Interesting. We aren't in pioneer days anymore, but...I don't think anyone is actually 'waiting to get married'. I sort of think that only applies to couples who are already engaged. Those are the ones who are waiting for the day they will be married.

Everyone else is not waiting, they are just living their lives or trying to survive in whatever way they can. Todays world is not the boomer land. We don't have vast tracts of land to conquer. There is no 'wild west' to settle. Govt is not going to help us buy a home.

We aren't in pioneer days anymore
From the Christianpioneer web site;

Why the "Pioneer" theme? In the history of the United States, a pioneer was often a person who left the "old world" for a home and a new life in the "new world". This is supposed to be what happens when a person becomes a Christian. The classic book "Pilgrim's Progress" also describes a journey to escape entanglement with a world hostile to Jesus so that we can arrive at our destination which is Christian maturity and Christ-likeness.

Considering how increasingly foul the world is becoming, many people are beginning to take another look at Christianity. One almost has to be a "pioneer" to dig through the encrustation of distortion that has been heaped upon what is called Christianity. In addition Christians themselves have contributed to the distortion of the message (good news or "gospel") of Jesus. Our sins are forgiven and we can have new and eternal life by trusting in Jesus. We also now have the opportunity to transition from selfishness (the flesh) to selflessness (love) by the power of God's Spirit in us.

How old are your kids and are they still dating?

Our kids are grown now, but I thought the article could still be useful to others.

yeah. It's a sad day when there is no more adventure.
I am not waiting to get married. I am just living my life, trying to become a good person, but that's not for marriage, that's just an important part of life. Of marriage too, but also just life.

I have not read through your entire booklet yet, but I want to compliment you on how in-depth it is and how many factors it comes into consideration.

I really appreciate your inclusion of the history of the automobile and its availability to families in the USA. I do think there is a bit of a generation gap in thoughts about marriage. People "back in the day" married the boy or girl they grew up with in a one-room school house, and they didn't divorce because it wasn't economically viable or socially acceptable.

And that doesn't mean all the marriages that stayed together were healthy or happy.

You might find that many of the singles here are a bit older (40's, 50's, 60's) but we definitely have younger members as well.

I just mention this because you might get some feedback through the lens of those who are middle-aged (with grown kids as well) rather than 20's or 30's (though we definitely have a few of those too.)

Thank you for taking the time to post this thoughtful and well-written guide.

I might not finish it all today, but will try to read it all the way through in the next couple of days.

Your children are blessed to have you as a dad! :)
