Hebrews 5:9 - And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him

I always wonder how people continue to believe they are saved anyway if they aren't obedient to the Lord.

Some come right out and say that obedience is not required for salvation even though that's not what the Word of the Lord says.

Apparently this is further proof that some among us openly reject some things the Lord says as they walk in disobedience.

Obedience is one of the evidences of salvation. God saves the rebel with the view that he/she becomes an obedient son/daughter. Where there is a lack of obedience, I question that person's salvation.

In order to be saved in the first place, a person must obey the gospel. God commands people to repent. There are consequences for disobedience.

An individual who comes into the Kingdom of God brings all kinds of misconceptions, bondages and wrong attitudes with them. God works in our lives to deliver us from those things that hinder us (Hebrews 12:1). There is no instant perfection in our walk with Christ.

Christians need to make sure that they do not equate obeying God with following their own concept of Christianity. This includes telling believers that they must obey the Sabbath or avoid eating pork.

Roman 14:3-5
"…The one who eats everything must not belittle the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person regards a certain day above the others, while someone else considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.…"

It's so easy to judge new believers. No one is instantly perfect. We all stumble in many ways. (James 3:2).

Of course we have to be obedient to God's commands which are the moral laws, laws of love.

Which charity, love in action, is greater than faith, and faith works by love.

If a person is not obedient then that is not love then no saving faith.

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

If a person hates sin, and does not want sin, and allows the Spirit to lead them to help them then they can be obedient to the commands of God.

And if not they are of the flesh and have no salvation for those in the flesh cannot please God.

2 Timothy 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Some people will not let go of the flesh and are disobedient and love sin more than God.

1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

Acts 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.

Of course we have to be obedient and to reject that there is no salvation.

1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

A person that does not obey the commandments they are committing witchcraft and idolatry which they are exalting themselves and their ways above the ways of God.

To obey is better than sacrifice so those that are disobedient the sacrifice of Jesus does not apply.

Which many people say they cannot abstain from sin which means they are holding on to sin and disobedient.

They think they cannot fall because they believe they cannot stop sinning but they are not in the truth.

They will not let go of the flesh which they are ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Obedience to what, exactly? You say "obedient to the Lord", so I'm presuming you mean to His instructions and commandments in Scripture. So... which ones, precisely?

No, today's Gospel is so watered down that we have so pseudo-Christians. Regeneration brings about a changes in one's life, obedience being one of them
I'm glad that you are perfect in obedience, have never stumbled, never misunderstood, never failed in any way. You must have been fun as a pastor.

Your blanket assertion re the gospel is false. I agree that there is too much that is false, but not every preacher waters down the gospel.

Exactly.

To be carnally minded is death which is separation from the Lord - Romans 8:6

If you live after the flesh, you shall die; but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live.
Romans 8:13

They will not let go of the flesh which they are ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2 Thessalonians 2:10 - And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

You must be a baby Christian.

I'd suggest you start with James 1:5 and ask the Lord to help you understand what it means to be a believer

No, he's absolutely correct that today's gospel is so watered down that we have so pseudo-Christians

Did you not see the warnings in the Word of the Lord concerning all the false teaching and false brethren in the end times?

When you attack someone for accepting the Word of the Lord you out yourself as someone following the fake grace that's been going around taught by tares

Hebrews 5:9 does not teach salvation‑by‑obedience; it teaches salvation‑that‑produces‑obedience.

“I always wonder how people continue to believe they are saved anyway“

I find that it’s because others tell them this and they accept it

also i find when people see what Jesus was teaching they start talking about obeying Moses rather than Jesus

This ot word of Moses to Israel’s tribes of the flesh in thier law

“And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him; breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.”
‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭24:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Is different actually contrary to what Jesus was teaching

Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: ( ot)

but I say unto you, ( nt) That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:38-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It becomes an issue either way those sayong “ you must obey “ tend to look back at the ot and add that into the gospel and then actually argue against what Jesus said . others say “ only Paul’s words apply ( if they tell seem to agree ) were saved by grace and election there’s nothing more to see or do “

Not hearing the right doctrine is destroying people

Hebrews 5:9 does not teach salvation‑by‑obedience; it teaches salvation‑that‑produces‑obedience.
Either way the obedience is there though it’s for those who obey him but look what it says for those who don’t obey the gospel

“and to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power”

Its repeatedly stayed throughout consider how clear this one is and also thonk “ do not judge lest ye be judged , do not condemn lest ye be condemned forgive and you shall be forgiven “

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. ( sinners judging other sinners doesn’t work for god )

…..Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.

God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.

But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile;

but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:1, 4-

“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: but in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:34-

airs constant from the beginnings to the ends of the Bible never waivering

a o kne here like to read things like what Paul wrote there but it’s true just like Jesus had said before and the prophets and law before them just like revelation shows in the end people being raised up and judged according to thier works whether good or evil

The obedience is obedience to the faith, and that given by God, which is to say that through Jesus Christ, Savior, the elect are given everything needed in order to be and to remain obedient to the faith. It is all by God, nothing by man.

[Rom 1:4-5 KJV]
4 And declared [to be] the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
