeon was Calvinist to the core. Yet he also prayed, "Lord, save all the elect, and then elect some more." Hardly a Calvinist sentiment. Yet the Wesley brothers and Spurgeon were mighty men of God, greatly used for God's glory.

May I suggest that we focus more on truth that unites rather than doctrines that divide? It is possible to have unity without uniformity. Life would be boring if we all thought the same. But surely we can disagree without being disagreeable?

Obviously, there are central doctrines that must be fought for. Let's pick our battles carefully. Let's focus on who we are and what we have in Christ and try to avoid being divisive.

Ah unity in the church....a prayer of mine yet to be answered
Isa 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

Isa 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

Isa 28:12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Isa 28:13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
