The word, god, may be etymologically traced back to Sanskrit, where it is lost from there.

The word, el, was used by many peoples the early references to their gods. My understanding is that el may be translated as mighty one or mighty man. Elohim is mighty men, used to refer by the Hebrews as what now is God to English speaking peoples.
