Backsliders are worse off than they were before they got born again in the first place! Imagine that!

They are definitely on their way to hell once again.

As long as they are still alive, they have the opporunity to turn from unrighteousness and unto God.
If they don't...their fate is sealed.

I fail to see any connection.
The thorn could have been anything from a speech impediment, to a crushed in skull from his stoning.

Paul was the worst of those Christ died for.
But he didn't keep persecuting the church after his conversion.

BTW, Paul wrote..."Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." (1 Cor 15:34)
Does that sound like something from a sinner ?

1Ti 1:15 This is a trustworthy saying, worthy of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst.

1Ti 1:16 But for this very reason I was shown mercy, so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His perfect patience as an example to those who would believe in Him for eternal life.
