Hey all, so lately I have been giving into temptation in a big way. I go through periods where I am so close to Jesus and then I find myself abandoning him and turning to my old lifestyle. I need prayers of srtength and guidence.

God doesn't give strength. God does grant repentance however. The only way you will turn back to HIm is if He brings you back. He somehow will bend your heart so that you turn back.

Just keep asking Him to bring you back, and He will. If you don't ask He won't bring you back, but if you do ask, He will.

Hello Matt, once you give your heart to Jesus, God will aloud satan to temp you just to test your faith. Satan can only do what God will aloud him to do and nothing else. He can't cross the blood line that Jesus made. Satan knows your weekest point and that's where he's going to hit you. Whenever you have temptation just know that it's from satan, and that God is watching to see what you do with it. Just tell satan to get behind you in the name of Jesus. Each time you do that God will take you a little bit higher. God bless you in your walk with Christ.

Omighty God I lift up Matt to you in the name of Jesus. Touch him Lord in a mighty way. In the name of Jesus, amen

Not trying to cause an argument...but God does give you strength if you ask for it...look up all the verses that talk about it.

Phil 4:13
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

2 Cor 12:9
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

Matt 6:33
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

I will be praying God gives you wisdom and grace...
in Jesus name Amen

Mighty man of God, read this thoroughly, the answer on what to do about it is provided too, so read it all and put it into practice:

Jas 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
Jas 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Jas 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Mat 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Mar 13:35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
Mar 13:36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. Mar 13:37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Luk 22:46 ...Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

..........................................................................................................................

Keep this in mind when you see the word enemies:

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Psa 18:25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;
Psa 18:26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.
Psa 18:27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.
Psa 18:28 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.
Psa 18:29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.
Psa 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
Psa 18:31 For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?
Psa 18:32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

.................I put that in red because:

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him [you], I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus is the perfect Way the LORD has made for you to walk in................

Psa 18:33 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.
Psa 18:34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
Psa 18:35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, andthy gentleness hath made me great.
Psa 18:36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.
Psa 18:37 I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
Psa 18:38 I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.
Psa 18:39 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
Psa 18:40 Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.
Psa 18:41 They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.
Psa 18:42 Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.

Heavenly Father,

I lift up Your son to You today. I stand with him in prayer together with the body of Christ. I pray that You forgive him of his sins and let him hate what You hate and love what You love. Let the Way be clearly defined, let him speak life (Your Word) from his lips and sail into Christ. Let him bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit 100 fold and proclaim boldly the Word of Life to the ends of the Earth. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Psa 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want [lack anything that I need].
Psa 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Psa 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

[Isa 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Isa 41:11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.
Isa 41:12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.
Isa 41:13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. ]

Psa 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psa 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Psa 23:6 Surely [of a surety] goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Dear Brother Matt, why are you running away from God? Don't you know that the tiny little pleasures that we may have in the flesh are nothing compared to the joy we can know when we turn our lives completely over to God.

I pray dear Brother, that God will lay His hands upon you right now, cast off all negative sinful, doubting spirits from you, and grant you the gift of overwheliming faith, and that He will lead you to the joyfilled life He has waiting for you, in Jesus name, Amen

Love in Jesus
brother Gary

Many years ago I had one foot in the world and one foot trying to serve God. We cant do this because the bible says we cant serve two masters. However,I certainly tried and in my trying I was failing (not a failure) just failing. I was always taught by my Pastor if God is in it you will win it...if you obey you will be ok..if you dont, you wont. Through out this time I felt like I was losing my mind and my identity. I went to prayer one day and while being there a woman walked over to me and gave me a word- The Lord is grieved and He will not keep His hand on you forever. This brought me to tears because all I could think of is that I hurt my Lord...that I made him cry...that I grieved Him...then I got scared because the one thing you dont want is for God to remove His hand. Well that day I made a choice to honor God and to serve Him. He became my Master. As many years as I have walked with the Lord I have not yet arrived and never will but I am postive in saying that I made the right decision and I might live in this world but I am not of this world and this is not my home. He has great things for us.

You will reap if you do not faint.

So remember God is merciful, faithful, loving and gracious but He will let you wonder through the wilderness til you get it... 40 years or 11 days take your pick...God bless you.

Jesus is our strength. God does not give men strength. Jesus is our victory. God does not give men victory. There is a subtle but radical difference between the two. The Pharisees no doubt prayed for strength to obey the Law, and when strength came they rejected Him.

According to Matt's post, I don't think he is asking for strength apart from Christ. I think I see what you are saying though. Through Christ we have strength as a new creation... without Him, God won't even hear us until we humble our self like the publican, repenting and standing on GOD's ability (through Christ) and not our own.

Luk 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
Luk 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
Luk 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
Luk 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

And with out God...Jesus would not even be here. It is God's power...that Jesus draws His strength.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Jesus is our access to God's strength.

Hi matt, Paul spoke so much about the struggles we have in flesh and the desire in faith in Jesus.
He knew just how retched men we are with out Jesus. :)
I recomend reading romans, a few times if needed. :)
But as you read, in faith , see all instruction given in Jesus's great love for you, not condemnation.
There is great peace in Jesus found in Romans, pm me if you find it too much a struggle. :)
You continue to be in my prayers in Jesus.

God bless, :)
