*Stands directly in front of Lanolin and stares her down until she becomes uncomfortable and stops talking*

Yay I won again!!!!🏆 🥳🎖🏅💪😎
Wot that never stopped me.
If you want to stop someone from talking...you use hand signals like musical conductors or, what the Quakers do, which is raise their hand, and it works with children too. You don't stare at them.

The whole 'eyes on me' thing or clapping doesn't really work. Teachers think it does, but it really doesn't.

I would like to hear from the long term successful married folks as well but want to chime in as someone who was divorced very young:

Divorces for anything other than adultery are considered very gravely by the Lord and He's clear that unless it is under that ONE circumstance than the divorced parties are committing adultery with everyone else afterwards.

That's a very heavy and valid reason to contemplate these things very deeply. I would say I *wish* that my first marriage just took more commitment, communication or sacrifice but sometimes none of those things matter and the hurt is too deep and interwoven into the marriage. Mind you this was also not a Christian marriage and before I was a Christian but I still would have forgiven her anything but that one thing.

So I would suggest we be gentle with the higher divorce rates as a large portion of those divorces (Christian or not) are the result of adultery in a highly sexualized culture and THAT is the root problem more than anything.
Do you think there is any chance to get back with your 1st wife, if both of you are still single?

I am asking this not as personal question but as general questions.

God put together, let man not to separate.

Only if spouse already marries to others, then take it as a sign that God set you free.

So you are saying that when yall disagree, Thea is NEVER right? Like, not even a little bit?

It's not healthy for one person to *ALWAYS* win, because nobody is *ALWAYS* right.
someone may say, "oh, here it comes, he's never wrong". well, if she stayed on point like anyone else is supposed to, she'd be right once in a while. you all know what i'm talking about. how many of you discussed anything with anyone & what you get in return is tommyrot talk. however, she knows more about a wide variety of this & that than i do. she's better than me at connections & modern day words having to do with computers, tv shows, & just plain modern life. i'm still a 1970's guy. no, i'm not always right about anything.

No and I wouldn't anyway. Consider this:

If someone cheats on you that is their baseline desire and they gave into it. That means they are fully capable of giving into it again - regardless of remorse or promises to change - their base character is compromised and they will always be capable of infidelity.

God would not ordain such a union and my immediate thought is: "Some marriages must therefore be man's design or even (sadly) Satan's." I believe this is the case with my first wife because since then the Lord has rewarded me abundantly and punished her rather directly. I won't get into it too deeply but the child she has with me is the only child she will ever have.

For example since our divorce she's had 14 failed relationships including an engagement and ended up getting PCOS and Endometrial Cancer.

If God didn't join it, He will cleave it apart and sometimes we are the better for it.

If one continues sin and not repenting, correct, the other innocent one is entitled to divorce.

Something I am reminded of in Scripture - when Jesus stops the men from stoning the adulteress He tells her "Neither then do I condemn you. Go and Sin no more" He does not say "Be reconciled with your husband, your marriage will now be fruitful" or anything along those lines.

It is a sad reality but I would like to state that in every other case besides adultery we are EXPECTED to continue trying, forgiving and working together as married couples to honour God and the vows we made before Him.

Any other reason falls short and is inadequate for divorce - which btw I don't mean to be brutal would include physical harm. I am not condoning violence against one's spouse - this is vile behavior and such a person is a criminal who should be imprisoned for the protection of the other person. But still THAT is not grounds for divorce. How much more horrible and damnable is infidelity then?

I know and heard many stories that one forgave their spouse s short term infidelity, and they reunited. But the infidel one willing to repent, and sin no more. They even repent in front of congregation, which is a lot of courage, and determination to sin no more.

Another thing is once the infidel one marries other, even that other died or left, the original innocent one should not take back the infidel one.

I agree with your thoughts on other cases. Correct, I agree to follow by scripture, not to make human excuses. Abuse case should do separation.

Also with all the STDs floating around, I wouldn't want to sleep with my cheating spouse if I was married to one.

Something I hadn't thought of but a valid point. What if the spouse has cheated with someone with AIDs? Even if they become reconciled the consequences are permanent and I may be wrong but certain STIs can actually harm/kill babies within the womb or at birth.

Although in the modern age sleeping with anyone who isn't willing to provide a full and clean bill of sexual health is simply bad planning.

Also to add on to how grave of a thing we are discussing: Jesus says that even LOOKING at another person with lust is already adultery. So I can see this as a valid reason why so many people - including Christians get divorced. It your spouse looks at pornography or other women/men with lust they are already a lost cause. Jesus will forgive them of course, His mercy is infinite. But Law and Punishment exist for valid, Godly reasons and those who allow their flesh to control them should be rebuked harshly for their Sins against both their spouse and the Lord.

Matthew 25:37-43

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

"The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

"Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

So my question would be: what kind of cursed person would cheat on Jesus?

These are the last days and the Bible said a lot of false teaching will be acceptable to people with itching ears.

I saw an episode in Law and Order: SVU where a married guy would get together with his friends and fornicate with them but won't admit to being homosexual or bisexual. He contracted AIDS and his wife got HIV from him. Whoever she was - she was an amazing actress! She made me cry how she said she loved him and forgave him but has to deal with ramifications of his cheating ways.

I think it's important to always live as if we are in the last days but remember it is inherently not-correct to believe or even imagine we KNOW that any time is the end time. It is strictly stated that we do not and never will know when the time has begun.

"Like a thief in the night" and thieves do not announce themselves. Many claim signs and have for over 2000 years and they have always been wrong.

No one knows but the Father. Although having this mindset does allow us to keep our lamps lit, full of oil and our wicks trimmed so I do encourage acting as if we are always in the end times.

What's sad is that is based on a real person and real stories too. I am reminded why the Lake of Fire exists when I read and hear of things like this.

Why does everyone keep saying 'last days' as if everyone is going to die tomorrow. It's really off putting.

I'd like to think I have at least a year or a couple of months left to live.

Maybe because it is the last days?

"Last days" = the era, not the deadline.

"But in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son."
—
Hebrews 1:2 (NIV)

I get why it's off-putting. A lot of people talk like it means everyone's dying next week, and that's not what it means. 'Last days' just means we're in the final era — the last age before the next one. It doesn't give you a personal deadline. But it does mean the rules of the age are different. You're not supposed to live like it's 1987. You're supposed to live like the season has changed. That's the adjustment. Not panic. Just... orientation.

And the Bible says to keep watch and be ready, so that's what He wants us to do:

"You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him... Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning." Luke 12:35–36 (NIV)

We're also to watch the signs for the season of His return:

"Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near." Luke 21:29–31 (NIV)

If you're ready, you won't be afraid.
