is it right or wrong? I don't know but I do know they have a tendency to make you look "trashy"

In a way I do agree Shiner...but in another way I don't. Some tattoos like a flower or dove that's like, on your ankle or something isn't really trashy. Now if you have tattoos all over yourself, then yeah I don't prefer it. Same goes with piercings. I have one piercing in both of my ears, and I'll do really cute earrings. But once again, if you have way too many on you, it looks...umm...scary?

I look at it in two ways, why am I doing it? I've had friends who are Christians who never saw a biblical reason not to do it, but had parents who strongly disapproved. And they did it out of spite. So obviously they took something that is not innately sinful and made is something sinful. Other friends who got them in provocative places so they could show them off, (obv not Christians) but its the heart reality behind it.

The other needs this passage for context:

1 Corinthians 8

Be Sensitive to Conscience

1 Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. 2 And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. 3 But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.
4 Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. 5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), 6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.
7 However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some, with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled. 8 But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse.
9 But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak. 10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol’s temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols? 11 And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 12 But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.
Essentially if what your doing is causing another person to stumble in their faith, or be offended by your actions is it something you should be engaging in? Would a tattoo cause such an emotional upheaval in your family as to cause trouble, or in your church for that matter.

I personally want a tattoo but am having to think seriously about its placement and if its something i really want, as I have friends who are very conservative Christians who would be offended by a tattoo. So if i was to get it somewhere they wouldn't see it, it would be a compromise, at the same time, if they were to find out anyway and that i was keeping it a secret they would be hurt. They wouldn't hate me or anything, they would just be very concerned and its something we would have to have a serious discussion regarding views on.

Are tattoos and piercings bad?? I've had some people tell me that they are, but I've had others tell me that they aren't. There are a couple members on staff at my church that have tattoos, but I dunno. I'm really into them, and there are a couple things I wanna get done, if it doesn't go against God. Basically, I want something (possible Psalms 34:18) tattooed on my wrist, a bar in my ear, my tongue, and my bellybutton pierced. Is that going against God's Word though, since I'm marking my body up? Opinions are appreciated.
Deu 14:1 Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

Tattoos is wrong. Keep away from it. It is not a matter of opinion. The efects of the tattoo is quite apparent on anyone who had a tattoo, if you know how to look and what to look for.

umm...

so if you know how to mis-read, and be close minded you can see the effects?

close minded? mis read...?

Don't you have a better excuse than that... So you will that people commit to things that is against the Bible, let them cut themselves by the ink that cuts into the flesh and violate the physical body which is to be a temple of the Holy Spirit, just because you believe you are open minded. :)

What a laugh. Well if that makes me close minded then fine. I want to be close minded. If it is to be close minded to be closer to God. To hear His voice on a daily basis, seeing miracles day by day, if that makes me close minded because I follow the rules of God. Then so be it. If I am to be called a moron for doing this by all means. For I would rather be a moron for God, then be a OPEN MINDED, SUPER INTELLECTUAL KING for satan.

Have you even considered to what you are opening your mind to? Woops. Huh? Well yes, let's see now. When a girl start sleeping with her boyfriend, and her parents don't agree. She states...be MORE OPEN MINDED. When a guy drinks to much and his parents complain...be MORE OPEN MINDED. Seriously.
If someone is conservative and follows the rules of old and the Bible then suddenly they ARE NOT OPEN MINDED. SO my question to you again... what are you opening your mind, soul and spirit to?

As for misreading...

Deu 14:1 Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

Let me help you with that ...
Ye ... meaning YOU
shall not ... as in not allowed to
cut ... meaning piercing through the skin(since it is yourselves) in any type of form
yourselves ... again you.

What is so difficult about it? Anyone that has EVER been near a tattoo shop would tell you they use needles to cut the ink into the skin.

As for what you are supposed to see you can clearly observe in the Spirit. Seeing in the Spirit is just a bit difficult if you are TOO Open Minded. for the following reason:
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

You want to have a good piece of advice. If you want to wear anything, or put on anything be a bit more close minded and put on these:

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

For this on a lady or a man. Is more beautiful than fancy clothes. Tattoos, piercings, jewelry, or makeup.

Simply wear decent proper clothes that you are comfortable in, and is totally modest and wear the fruit of the spirit and you will be beautiful and remain more beautiful than all the others without much effort.

Have a nice day.
