My understanding Gen 1:1 is summery.

Gen 1:2 starting the details.

Not necessarily gap theory. Because it is hard to find gap theory back up in rest scripture.
That is not how the Hebrews did things by giving it a title and then filling in the details. It's why generally the Hebrew is understood Verse 1 is explaining a final product and as time passed Verse 2 reveals something interrupted Verse 1.

Sigh @OMC . Your responses are so predictable. It's like you get your answers from a primitive form of A.I. with a Bible literacy of a Sunday School teaching. Of course it's not going to comprehend things that are Spiritual. It takes one with the Holy Spirit to discern these things.

You literally contradicted this verse:

Proverbs 8:27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

Does your A.I. even know what a compass is and what it is used for? Come on man.

I can see you haven't really studied that. I would suggest doing more research on what is said in the original Hebrew:

Thanks Milk of the Word A.I. I appreciate your response, but the question is already answered.
Personal attacks do not answer the argument.
Saying someone lacks spiritual discernment is not evidence that an interpretation is correct.
The question remains: where does the text explicitly teach the conclusions being drawn?

Regarding Proverbs 8:27, the verse says God "set a compass upon the face of the depth."
A compass draws a boundary or circle.
It does not say the earth existed as a two-dimensional blueprint, nor does it explain the mechanism of creation.
That conclusion is being added to the text, not derived from it.

As for Genesis 1:1-2, the earth is already called "the earth" before it is described as "without form and void."
The burden is to show from the text itself that this refers to a blueprint rather than an existing creation.

Interesting. Will look into it.

Still if based on gap theory, need more scripture back up.

I looked some other ot books, there are similar styles. Such as 1st verse is introduction, or summery, then after 1st verse, the details are listed.

Can we agree on "approximate" 12 hours of night followed by and "approximate" 12 hours of day?
Yes.
About the 3rd week in June the days grow shorter while the nights begin to grow longer.
Except at the equator where there are approximately 12 hours of night followed by an approximately 12 hours of light year round.
On Winter solstice the shortest day of the year begins to grow longer while the longest night of the year begins to grow shorter.
The solstice occurs twice during the year, approximately 6 months apart, and approximately 3 months after each solstice there is an equinox. And there are four seasons in a year.

If the earth tilts on its axis, then wouldn't the center line of the earth tilt also, yet the number of hours of light along the equator remains the same.

Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him .John 11:9-10

You're missing 650 years from Arphaxad to Nahor, but it's not your fault; it's missing from almost all of our Bibles.

At some point it was altered by Jewish scribes to discredit Christ's priesthood after the order of Melchizedek and instead "prove" that Melchizedek was actually Shem.

Titus 1:14

I Timothy 4:7

Where are you getting this information about the 650 years?

Gen 11:10-26 gives the names of father to son, father to son (AND their ages when each son was born) from Shem to Abram.

Don't take my word for anything. Search it out for yourself. The masoretic text, which our old testament is derived from, is corrupted in Genesis 11.

Noah was still alive when Abraham was born.

But the bible does say too much about Noah after the Great Flood.
Where did he live? What did he do?
Did he remain a drunkard after cursing Ham's son?
We just don't know.

We do know Noah lived through the division of tongues after the Tower of Babel.

Yes Noah died in year 2006 and Abraham was born in year 1948 and died in year 2123, 175 years old

The text tells us that darkness existed, God created light,
That's explains why you cannot agree with what I posted seeing that you perceive that darkness existed and God created light.

So you probably won't agree that the term 'create' when used in the Torah has a specific meaning that infers by implication that it is a divine act whereby something in that has never existed in nature having in either form or substance is brought into existence. Thus, it is created. The term create does not mean taking something already in existence, and making that a new substance into a different form. The term create is distinct from make or form, which are terms that infers by implication taking something that already existence in nature and making in to a different form or substance.

So if the scripture tells you that light was created and darkness existed I am not sure how you can reconcile Isaiah 45:7.

separated the light from the darkness, and called them Day and Night.
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. Luke 12:51 KJV

Two lights divided in one house.

Did the original hebrew mention God "created" the light?
But from verse 1, we know God creates everything, including the very dark ness. Verse 2, The darkness can mean depth, space without light.

So we know God created time and space, and formless earth first, then let it be light.
So day 1 a lot to study.

What date is proposed for the flood?
