Nope, I believe you're promoting prosperity gospel, despite your denial.
Like I said. Believe whatever you want.

I've told you this soap opera is just like all the others - ever-revolving plotline. If you come back nine years from now it will still be the same plot.
I'm now convinced. I can clearly see now how naive I was.![]()
I want you to stop mixing the sacred with the profane. Date whoever you like in whatever way you want, but don't sell it as Christian.Like I said. Believe whatever you want.![]()
How is it now wrong, when a normal person would want a girlfriend/boyfriend first? And then maybe consider marriage? If you only desire marriage for its status without anybody to potentially substantiate it, don't you think that's the very essence of idolizing marriage? When this whole, uh, discussion, first started, I was actually on board with Lovette, because I agree that marriage is often idolized in the church.
But then it all went off somewhere into La La Land of how dating and wanting to be married is somehow altogether wrong...
When a lot of us wouldn't be here if not for our parents, many of whom sought to be married.
I tried to ask Lovette about that, but he said he wasn't interested in answering any personal questions, so I had to to tap out.
But I do enjoy coming back as brief commentary every now and than.![]()

Which I have explained to you a million times as idolatry of marriage. Who doesn't dream about their Prince Charming/Princess Buttercup? And the happily ever after? This is the part where I would explain that some people have the general desire to be married in the future, but this simple fact seems to be beyond your comprehension.

Except we don't live in the world your parents were living in, the party's over long ago.My parents met in junior high when they were 13 and 15. They never had any other relationships, and married at 19 and 21.
They just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
If they are somehow guilty of idolizing marriage, you'll have to take that up with God -- though I realize their situation is very, very unique. They met, and God blessed that into something that has indeed lasted a lifetime.
If you consider that idolizing marriage, I seriously wonder how it is that you believe your beliefs about marriage are based in Christianity at all.

What church do you go?I agree with you that the church often sells us a "Happily Ever After" if you just obey God and do everything you're supposed to, which doesn't pan out for most people.
Most especially if the Prince runs off with one of the Ladies in Waiting (or for the gentlemen, their Princess runs off with Lancelot.)
But part of why I'm on this site is to hopefully convey to other singles that even if it doesn't work out, God will help you through, and you can still have a good life.
I'm in the process of planning a trip with single friends that will hopefully include staying at a castle, which is something I've wanted to do my whole life. (Not because I'm into fairy tales and materialism, but because I love architecture, living spaces, and medieval art.)
My stay at the castle won't include a prince.
But it will include God and some of the best friends I could have ever found -- all from this site.
Just because my Prince ran off with someone else, it doesn't mean I can't make a bit of my own Happily Ever After.
Except we don't live in the world your parents were living in, the party's over long ago.
And even for your parents and their generation, I doubt either of them desired for marriage first and then sought somebody to marry. I'm just telling ya, that a normal person would meet and fall in love with somebody first, either blessed by God or not, and then seek marriage with that person.
What church do you go?
My church never sell that. But we do insist on pure and holy, both single and married.

It is wrong to use Jesus as a matchmaker for dating, and it's wrong to desire marriage when you don't even have a partner. You think you desire marriage, what you really desire, especially for the girls, is the wedding, the dress, the setting, the candlelight dinner, the romantic vibe, all of those stuffs in the movies and novels. I don't know why is it so hard for you to understand that. You don't strike me as a normal person.
I'm not quite sure how it is then that you feel you can dictate what should be normal for everyone else, but yet you do.
And for the record, I'm far from a normal person either.
I'm just not telling everyone they're wrong for dating or desiring marriage because of it.

Alright, good luck and have fun. I absolutely agree, you don't need a prince or a princess for your happily ever after.I agree with you that the church often sells us a "Happily Ever After" if you just obey God and do everything you're supposed to, which doesn't pan out for most people.

I don't, they themselves confessed. For my part, I don't know where you got your mind-reading abilities.![]()
A castle? That sounds cool! I was visiting a castle in Germany one time and part of it was taken over by a film crew that was shooting a horror movie.![]()
