What is in your hope chest/glory box?

If you don't know what any of these are.... well you can look it up. If you don't have one please tell us if you do have a box you have keepsakes in and what you keep, or want to keep, like for memories and things that are precious to you, that you can't bear to give or throw away.

1. An Old Bible. I don't read that version now.

2. A crochet shawl made by my mom. I don't use it but can never give it away. It has her touch and labor.

3. Handmade greeting cards given to me by some sweet people I worked with

Well, I pretty much stopped keeping a hope chest for when I get married. I have my own place so I'm using that stuff now. Could quip something about I stopped keeping a hope chest because I'm kind of hopeless when it comes to romance.

Many years ago my grandma gave me and my two unmarried aunts handkerchiefs that she had embroidered a little flower design with a blue ribbon on so we'd all have something blue for our weddings. I think it's in a box in my parent's basement somewhere. But if the impossible happens and I do get married I'd like to have that with me for the big day.

I have a cardboard box I kept from when I worked in the school library, I used it for suggestions. I covered it with duraseal that had coloured polka dots on it. Children would write suggestions on bits of paper of books and things they wanted to read/see in the library. I kept all those suggestions.
I also put my diaries and journals I had from those years, and I also have a book of handmade cards children gave me, with pictures they drew and letters they wrote me. But I can't fit that book in the box it is on my bookshelf.

The box is under my bed.

I also have a shoebox full of socks under there, but I use those. I put them there in pairs and hope I don't lose them because I hate it when I wear go to wear socks and can't find a matching pair. They make them all in different colours I'm not sure why I can't just wear socks all of one colour. But apparently it s a no-no to wear white socks with dark pants. And I can't wear shoes with no socks.

I like buying socks of different colors. Pink, blue, white, black, etc. but only wear the white and black ones and the rest at home... unless, I can hide my pink socks under my flared, black pants and sneakers

I have a few "Memory Boxes" going -- certain special letters from people I've written for 25-40 years; keepsakes from loved ones who went home to the Lord; brochures from places and landmarks God graciously allowed me to see; and of course, treasured photographs from those times.

I think Hope Chests were established on thoughts of the future (getting married and having a family) -- at stage in the game (for me at least,) it's more about preserving the memories and thoughts of people God has blessed me with in this life.

Pandora's box was a hope chest. Everything else got released/given away until only hope was left.
