God has been really good. He brought to mind King Hezekiah, so I felt encouraged to pray for my Mom that God miraculously give her several years. She's responding to her medication and treatment very well so far but we'll see.
But she really has a good attitude about it. She told us that she wants to remain active until she dies so she insists on cooking for us. She's lost her sense of taste though so sometimes the food is bland or too salty but we don't complain about it - just wipe the salt from the food or add salt to the food when she's not looking.
And she is still SO FUNNY! Here is our routine everyday:
When she needs to go upstairs to her room, I escort her up the stairs. She's very slow. There are two staircases to get to the second floor. At the bottom of the first stairs, I cry out to my brother on the second (he works from home there), "Mommy Incoming!" and we slowly turtle climb the stairs with me behind her to catch her in case her knees buckle.
But the time my brother comes out, we're at the bottom of the second stairs about to climb it. It's always the same: my brother likes to tease my mother being so slow, so he'll say "Hurry up, MOM, get up here already!" like a drill sargeant, but with a twinkle in his eye. And I always say, "Shut up!" the way older sisters do.
But one day my brother is telling her to hurry up as usual when my Mom says to my brother, "When you're not there - I RUN!" Oh I laughed so hard! Without missing a beat, my brother's going "Oh do you, huh? You doing gymnastics behind my back?" And I go, "Yeah, she's doing cartwheels and backflips when you're not looking!" Lol! Oh we still get a good laugh from that!
