It SHOULD be your greatest fear. :) The worst day of a parent's life is the day your child gets a driver's license. It's absolutely terrifying for a very long time. You can't sleep until you hear them come home. Let's just get that out of the way right now. :)

The rest:

- pick your battles
- attend a church with an awesomely ACTIVE youth group; a bored kid is a dangerous thing
- LISTEN to them; let them know it's okay to tell you ANYTHING or ask you ANYTHING, as long as they do it in a respectful way (someone will answer them; it really should be you)
- on the VITAL stuff, stand your ground; yep...they'll get mad..tough; you're a parent and accountable to God, not their buddy; love has to get tough sometimes
- spend as much time with them as you possibly can; don't let work or stress interfere because one day you'll blink and they'll be men/women, not teens
- hold them accountable for their behavior; if you don't, they won't realize that society WILL and God DOES

I was blessed to have seen the mistakes others made with their kids as a young cop. Using what I learned helped make my son's teen years more survivable :)

Yes I'm a US citizen but my birth certificate says Federated States of Micronesia. :) I lived in Hawaii for 5 years. My whole family moved there right before my 18th birthday for my dad's job. They moved back a couple years later but I stayed longer. I absolutely loved it and would go back in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose. It played a huge part in who I am today. And the uke is super awesome. :)

I will clarify: It's a great picture! I'm impressed. At the same time, I think you must be a little crazy (in an adventurous sort of way) to attempt such a thing....unless maybe you used to be a gymnast or something. Hmm...

I was ready to say. The material over which she is jumping doesn't appear to be too forgiving.
 
I'm kind of surprised to not find this out there somewhere already. Hopefully I didn't just miss it...

Jullianna, not to sound prejudicial, but how/why did such a beautiful woman get involved in law enforcement? I understand your moral positions, but it still seems like quite a jump to "get up and do it." I can just imagine the comments you must get when you're out on the street in uniform, let alone when you're truly enforcing. Were there any other jobs you considered?
