Well, this clearly isnt for me, i know that before i became a Christian my life was messed up, my thought life drove me crazy and i needed lots of scotch to keep it cool so to speak.

Christ changed my life, old things passed away, all things became new.

Only Christ can bring about that change of heart/mind, i dont stuggle with things like i used to, i have a very simple outlook on life which gives me great freedom.

In reply to Lightningclap, i was talking about psychology in general with my last comment. You said
" Man "did not need" an understanding of illness or surgery either. Would you condemn them for their history? The east was developing techniques to deal with physical illness long before the west caught up.

Im talking about the mind here ( nonphysical) which is what psychology claims to be able to heal, when only God alone can heal this.

Anyway i seem to be fighting a losing battle here, i would encourage anyone to listen to the below teaching:
Myth of 'Christian' psychology part 1 - SermonAudio.com

It is best to have a simple outlook. ^
I wonder if it's possible for me to have one. My thoughts have an iron will, but at the same time they're fragile. Easily changed. I hear it said that God never interferes with free will.

Oh how I would like to take the time to respond to all this, but I feel it will be a waste of my breath, or rather, typing. I will just leave it with a summary:

George doesn't talk to people in public.
George is probably shy.
Let's call shyness 'I' in short form.
^ this analysis is not evil or satanic

People analyse behaviors everyday and in Luke's posts or everyday life he analyses how people are. There is no difference between what he was doing and what the test is doing. This test just puts some sort of numerical value or interpretation of the results to easily compare people and try to categorize them in some sort of organized fashion. Yes, everyone is unique and these labels dont define us.

I an wasting my time I need to stop.

I had never heard that psychology claimed to heal people. When did that happen? What's wrong with giving people an outlet to vent to someone who might actually have understanding of their issues and perhaps offer life-altering suggestions? Are christian counselors satanic too?

Medicine is a science. Psychology is a science. Neither get it right all the time, but that doesn't mean that we throw the baby out with the bath water. Just like everything else in life, we profit from what makes sense and dump the rest. When psychology makes sense, I log it. When it tells me to blame my mom for everything because I'm not accountable for my own actions, I chuck it.

I took this test, read what it said about "my type", and thought..hmm..interesting. But I'm not going to build my life or choose a life partner based upon its results.

Just not true, lukeboywalker, God DOES use other means than just the bible, than just regular psycologists, than just christian psychologists, than just doctors, than just...

Hopefully, you understand my point, as I don't want to say things to have a fellow brother (or sister) in Christ stumble. But God works in mysterious ways. Some things God says ate beyond our explanation, that to against our most ingrained ways of handling a 'mind' (psychologist) or 'body' (physician) problem in our life.

And, true, God can heal us , with the snap of His fingers, but sometimes He will not. He will want us to go through the doctor for ,say, chemotherapy treatment (cancer) or through an intensive 8-week session of seeing a shrink (psychologist ).

Important thing to remember is that we should NOT just have faith in healing of us of a sickness, of the mind or body, and, stop there and, that is that, saying, 'God will heal me cuz I have faith.' Nooo.

God does not heal us cuz we pray when sick, He heals us BECAUSE if our faith to obey Him and, if, praying for cancer healing does not heal you than YOU BETTER see that as a sign that God wants you to enter into a chemotherapy program!

Well, I need to loosen my tie some more, I am getting rather worked up of late, over this untruism of God and bible our only way God heals, over Social's THOSE WOMEN thread and must he more but cannot think of them at moment.

People! The Lord leads. It's a personal relationship God is leading you . Be led :)

What we see here, ladies and gentlemen, is the problem with absolutism. Psychology is a wonderful tool, but cannot explain everything. The Bible alone cannot explain everything. Even I cannot explain everything though I darn well try to.

In my social psychology course, our final seminar happened to be on prejudice with the emphasis (of course as Godwin's Law dictates) Nazi Germany. They tried to explain the rise of a regime in a way that, more or less, cheapened the historical record and the ideas that directed that historical record. Germany did not become Nazi Germany merely because of the scapegoating of people in the 1930's. Before that people bought socialist ideals of wealth redistribution, rise of the proletariat, etc. They rejected God as the ultimate source of law. Individualism and community were cast aside in favor of artificial bonds between men wrought by an overarching common objective. The scapegoating of the Jews was also something with deep historical roots as most of us are well aware.

Suffice to say, social psychology cannot, as much as it tries, explain the totality of social movements. The same goes for personality psychology in the realm of the individual. That does not mean it is not a useful tool. I am a psychology minor for a reason.

A great key to life, is, was, and always has been balance. Keep your mind open, but not so far open that your brains fall out. That is the maxim I live by.

Yeah exactly, psychology is a tool. It can't fix everything. balance is important.

When my brains fall out, I just pick them right back up and put them in again, and keep on going. :p

Fair enough Ritter, i feel i have put some exposure on what i wanted to, everyone needs to disern for themselves, but all things like this, mind/ soul /spirit issues should be weighed up against scripture.

I will say nomore, thanks Liamson for posting this, its been interesting.

You certainly brought a surprising new aspect to this all. I certainly agree with a lot of what the articles were saying, but MBTI and the purpose of this post are far different than psychology as a whole.

Stay focused on God; focusing on the bad in this world, focusing on seeming "deception" all of the time will affect you and your walk negatively. Seek God in all things, not the devil.

Thanks Lightningclap, i can assure you i do keep focused on God and His Word, and dont get focused on "deception" all the time, only when i feel deceptive things may need exposing.
God bless.

hey relena, i don't know if this helps at all. but my personality is ESFJ,
but because of wounds and possibly a different processing system than your average joe, i never ever ever ever ever fit in anywhere either. i'm looking into autism spectrum to weigh it out. but i might actually have a mild form of what they call asbergers syndrome.

not saying you have that. i'm just saying. if you felt like a misfit all your life like i did, there could be a whole plethora of reasons for it. partly life experience, personality, your settings and how you reacted to them, family structures... etc etc. or ya know. you could just see life differently than others for some reason. *hug*

though this tool is an AMAZING ONE that i ADORE....we are not merely the results of one personality test. we are a sum of our life experiences and the very unique way God tailored each one of us. you may be a "common" personality: INFJ. but all that means is there's several on this site who process the same way as you. or not enough people have voted. perhaps there's something in the personality of an INFJ that is more likely to vote in a poll!!!! hahahahaha. i haven't yet. but i will. i just wanna read the whole thing first.

~personality theory floats my boat. i think if it were evil God would have told me Himself. because he is capable of doing so if something is really important to Him.

Thank you! They say videogames cannot be educational.

I just wonder how many licks it takes to get to the center of maxim, ritt :D

Yes, yes, lukeboywalker, yes, young Jedi , 'mind/soul/spirit,' and, 'body,' all become affected by scripture but God made us with a psyche, and, with 'it' we move in the world, both awake (conscious) and asleep (unconscious).

Now all this said, as Relena said, 'psychology is a tool,' and, it is a tool that God gave us to understand ourselves. As I said above in my post, and, ritt pretty much repeated in his first paragraph, albeit in a lot fewer words than I, psychology by itself does not cure us, like, scripture by itself does not heal us.

Everything of our thinking, conscious' minds, must go through what, or, rather, who? And, sorry, God, I called you an 'it,' LOL ok, in all seriousness and I encourage you to kid God sometimes because, He (His Holy Spirit) is in you and He likes it when we CHOOSE to mention Him. Remember, He knows your heart.

And, so, I did answer who every thing of our psychological mind/body/spirit should go through and it is not scripture and it is not psychology, it is what? What must all our psyche processes go through? Yeah, 'who,' just messing with YOU now, LOL.

God! Everything we say and do and THINK should go through God, which is our own choice , God gives us free will to choose our means to understand what/who/when/why/how and where we are in life . We should USE whatever means God gives us to understand our life , including our mistakes (this could be where God asks you to go to counseling to see a psychologist or, even a psychiatrist.

God bless you all , as through God, you now, thanks to our blessed bro, liam, for doing this thread, can understand ourselves more :)

I would check it out on Fox, 9pm PST on Thursday nights, or, on USA or TNT cable networks, for repeats, so you get the full dose of who Bones is. That's a MAN'S view, but you watch it how you want, woman :D
