Hey Everyone,

In the past few threads, I've been enjoying reading a poster's comments about the things that have been very, very good to him (such as basketball and brisket,) and the things that have NOT been very, very good to him (such as jello casseroles.)

Naturally, I started to wonder what other people would say have been very, very good to them -- and what have not.

I know we can ALL say that God has been very, very good to us! 🙏🏼💖💐

But what other things, both silly and serious, have been very good to you... or not?

* What about people? Family, teachers, bosses, and co-workers?

* Places? What places have lifted your spirits? What places were disappointments, or do you now avoid?

* Foods? What foods have you found to be very, very good? And what are some.. that need to be thrown into the Lake of Fire? (Reference to a past thread!)

* Sports, hobbies, or activities? What things did you find you were good at -- or maybe not so good?

For me --

1. I am so blessed to have family and friends who have been very, very good to me. Distance, however, is NOT very good to me, as all of my friends are thousands of miles away. But, I'm very thankful to keep in touch with daily chats, email, and occasional phone calls and visits. :D

2. I've lived in a few different places and most were very good -- interesting sites to see, fun things to do, and good churches. However, the heat in some of the areas was NOT good to me at all, sometimes giving me heat rashes and definitely reinforcing my love of The Great INdoors!

CC has also been very good to me, even though I was a bit of a firecracker when I got here (imagine that!!) 😆But, the CC administration gave me a chance, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity and friends I've made here. 🙏

3. There are so many foods I WANT to be good to me, but unfortunately, are not very good for me (chocolate, pasta, desserts.) Although it's definitely not a favorite food, spinach has been very good to me. It's the one vegetable I can always seem to manage to eat, no matter how tired I get of eating vegetables.

4. Walking has been very good to me. I'm horribly clumsy and terrible at any sport, so I've always relied on walking for exercise. Throughout my life, walking was always available and usually low-cost (I did finally buy a treadmill but become painfully bored on it.) I've always felt blessed to have explored some really neat places, like garden centers and old churches -- just by walking through them! 🤓

I can also say that COUCHES (especially the extra fluffy, cozy kind,) have been very, very good to me...

But unfortunately, they're NOT very good FOR me. 😭

Now it's your turn!

What things have been very, very good -- and not so very, very good -- for you? 😀
places that have been winners for me: the caribbean, manhattan, saratoga, california, hawaii, key west, many other states, much of new york, all the places i vacationed, nightclubs, bars, ( that is playing in bands in nightclubs & bars ), too many to list. however, oddly enough, saratoga was bad to me when i tried to work there with antiques. it was like God saying, "get out of Saratoga"! things that have been good to me: all the gourmet food i dined on, cruise ships, all my drums have been very good to me, bands, coins, big toys, antiques & all merch, vehicles, landscape tools, construction tools. i don't really know what you mean when you say things that have been bad to me. i don't relate to things that way. people that have been good to me: doctors, stewardesses, pilots, protectors, lawyers, accountants, judges, politicians, certain girlfriends, close friends, some family, customers, people i meet on vacations, some musicians & some pastors. people of a certain type have been bad to me, family members & some friends. much more than all this, too much to get into.

Well... vacation spots REALLY like you if you have $$ to spend.

Otherwise they hate you like the snooty saleslady who brushed off Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

Ugh Dallas.

Though I was born and raised in Texas I recommend Fort Worth (despite the weather  ).

We like to say if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes. Guess I'm just used to it.

5 months of insane heat. 4 months of freezing wet cold. 2 1/2 months of rain every weekend. We had maybe two weeks of good weather the entire year I lived there. I like to tell people I spent a decade one year in Dallas.
datzphunnneee!

reminds me a bit of hawaii. the clouds rain at 5:00 every day!

Tourist has been very good to me. Met him on this site and we will celebrate 12 years together this November 27th. So many others have been good to me that have chatted with me on this site as it is mostly a friendly bunch of folks.

Tourist and I also made friends will Willy and his wife Sue until he died and that was sad but we got together several times in Florida and shared a meal together. We moved to Tennessee and are a lot closer to Lynx but it would still be a bit of a drive to try and meet up for a meal will have to consider it or maybe invite him to meet us in the middle somewhere it would be fun. I am on the young side of getting old now and have to use a walker to get around. I'm still fun to be with though....

I LOVE a good sugar cream pie but I have only found them in Indiana.... Warm a piece up just a few seconds in the microwave and it is to die for.

I don't want to say the people on CC who have been not so good to me.

I think most everyone has been good but there were a few that were highly offensive that I had to resort to reporting their not-so-good behaviour.

It used to be I thought people hated me or made fun of me behind my back and took it personally, but some people are like that with everyone, I used to think something was really wrong with me. Especially when they didn't stop doing it and telling others about how they didn't like me and found me irritating.

It turns out that nothing is wrong with me and God loves me, and forgives me even if I do something ...not so good.

People tend to project their own flaws on others to deflect what is really going on with themselves.

you speak of life on this earth that is totally correct. you are a strong woman: you cleared up your deficit with worrying. great for you. you realize that God loves you unconditionally & you aren't going to let anyone bother you or cause worry. i definitely, am not someone people are attracted to. i did not hang and they say, the way everyone else did. so i had few close friends in my life. there were times that i did have close friends but it didn't last. lot's of people have many close friends their whole lives. 1 of my characteristics people shy away from is that i'm very strict in life. for example: you tell someone you are going to be there at 5:00 & you are there at 5:00!!!

I think there are quite a few things that have been very, very good to me.

My children and grandchildren are definitely high on the list. They have brought so much love, laughter and beautiful chaos into my life.
Nature and walking are good for me too, although Finnish autumn doesn't always make it easy. When the evenings get dark and cold, the sofa, a warm blanket and a knitting project can be much more tempting than going outside.
Knitting has actually been very good for my mind. When I have my needles in my hands, the endless running of thoughts slows down and I can finally empty my mind for a while.

Early morning alarms and living in the endless hamster wheel of work, schedules and responsibilities have definitely NOT been very, very good to me.

And good conversations belong on the “very, very good” list too. Being able to talk for hours, laugh together and simply feel comfortable in someone's company is something I really appreciate.

I love cafes, nice restaurants, tea houses, concert halls, museums, art galleries, beaches, sunlit bedrooms in the afternoon, and of course church buildings.

everything you listed is what my wife & i are attracted to! so similar! we did cut back on the gourmet dining though. we just have had enough of that after 46 years. we started to live more simple back in 2024.
