I like the current website layout; it's better than the the way it was when I joined back in May 2015.

I like most of the membership as well.

And even if I was not satisfied, I would not hurl F-bombs to express my displeasure. 😁 😁 😁

Such unhobbit-ly behavior! 😬😎🤣

(Joke from another thread.)

It's always awkward being the new member of anything.

But what happened to Steve? His threads were high drama lol. I specficially went and searched for them because they were so hilarious. He riled up everyone in Singles with his earnest unasked for dating advice.

Good ole Steve Epperpen faded away with no explanation.

Lol!

Good ol' Steve.

In my mind, I was going through a list of reasons as to why his approach was so amusing...

I suppose it doesn't do any good to go into detail -- but yeah, those threads sure were good for a laugh!

My favorite time was when he advised the guys to pick out a romance movie for the date. Because, ya' know, all women like romance movies :ROFL::LOL: smh lol

It's always a Catch 22 when we get people like that.

On one hand, they sure do liven things up! On the other hand, they sure do disregard anything we have to say and treat us all like we're in need of their universal, ever-so-important, life-changing sermons.

I was thinking about this the other day.

For some reason, singles, especially in the church, are always seen as the "Group That Must Be Universally Preached To."

I don't see people going into Family and telling all the married people how to live.

Nope, that special treatment is always reserved for us singles, who, over the years, have seen countless numbers of Self-Appointed Preachers and Prophets come and go, all believing they are the Mouthpieces of God to Curb (what they assume are) Us Sin-Loving Singles.

My issues with Steve (lol, I guess I'm in a venting kind of mood) were:

1. He claimed to have the end-all, be all answer to finding true love and a fairytale marriage -- but he hadn't achieved that for himself. He had at least one child he would mention, and when I asked what happened with the mother, he refused to answer.

Now of course I understand everyone has situations in their life that doesn't work out. But how can you sell your wares as being fool-proof -- when you haven't achieved them yourself?

2. At the same time that he was preaching a honeymoon marriage, he bragged about how many phone numbers he could collect and cut the rest of us down for being losers because we weren't doing the same.

Um, there's a name for that. The polite word would be "player"; the less polite words, we all know and don't have to spell out.

And I had to wonder if his love of collecting women's phone numbers had anything to do with the demise of his relationship with his child's mother, but he wasn't taking any questions.

3. He boasted about putting a lot of us on Ignore, meaning, he couldn't see what was going on in his own threads -- but that wouldn't stop him from coming in and blasting people.

There was one situation in particular -- he must have had me on Ignore (which I welcome for those who don't like my posts,) but then he completely insulted the friend I was talking to in the thread because he couldn't see the whole conversation -- taking everything out of context.

This is where I draw the line.

Sure, come on in and throw your ego around as much as you want -- we could use the entertainment!

But just don't insult the people here we've come to respect over time while you're at it, or yes, I'm going to push back.

Hard.

I agree that it's hard to try to join any kind of group.

But over the years, I've become a bit of a Grouchy Old Lady.

I'm drawn to people who come in and are like, "Hi there, I'm so excited and grateful to join this community! Looking forward to getting to know you and your stories and seeing how I can help!"

I am NOT drawn to people who come in, kick up their feet (resting them squarely on everyone else's backs,) and basically say, "I know better than all of you people, and you're here to either hear My Divine Message or entertain ME. YOU are here for me -- whether as an audience, or as a trained monkey who will dance when I say so -- and I don't give a rat's butt about who any of you are or what you've been through. I'm Smart And Important and I Have Godly Things to Say In a Way That Trumps Anyone Else, and for your own good, you'd better learn How Important I Am or suffer the consequesnces!"

Well... at least someone gets our attention that way.

But it's mostly the rolling of eyes.

Unfortunately, we seem to get a lot more of the second type (or at least they're more vocal) than we do of the first type.

But at the same time...

Many of us still keep coming back 😂 -- assumedly, for the entertainment.

I'm finding this extremely entertaining and I don't even remember seeing this Steve person.

Apparently, I missed out.

Oh, the stories we could tell! 😆

Not just about that particular person, but the things we've seen over the years...

With so many other places for people to go online, the craziness isn't quite as prominent as it used to be, but hey, I hope you'll stick around! :D

After all, if a chunk of time goes by that's a little too quiet...

We're not above manufacturing some drama on our own. 😎😇🥸

Actually...

I think I'm going to write a thread about this. :D

Coming to the Singles Forum near you, as soon as I get it written and it passes inspection! 😁

My new play is going to be called

Wild geese and rabbits. A video game.

So in this story there are these wild geese you have to chase and catch as well as rabbits. When you catch a goose you get a pillow, and when you catch a rabbit, you get a carrot. When you have enough carrots, you can make a carrot cake.
When you have enough pillows, you go to a special level where you can have a pillow fight, as this is a multi-player game where you can invite your friends and share carrot cake.

It is a choose your own adventure play. The choice is between wild geese or rabbits.
Soooo I get to catch da wabbits, make carrot cakes, and have a pillow fight with you & @seoulsearch & @CarriePie and all my other CC pals!!!??? 🤩
Do I get to keep the wabbits?

What happened to Steve? I thought it was Eve.
Oh that was my other thread

Steve was just this other guy who posted on the Forum a couple of years ago. No relation to Adam and Eve, at least I don't think so. Maybe he did go out with a lady called Eve, he seemed to know all about what the ladies wanted and how to pull them.

Us ladies protested though.

It was my attempt at a joke referencing your thread. Guess it wasn't a very good joke. :p
