I totally expect to catch some heat for this, but I am going to ask anyway.

How do you know that your religion (Christianity) is right?

Many religions make similar claims, many religions are older than Christianity.

Most religions are based on a very similar pretense. "Follow these rules or suffer forever"

For those of you who know me, I have done a great deal of study in mainly biblical studies, but a strong majority of other religions as well.

So, what are your thoughts?

Results.

The Lord Jesus does what He says He will do.

He took down the strongholds in my life and in my families lives.

He showed us and gave us Love, Peace and Joy.

I would be hesitant to say it was my religion that did it, or is right. I would rather say that the Lord Jesus did it and He is the one that should be followed.

Here's a simple one for you, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Father of Yeshua HaMashiach, which the entire Bible is based on is the only religion that has claimed detailed prophecy and has come true to the letter and t. No other religion or claimed religion has ever done so and been correct.

No other religion or claimed religion has ever done so and been correct.

I really have to argue against this.

Look at the prophecies predicted in the bible. Now, historically verify them. All the proclaimed prophecies are witnessed and told in the bible. That is another one of those, it is true because the bible says it is true things. Not to mention there are plenty of prophecies made by the Bible that did not come true.

Also, keep in mind most
of the world's major religions contain Messianic prophecies. Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, the Zoroastrian religion and even the Native American religions all foretell the coming of a Promised One. Each of the Founders of these great religions either promised to personally return himself, to send another like himself or in some instances.... the Founder promised to do both.

God has issued a challenge in the Bible
Isaiah 41:21-23
(21) Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.
(22) Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
(23) Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

Jesus claimed to be God

Did Mohommad.. ? No.

Did Buddha ..? No

Confucious? No

Jesus claimed 'I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life'

not A way

But really the way to know christianity is right? Is thru Jesus Himself.. but also

what is truth? It can't include all religions in it.. because they all contradict eachother on what that truth is! Truth excludes other options.. like the President of the USA is Obama.. which excludes billions and billions of other people!

Only Christianity matches this certainty kind of truth. Buddhism is sycretic.. so is Hinduism.. Islam may not be.. but then there founder never claimed to be THE truth.. Judaism.. had the truth for a while and then twisted it.. it goes on.

It ain't religious bigotry to claim one way as Christianity.. it is just the nature of truth itself.. that it excludes other options.

Christ is the only one who has dealt with the issues of sin and righteousness for time and eternity.
2Cor.5

[21] For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Coz Christianity is not a religion. It is a relationship with God where you are free to converse with Him and where His will is manifest in you.

That is another one of those, it is true because the bible says it is true things. Not to mention there are plenty of prophecies made by the Bible that did not come true. Show just one.

Also, keep in mind most
of the world's major religions contain Messianic prophecies. Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, the Zoroastrian religion and even the Native American religions all foretell the coming of a Promised One. Because most of these religions were created from the Bible by those who didn't believe in it and created there own religion out of it. So they all claim to have 'the one' coming. But not a single shred of evidence that they will or even ever existed.

Each of the Founders of these great religions either promised to personally return himself, to send another like himself or in some instances.... the Founder promised to do both. And each one has been proven a lie. But know one has ever proven the Bible wrong not even once. I would gladly take that challenge with anyone who claims they can prove something wrong in the Bible.
It is a fact that no culture has ever dissipated and has been gone for 2000 yrs. such as Israel was and not completely vanish and become exstinct. Prophecy in Ez. of the rebirth of Israel in the last days is one of the biggest evidences of the truth and accuracy of the Bible. Because after Israel vanished for 2000 yrs. God returned them back to the land He originally gave them(though not every bit of it yet) and restored them their. May 14, 1948. Not to mention that they have been out numbered 5 to 1 in every war against the arab nations since and continue to defy all odds and win. Because God fights for them. Everything about Yeshua continues to be proven out more and more. I can run lists all day of the things in scripture that not only have happened to the letter as prophesied but what is going to happen. It is a known fact that the majority of people who try to go out and disprove the Bible end up being saved.

I have been taught the same thing...He is the olny one you have a living relationship with for all eternity.

Eph 1:17,18
17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people

Prove it, because this is a false claim. They didn't witness it and then proclaim prophesy of it.

I think there was a miss communication there. What I meant was that the prophecies given in the Bible are Vague at best. And those that are not vague, such as the Birth of Jesus, are verified by the Bible, no other historical text.

Just one? I believe Damascus is still standing. If you need more, I would be glad to point out a few. But the Bible if inerrant should have 0

Because most of these religions were created from the Bible by those who didn't believe in it and created there own religion out of it. So they all claim to have 'the one' coming. But not a single shred of evidence that they will or even ever existed.
What about the religions that were around before the bible? And once again I point out, where is the evidence that the Jewish Messiah ever came to be? I mean, even the Jews don't believe that.

And each one has been proven a lie. But know one has ever proven the Bible wrong not even once. I would gladly take that challenge with anyone who claims they can prove something wrong in the Bible.
How were they proven a lie exactly? Because the Bible says so? I will give you a challenge, if the the Bible is the true word of God, was has it been changed so many times throughout history? Wouldn't the word of God not need to be adjusted?

Look, I am not trying to bash or disprove the bible, I think I have a valid question here. And these are the same questions I have been asking for years, the same questions I asked in seminary school. And I haven't heard many answers besides "Because the Bible says so". All religions say they are right and true. It is difficult for anybody argue for or against any religion to the exclusion of all others.

Except many Christians believe that there are rules that must be followed or you burn in hell forever. That isn't a relationship, that is a religion.

If you having a loving relationship with God, good. I believe I do as well. I have great faith in God, just not the Bible. I have almost no faith in humans. And last I checked, humans came up with religions.

This isn't true, even Josephus who was a secular historian at the time of Yeshua wrote in one of his books, I'm paraphrasing. "that this man who said He would die and rise again in 3 days did just that.'

Just one? I believe Damascus is still standing. If you need more, I would be glad to point out a few. But the Bible if inerrant should have 0
The destruction of Damascus is prophesied to happen in the last days. And if you haven't noticed Syria is about to fall, so I wouldn't cash your check on that one just yet. Please feel free to point out another, all you can think of and I'll show you, you're wrong. For there are 0 mistakes in Scripture.

What about the religions that were around before the bible? And once again I point out, where is the evidence that the Jewish Messiah ever came to be? I mean, even the Jews don't believe that.
I'm mean no disrespect, but you claim that you've done alot of studies in religion, but you are asking questions that are so easily determined from minimal study. If you've done any study on Yeshua than you would know that the majority of believers were jewish, until Paul and Peter spread the gospel to the gentiles. I'm hebrew and Israel is my home, granted there are alot of orthodox jews who don't believe, but there are alot who do. And if you knew scripture, you would know that God said He blinded them to see, so that the gentiles would benefit. (paraphrasing) Please show me proof of any religion older than YHVH.

How were they proven a lie exactly? Because the Bible says so? I will give you a challenge, if the the Bible is the true word of God, was has it been changed so many times throughout history? Wouldn't the word of God not need to be adjusted?
I'm sorry, again I truly mean no disrespect, but I just find it hard that you have done as much study as you claim, because of these questions. All these phony religions have been proven over and over, time and time again to be false because of the many discrempancies and contradictions. And as for the Bible being changed through out history, ( only in the last 1000 yrs. give or take) is because man is stupid and thinks they can make God's word better than He did. This is why we are in the mess we are because man doesn't listen. But the Word has not been changed in the sense that it is still infallable and NO one can prove ONE contradiction in it. This is why people go back to the original writings.

Look, I am not trying to bash or disprove the bible, I think I have a valid question here. Where did you go to seminary school? And how long were you their? It takes very little research to prove out the falsity of all the other so called religions.

If you don't believe in the Bible, then what god do you have great faith in? And do you believe in Messiah? I'm in full agreeance, religion is crap and is a stumbler for those who don't pay attn.

Then there is a flaw somewhere. Consider the possibility that the flaw is in your question and/or what you think would qualify as a 'good answer.'

Continuity in a religious text is a good reason to take it seriously. Jesus makes claims in the bible that are either true or they are not. Either position you choose should be supported by logic, if nothing else. I see no good reason to think he was lying, but perhaps you know something I do not.

People can explain to you why they believe it to be true, but if you're looking for smoking gun proof of God, you won't get it. If you're looking for a study to be performed that meticulously picks apart and debunks the entirety of every other religion, leaving us with Christianity being true by process of elimination, you (probably) won't get it. If you're looking for physical evidence as well as scientific and historical proof that everything in the Bible is factually and undoubtedly accurate, you won't get it.

So what are you really asking for?

I siply believe that believing in Jesus in the only way to have my sins forgiven and thus have the ability to be with God.
Like others have said, it doesn't make the religion "right", it just... well:

Either it is true or it is not. As I believe it is true, I will try to follow it, if it is not, I will not know until I die anyway...

Also other religions teach salvation by works whereas the Bible teaches salvation by grace through faith
