I started 'When Apples Fall' by Liane Moriarty on the flight on audiobook, now have dilemma whether to finish listening cos only got up to chapter 7 or so, before flight ended, or read the rest by borrowing the book.

The set up was a bit slow though and judging by the last Liane book I read it might be really good, or excruciating/cringey. Again it's a middle-class suburbia mystery.

A mother goes missing (possibly dementia) and the sons and daughter have to figure out where she's gone, or did their dad kill her and hide the body? Or some other reason.

I also saw 'Big Little Truths' is out, the sequel to 'Big Little Lies' where the primary school kids in the first one are now teens...wonder how the parents fare in this one, or maybe there's yet another stoush of bullying/domestic violence....?

I’m currently writing a Christian romance about two people who have experienced deep loss and brokenness in very different ways. At its heart, the story explores grief, faith, healing, and the courage it takes to open one’s heart again when life has taught you to protect it.


It is also a story about how God can work quietly through community, family, friendship, and love—meeting us in the places we thought would remain broken forever. I’m keeping the title and plot private for now, but I’m excited to share more when the time is right.

have you written any other books or is this your first one?

I haven't read too many Christian romances just the Francine Rivers ones.

Where is your romance set...Big city? Amish countryside? Suburbia?
Is a widow and a widower meeting? The distant past or modern day? Saga/series or one-off novel?

Sorry just being nosy. I think I'd be interested in reading it if I knew the setting.
 
Latest paperback was Average at Best by Astrid Jorgensen

It's a memoir about how this lady started Pub Choir
Pub Choir (and also Couch Choir) is where she teaches everyone to sing for the night. You buy tickets and you all sing together. I thought people did this in church for free, but its not the same. She's a conductor, not a 'worship leader'

She moves her arms and hands around and teaches 3 part harmonies while a worship leader just adlibs while they are singing and hopes people will just sing along to a Hillsong.

Anyway great book and funny too. She's a legend.

No the difference is that a music conductor, is there to keep the timing and harmony of the music. Leading each group of instruments at the right moment and keeping the tempo and tune.

A worship leader does more than that, they select the songs for each service to compliment the sermon the pastors wife... oopps I mean the pastor wrote and is preaching on. As well as leading choir practices and band practices. Co-ordinating both of them.

I would say a conductor or choirmaster does the same thing, choose the songs/music AND uses them to compliment whatever show/revue they are putting on.

Conductors also conduct entire orchestras, not just bands.

I was never invited to be any part of a worship band. Seems like an exclusive club...
We had Scripture in Song in NZ, but then the Australian Hillsong brand knock-off came along, CCM was invented, and that was the end of that. Now most all churches have Hillsong music. meh

I see, that sucks, Oh ok, kind of like a new thing comes out and every one jumps on it like a popular trend.

I'm writing a short story, historical romance in early Victorian era on the surface, psychological analysis in essence.

Churches not immune in a bid to seem 'relevant'.
But often it's like 10-20 years too late and by then the fad has passed.
 
I don't want to write any stories but I would love it if someone writes stories about living in the Millennial Age.

Us transformed as immortals raising the mortal children to become mortal adults who themselves will marry and raise their own children.

Sin without the influence of satan and his minions (how would it be different or similar).

Jesus political and spiritual administration of the world.

Exploring the world as a restored state before the fall. Immortals exploring what couldn't be safely explored before, like the deeps of the ocean.

The release and return of satan and his influence at the end of the millennial age.

And so much more! There are a ton of stories that can be written about that era!

Utopia!
Yea I can actually imagine that one. There is enough doom and gloom in this world already. Why not a future fantasy that has a HAPPY ending for once?

It's sad really, why don't they just focus on doing what God wants them to do and reach the lost?

"Romance" is just a shell, it's more like a thesis on a bunch of romantic and other 19th century ideals, you know, one love interest is the embodiment of one view, the other love interest is the embodiment of another, and the main charater is struggling between the two.
