Hi. I've been on this site for a short time, and have, until now, neglected to introduce myself. I apologize for skipping that... It may have helped me feel more welcome than I have been made to feel here so far.

No worries, from my point of view, I've simply stumbled onto another group of individuals who are actively engaged in being right about everything, and comfortable in letting others know upfront that they're wrong... about whatever.

I came here seeking mature and mutually respectful discussions about God's Word. I've waited for weeks to find something. I decided to just test the waters by responding to a couple posts...

That didn't seem to be work. On one thread, I presented an inquiry and provided an acceptable context for my inquiry... I was told that 1. I was wrong, and 2. They don't have time to show me why I'm wrong.

On another, after making just one simple comment, I've received two response by the same person who found a different way to tell me I was wrong... before I'd even read the first response.

I backed up my response, as I'm always told I have to on these sites, but what I'm receiving is just people expressing unfounded opinions.

What gives? Is this what Christian Chat is about?

Let me know how I can make this work, or tell me to leave.

Hello @HeirConditioned, welcome to CChat 👋:) I'm glad that you found us and joined in the discussions with us!

I haven't read any of your posts (other than this one), so I can't comment about any of them, but I'm sorry that you've been given a bit of a rough ride since you've been here (it's just the way that it is around here sometimes :()!

You could ask people why they decided to reply to your posts in the harsh manner that they did, or you could simply count the persecution (if that's what it is) as an opportunity to act with patience and kindness towards those who are doing so (as the Lord instructs us to .. e.g. Matthew 7:12) and by doing so be a much-needed example for others of what a Christian is supposed to be like, here and elsewhere :giggle:(y)

God bless you!!

1 Thessalonians 5
23 May the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body
be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

I felt the same way very first day here. But don't let it get to you as I did. Just stay true to the word and hang in there. I enjoy a good conversation if you are up for it. Let me know😊

Welcome HeirConditioned to Christian Chat. I hope that you experience some meaningful discussions with other Christians on the website. May the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

(KJV Revelation 22:14) "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."

There are those who always feel more "correct" than others regarding theology or practice.
In that Scripture speaks strongly against employing that attitude toward one another, it is indeed a testimony against both their theology and their practice.

As long as I am conscious of the Spirit of God who lives in me, I simply can't fathom asking Him to fellowship with people who are going to reject His message through me... He knows they will...

And since He's given me just a few small "talents" to invest, I can't waste them in fruitless battles of will masquerading as theological discussions.

So it seems.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me.

I actually enjoy fruitful discussions about God's Word. It bears good fruit when people can share and not hyper-focus on how many things we can find wrong about each other's choice of words or interpretations.

It works for them... They provide population control on the site so they can remain the top contributors and most popular.

Interesting that yoyu would use the same introduction title that i did ... are you, then, a plant, a bogus ... "lets confuse matters" ... type of mess things up, type? I've seen this before; just womdering if it is a naive mistake, or the usual misdirection, that such types of low-lifes often engage with ... Put up. or shut up ... in other words ... bud!

Hi HeirConditioned welcome to CC, please don't get discouraged! I joined in 2018 and had made a comment about Socialism in regards to some programs here, and got flooded with condemnation incl asking if I was a commie or a Nazi🤣 I made almost the same comment you did about 'Christian' chatting showing no regard for others views and got schooled on the evils of Socialism, lol. But that was a minority of people and I'm certainly not going to let a carnal Christian stop me here. I've been on ever since and am thankful for the true Christians here who respond 'in Christ's love'.
FYI there's some long-time members here who don't want to be around heated debates and avoid the BDF as I do unless something pulls at me. I don't mind debating and can certainly handle any 'schooling' comment with a shot of the Truth, in love of course. Anyway God bless you and yours and your endeavors🙏🙌

TabinRivCA ... interesting name you go by ... Does the CA stand for California? ... "Tab" located in RiversideCounty; or, in Stanislaus County ... that one would be the town of Riverbank, by the way.
What is your icon about ... six birds ...doves? ... and a dress of many colors. It is a neat icon!

So then, I take it you are not a commie or a Nazi ... but maybe a Socialist? I'm an old man, almost 80 (nest February) ... but I did, once, long ago stand behind the barricades, and throw rocks and insults at the "Man" ... I almost got drafted, when we were killing our young men in that pointless war, but I avoided the killing (both of myself, and myself killing), by joining the Submarine Service ... we did almost run into an uncharted undersea mountain, which would have been a bad way to go ... but we avoided it, sans a scratch or two to the hull ... And there was that explosion if the O2 generator ... one of my jobs was to keep it calibrated, but that was not me, that dies that day ... we kept his body in the cold storage locker for the rest of the patrol ... the mess cooks got used to him, and started to stack stores on his chest after awhile ... Hemingway wrote a short story, included a similiar situation, where afer awhile they hung the lantern off of his body during the cold winter, when the ground was too hard to dig him a grave ... Cant remember the story title, can you?

@RWRiley You're close, Tab stands for my name and yes it's RiversideCA👍 Not a Hemmingway buff but there's a story of his An Alpine Idyll where a man hangs a lantern on his frozen wife bc her mouth was still open, quite macabre but practical I guess, lol.

I've experience a great number of scriptural forums over the last few decades ... some are very good, and some very bad ... like you, I'm still testing the waters with this one. The trouble, even with the good ones, is that a real discussion is rare. they might start out with good results, but the tangents are amazing; that is, it is almost impossible to hold to the original topic question, even if that is how the discussion appeared to be progressing. that can be very frustrating! Also, you might want to stay away from doctrinal discussions; that's a real rabbit hole, and there be snakes in the hole ... you own beliefs are just that, your own, that you share with God ...
.
That said ... is there any particular scripture, some verse, that you wold like to talk about? My focus is the 10 Pauline epistles ... I a especially interested in the Greek to English translation of them ... source text variants, grammatical concerns, different word choices ... not a real attention grabber for most people, so I don't get many replies ... but I keep trying..

By the way ... Welcome aboard!

Ahhhhh ...nickname for Tabitha (or Tabatha) ... Aramaic name meaning gazelle ... or a tabby cat?
Not a Hemmingway buff ... and yet you know the short story, even recall the details! Well Done.

And your icon .. six doves?

You are noted as a "well-known member" ... but I did not readily see many topic discssions that you are involved in? I do see that you are always one of first to greet new members, however. I appreciated that, by the way ... thank you.
.
Other than Hemmingway, is there any scriptural topics that you are interested in ... I avoide doctrinal issues, but love to do a close analysis of specific verses ... almost always, those found in the 10 Pauline epistles (I will engage with the Pastoral, but always hesitantly) ... Went to school to become an English teacher, ended up refueling nuclear reactors, and eventually certifying submarines as ready for sea ... What was your dream ... how did that pan out?
