Be careful sister to never say anything like this. :cautious:

You are, in effect, telling God what He cannot do.

I know that is not what you meant; nonetheless, it is, in effect, what you said.

God gave us free will, I believe the Bible teaches that. If we have such hate in our heart for a group of people, as some seem to here, I don't see God changing their minds. When you call a people "synagog of Satan" I'd say that's a hardened heart. Even when Scripture, verse after verse is shown and they simply mock the Word... We are told not to boast about our position but to win Jews to the Lord. I believe what they are doing is dangerous. I do hope they soften their heart, but if you read many of their posts there is a nerve that is hit when you mention the Jews. God still has His hand on the Jews and some are going to find out the hard way when they find where their hatred has gotten them.

Yes of course it is important that Jesus is born as king in the line of David.
He has established the line of throne of Davis forever in His heavenly kingdom, thereby fulfilling God's promise to Israel.
It does not matter that others from that line can no longer be found, because there never needs to be another king in the line of David.
The fact that Jesus' kingdom is heavenly makes it a very level playing field for us regarding ethnicity.
Actually it is a very good arrangement, but if you find it unacceptable of course you are free to keep howling about it.
Also Jesus, before Abraham, "I am".

There is no point arguing between 2 camps.

Only God can change a person s mind.

See what I mean @GaryA ? Israel runs the world trope. smh

"I'm hearing replacement theology being used to justify anti Semitic slander. I'm hearing that Jews are no longer safe in many western countries, while Muslims can say and do as they please with little consequence."

.... yeah im not seeing that in this thread or discussion though , and. Certainly haven't said any of it . So I can't really help you there ....was my point why argue with me about ehat other people said . what I was talking about is all laid out in scripture.

1 Chronicles 16:17-18 KJV
[17] And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, And to Israel for an everlasting covenant, Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, The lot of thier inheritance."

Deuteronomy 6:1, 3, 25 KJV
Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
...Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
...And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.

its not just god saying " ive promised to give you this land forever " the law of moses lays pit all of the condotions for israel when he delivered then into the land fulfilling thr promose to abraham . He never said " I won't give you a law you must keep in the land ...he said tbe opposite .

Deuteronomy 11:26-29, 31-32 KJV
[26] Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; [27] a blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:

and a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known. [29] And it shall come to pass, when the LORD thy God hath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.
[31] For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein. [32] And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.

tell me what did israel do for the next several hundred years ? And what had he said would happen if they did that? What was the curse he placed upon the mount across from the blessing ? It's all written in Moses law regarding thier land inheritance ......

jesus is not a out restoring Israel's land . He's about saving souls lost in a dying world eho will Inherit his eternal kingdom which isn't found on a map of this world

Actually I care more about what church teaches.
From the surface, it is just flesh and secular battle,
But deep down or high up, it is against spiritual enemy.

God is sovereign, He is in control of all. I just make sure I am on God's side, my local church is on God's side. Rest is out of my control, in God's control.

Meanwhile I care more about what church should but DOESN'T teach, and that happens to be the prophecies, the collapse, everything crazy going on, and the spiritual warfare behind the scenes, on a global scale, including all those stuffs I've just mentioned, which all point to the return of the Lord. I don't wanna care about those stuffs more than you do, but they're everywhere, and the church is not a hole in the ground to hide.

Many people go to their graves believing "the lies and machinations of men" because they lack the ability, desire, will to test what they have been taught, this needs to be done continually.

The baby boomers are the most inculcated so change is definitely coming.

I think God does leave some people in the lies and they reap what they sow .. I think they too suppress the truth in unrighteousness because they prefer the lies for "soulish" reasons.

I changed my mind and I know many others here as well, however they were open, objective and maintained a level of critical thinking skills, so it can happen.

Others do have some type of direct intervention from God...but even in those cases there was always some little element that did not sit right with them, and God was able to use that awareness.

A believer is nearest to God, blessed by God when the believer stands in His truth, that is what God desires, take a stand where He takes His stand, they deny themselves ultimately.

You may like this pastor he is awesome so inspiring ... I do not agree with him on some things but when it comes to dismantling dispensationalism he is top notch.

"thereby fulfilling God's promise to Israel"

What promise to Israel? Oh wait I know.....

Act 1:3
To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

Act 1:6
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the ***kingdom to Israel***?

Mat 17:11
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

Act 3:21
“whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.

Act 15:16
After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

Mat 19:28
And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Luk 22:29
And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;
Luk 22:30
That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Rom 11:11
I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
Rom 11:12
Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?

Millions of Christians disagree with you. I'm one. There is a great deal yet to be fulfilled. Have you ever considered that your interpretation could be wrong?

The are many denominations which actually still adhere to the traditional correct covenant doctrine....but then we had the invention of the Scofield Reference Bible and over time some of the weaker denominations (weak on Biblical rigour) fell for the that false book and its comments.

As well, the appeal of false doctrine is the standard too often, so numbers is probably a bad indicator not a good one.

Act 1:6
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the ***kingdom to Israel***?

Acts 1:6 and the Future Restoration of Israel

Acts 1:6 reads:

“Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”
The Greek is:

Κύριε, εἰ ἐν τῷ χρόνῳ τούτῳ ἀποκαθιστάνεις τὴν βασιλείαν τῷ Ἰσραήλ;

The key phrase is:

ἀποκαθιστάνεις τὴν βασιλείαν τῷ Ἰσραήλ

literally:

“Are You restoring the kingdom to Israel?”

The force of the passage rests on three precise elements.

1. ἀποκαθιστάνεις — “restore”

The verb is from ἀποκαθίστημι, meaning to restore, re-establish, or return something to its proper or former condition.

The idea of restoration is contained in the Greek verb itself. There is no need to appeal to a separate English word “again.”

The same verb occurs in Matthew 17:11:

“Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.”
The point is re-establishment, not the creation of something entirely new.

Thus in Acts 1:6 the apostles are asking whether Christ is about to re-establish the kingdom belonging to Israel.

2. τὴν βασιλείαν — “the kingdom”

The apostles do not ask about “a kingdom.”

They ask about:

τὴν βασιλείαν — “the kingdom.”

The definite article indicates an identifiable kingdom already familiar to both Jesus and the apostles.

This is especially significant because Acts 1:3 says that the resurrected Christ had spent forty days:

“speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.”
After forty days of direct instruction from the risen Christ, the apostles ask whether the time has now come for the kingdom to be restored to Israel.

3. τῷ Ἰσραήλ — “to Israel”

The recipient is explicitly:

τῷ Ἰσραήλ — “to Israel.”

Luke does not say:

  • to the Church,
  • to believing humanity,
  • to a new spiritual people,
  • or to a redefined “spiritual Israel.”
He says Israel.

In Luke-Acts, Israel remains the historical covenant nation descended from Jacob.

The apostles therefore ask whether Christ is about to restore the kingdom to national Israel.

Jesus corrects the timing, not the expectation

The apostles ask:

ἐν τῷ χρόνῳ τούτῳ

“at this time?”

Jesus answers:

“It is not for you to know the times or the seasons…”
The correspondence is exact.

They ask about the time of restoration.

Jesus answers concerning times and seasons.

He does not say:

“You are wrong to expect a kingdom for Israel.”

He does not say:

“Israel has been replaced by the Church.”

He does not say:

“There will be no future restoration.”

He corrects only their knowledge of its timing.

That is especially important because these men had just received forty days of post-resurrection teaching from Christ concerning the kingdom.

If their expectation of a future kingdom for Israel had been fundamentally false, Acts 1:6–7 would have been the obvious place for Christ to correct it. He does not.

The Old Testament defines what Israel’s restoration means

The Greek verb ἀποκαθίστημι establishes the idea of restoration, but the Old Testament prophets supply the content of that restoration.

Israel’s promised restoration repeatedly includes:

  • regathering from the nations,
  • return to the land,
  • national reunification,
  • a Davidic King,
  • and messianic government.
For example:

Deuteronomy 30:3–5

God promises to:

“gather thee from all the nations”
and bring Israel back:

“into the land which thy fathers possessed.”

Isaiah 11:11–12

God will:

“assemble the outcasts of Israel”
and:

“gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.”

Jeremiah 23:3–6

God promises:

“I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries…”
and immediately follows this with:

“I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign.”
Thus regathered Israel and Davidic kingship are explicitly linked.

Ezekiel 37:21–25

This passage is perhaps the clearest background to Acts 1:6.

God says:

“I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen… and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land.”
Then:

“I will make them one nation in the land.”
Then:

“one king shall be king to them all.”
Then:

“David my servant shall be king over them.”
This is precisely the prophetic pattern behind the apostles’ question:

regathered Israel + restored nation + Davidic King + kingdom.

Acts 3 confirms the restoration theme

Only two chapters later Peter says that heaven must receive Christ:

“until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets.”
The noun translated “restitution” is:

ἀποκατάστασις

which is cognate with the verb in Acts 1:6:

ἀποκαθίστημι

Acts therefore begins with the apostles asking about the restoration of the kingdom to Israel and shortly afterward speaks of a future restoration grounded in the promises of the prophets.

Conclusion

Acts 1:6 should be read exactly as written:

“Are You restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?”
The Greek establishes that:

ἀποκαθιστάνεις means restoration or re-establishment;

τὴν βασιλείαν identifies a definite and already-known kingdom;

τῷ Ἰσραήλ identifies Israel as the recipient;

and ἐν τῷ χρόνῳ τούτῳ shows that the apostles’ question concerns the timing of the restoration.

Christ’s answer addresses only the times and seasons.

The broader prophetic Scriptures then define Israel’s restoration as a real national restoration involving regathering to the land, reunification, and rule under the Davidic Messiah.

Therefore Acts 1:6 is entirely consistent with, and naturally points toward, the future earthly restoration of national, ethnic Israel under Jesus Christ, the Son of David.

I believe he is pastor in a reformed church. ;)
I really like his energy, lol!!
He must have bombed out in Greek class and Hebrew studies. For sure.
And then he surrounded himself with acolytes who must likewise be hopelessly and willfully ignorant.

The Essential Old Testament Foundation for Acts 1:6

When the apostles ask:

“Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” — Acts 1:6
they are not inventing a new doctrine. They are drawing directly from the Old Testament prophetic expectation of a restored national Israel under the Davidic Messiah.

1. 2 Samuel 7:12–16 — The Davidic Covenant

God promises David:

“I will set up thy seed after thee… and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.”
This is the foundation of the Messianic kingdom:
Davidic seed + throne + kingdom + permanence.

Acts 1:6 assumes that this kingdom promise still awaits full realization.

2. Psalm 89:3–4, 34–37 — The Covenant Cannot Be Cancelled

“I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant, Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations.”
And:

“My covenant will I not break… His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.”
The Davidic throne is not provisional. God explicitly swears that He will not revoke it.

3. Isaiah 9:6–7 — Messiah Reigns on David’s Throne

“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom…”
The promised Messiah rules not on an abstract throne, but explicitly on David’s throne.

4. Isaiah 11:1–12 — Messiah Rules and Israel Is Regathered

Isaiah first describes the Davidic Messiah:

“There shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse…”
Then His righteous earthly rule:

“With righteousness shall he judge the poor…”
Then Israel’s regathering:

“The Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people…”
and:

“He shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.”
This is precisely the prophetic pattern assumed in Acts 1:6:

Messiah + kingdom + regathered Israel.

5. Jeremiah 23:3–6 — Regathered Israel Under the Davidic King

God says:

“I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries…”
Then immediately:

“I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper…”
And:

“Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely.”
Again:

regathering + Israel + Judah + Davidic King + national security.

6. Jeremiah 30:3, 8–9 — Israel Restored to the Land and Davidic Rule

“I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah… and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers.”
Then:

“They shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.”
The restoration is plainly national, territorial, and royal.

7. Jeremiah 31:31–37 — The New Covenant Is Made with Israel and Judah

“I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah.”
Then God guarantees Israel’s national continuity:

“If those ordinances depart from before me… then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.”
Israel’s national identity is therefore not cancelled.

8. Ezekiel 36:22–28 — Regathered Israel in Its Own Land

“I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.”
Then:

“A new heart also will I give you…”
The sequence is important:

regathering to the land + spiritual regeneration.

9. Ezekiel 37:21–25 — Perhaps the Clearest Background to Acts 1:6

God says:

“I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen… and bring them into their own land.”
Then:

“I will make them one nation in the land.”
Then:

“One king shall be king to them all.”
Then:

“David my servant shall be king over them.”
This is almost a direct prophetic definition of “restore the kingdom to Israel.”

It contains:

ethnic Israel + regathering + land + national reunification + one King + Davidic rule.

10. Amos 9:11–15 — The Fallen Davidic Kingdom Is Rebuilt

“In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen…”
Then Israel is restored:

“I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel…”
and:

“I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up.”
The Davidic order is rebuilt and Israel is permanently restored to the land.

11. Micah 4:1–8 — The Former Dominion Returns

The LORD reigns from Zion, nations come to Jerusalem, and Israel’s scattered remnant is gathered.

Then:

“Unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.”
This is one of the closest conceptual parallels to Acts 1:6.

12. Zechariah 12:10; 14:4, 9, 16 — Israel Repents and Messiah Reigns

Israel finally recognizes the pierced Messiah:

“They shall look upon me whom they have pierced.”
Then Messiah physically returns:

“His feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives.”
And:

“The LORD shall be king over all the earth.”
The nations then come up to Jerusalem to worship the King.

Conclusion

Acts 1:6 rests upon a massive prophetic structure:

David’s throne is everlasting.
Messiah will occupy it.
Israel and Judah will be regathered.
They will return to their ancestral land.
They will become one nation.
They will undergo spiritual regeneration.
The Davidic King will reign over them.
Jerusalem and Zion will become the center of Messiah’s worldwide rule.

Therefore when the apostles ask:

“Wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”
they are simply asking whether the long-promised Davidic, national, earthly restoration of Israel is about to begin.
