So what was the question(s) again?

What happens on the third date? Are you supposed to propose on the third? I mean for Christians.

Er, probably not.

First you have to find out if your partner's actually a committed Christian. And what they actually believe. Then you have to figure out if you can actually support a family financially. You also need to be in a career where you can progress and support a family. You need to know if you're committed to each other. You need your families to fully approve. You need to see if your mentors and friends (real friends) approve. You need to see if your interests and life goals mesh. You need to see if your relationship is producing godly fruit.

Somehow, I doubt you're going to learn all of this, and confirm it, by the third date.

oh well how many dates is it supposed to take?

When you go for a job interview, if you get a second interview its good, and if you get called again, pretty much you have the job. There is a 90 day trial period though.

You also need to sign a contract, and get it reviewed by a lawyer, if you can't read the fine print.

meh its too much work

How is anyone supposed to have a career, AND look after children as well while going to church. Why do pastors tell others to do this when they pretty much work in the church all the time, and get their housing for free? And get everyone else to pay for their expenses, plus their Sunday schooling as well? From free volunteers? Who need to pay tithes to the church to keep the lights on?

It never made sense.

Depends on the couple. There's no strict timeline. And when you're being evaluated for a job, you're being evaluated for a professional relationship, not a romantic one.

People want steps more than they want principles. But dating doesn't work like that. Human relationships, especially romantic ones, are too dynamic for "steps."

I know plenty of men and women who have careers, families, and serve at church. I also don't know any pastors who get free housing.

I don't, its a hard life here in NZ.

So basically you only know stuff about USA and how it works there, not anywhere else in the world.

Plus since you've never gone past a third date or ever had a romance you probably don't know other stuff. So why are you giving advice again?

It's a hard life here in America, too. Is New Zealand any less human or worldly than America?

Well, no, I don't know everything about how "it" works in the rest of the world. Does anybody, really?

I'm sure there's stuff I don't know about. You could say that about anybody. But when you're single, and you don't want to be, well, you do learn things. You learn even more when you make an effort to learn. And if you've experienced loneliness and heartache, it can give you more compassion for other people in the same boat.

Also, I read books a lot. I very much enjoy reading. And when you read a lot, well, you learn things.

When you become a Christian, you often have more empathy and compassion than you did when you weren't. And sometimes you have lots of empathy for people in certain situations. Especially situations that you yourself have experienced. Maybe God puts some of these things on our heart. Maybe God gives certain people passions and interests for certain things and certain forms of ministry.

That's just been my life experience.

I like being single, and have plenty of empathy for others. Well I think I do. I'm not a fan of adulterers or predators though. I don't have any empathy for them.

NZ is just different from everywhere else maybe... its a place that attracts a lot of refugees because we're far away from everywhere else. And so if you running away from an abusive partner or warmongering dictator its best you start a new life here change your name and get witness protection. lol

Also prostitution is legal, plus women got the vote here first. And after two years of living together, you are considered married if you are a couple.

The law is the same for de-facto relationships who didn't get a marriage license as it is married couples who did.

Yeah, I don't doubt that. And I don't have any sympathy for the actions of adulterers and predators, by no means. But it is possible to have empathy for them as human beings. Because, if they're engaging in adultery or predatory behavior, well, those people obviously aren't saved, are they? And when they're not saved, they're headed for a terrible fate. That's where the empathy for them as human beings, and eternal beings, comes in.

That's just how I think about it. I didn't always think about it that way. But the more you grow as a Christian, the more empathy you develop for people. Doesn't mean you have any sympathy for their actions, though.

If you want to live in one of those christian communes where the rules are strict and the men rule over their wives, you go join Gloriavale or the Exclusive Brethren, who don't vote, but give a lot of money to their preferred parties in 'donations'.

Adulterers and predators don't want to be saved though. They just don't care about the consequences of their actions. They ruin people's lives.

I'm sure most people, at some point in their lives, are sinners who don't want to be saved. And yet, sinners continue to be saved.

But, yes, some of them will, ultimately, choose sin over salvation. And it's heartbreaking, for sure, when you consider what their eternal fate will be.

Personally, I'm not sure if waiting on "God's timing" is a good strategy. Especially if you're, say 25 or older. God doesn't promise marriage to any of us. How are you supposed to trust God to fulfill a promise that He never made to you?

Does this guy know you like him? Have you talked to him about that?
God has given us many promises. One is Mk 11:24 "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours", Jesus said. With all the current learning on faith, I do believe 'all things are possible with God'. But one has to put that faith into action and prayer🙏🙏🙏

To anybody here😊.....Your date invites you to their church OctoberFest🎃, what are you going to dress up as (nothing doesn't count!) and let's pretend you could afford any get-up you'd really like to be🎃

Mark chapter 11 shows Jesus in a funny mood. He was angry at the sellers, shoppers and money changers, cursed a fig tree, and wanted a mountain removed.
