PHIL 4:8 - Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Have you ever noticed that some people tend to gravitate toward the threads that are more negative, discouraging, sensational and/or lewd topics? What does that say to unbelievers who glance at these threads? What message does it send to young people/young christians? How do think that might affect a christian’s walk after a time? What do you open yourself up to when you engage in this activity repeatedly? Do you think the people who do this are praying for the OP and edifying them, or do you think they just enjoy dwelling on such topics? If someone is struggling in a certain area, is it really helpful to them to dwell on it and end up reading 40-50 pages of the same posts/scriptures over and over and over, until the entire forum it’s posted in begins to reek?

I’m not saying that we shouldn’t attempt to help individuals who are truly struggling with an issue IN A TACTFUL WAY, however unpleasant. Life is not a bed of roses and we do need to approach it with clear, not rose-colored, glasses. We are most definitely here to EDIFY, pray for and inform one another; but at what point do we cease to accomplish this and, instead, end up entertaining ourselves at their expense?

I probably need to take a forum break because this is really discouraging to me…

1 THESS 5:11 - Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

EPH 4:29 - Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

ROMANS 14:19 - Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

Hi again Juilianna.

I agree, a lot of people do tend to lean towards the post that illicit debate. I know I am an offender of that. But I tend to keep posting on threads till they either go away, or some kind of understanding is reached. I don't just stick to the negative ones though, if I post in something I will usually keep discussing it as long as there is someone talking to me.

But I am stuck on the couch 23 hours a day, and this is one of my favorite forums.

And, if I may, I am fairly new here. Nov 2011 I joined up. And when I joined I saw post about suicide, and adultery and all kinds of stuff. But I saw meaningful discussions in most those threads....maybe not so much the satanist one but whatever. What I really noticed, and see there are still alot of are the prayer request. That was was my deciding factor in signing up.

Anyway, I hope I didn't push your buttons too much over there, you are one of the people I like here.

I don't think she means you. We are having a little back and forth, but it certainly isn't as heated and spiteful as many of the threads get. I rather enjoy talking with you. Good points, not offensive and you seem intelligent. So I don't think she is talking about you at all.

Lord we wanna lift up Jullianna to you Lord please help her to be encouraged. Oh gracious heavenly Father consume her with your Holy Spirit. Let us all be like David who encouraged himself in the Lord.

Jullianna if possible I staty encouraged at rough times when I have christian music playing. Or if I am tired instead of watching TV you can buy the entire bible on DVD now where people read the bible. You see the bible opened. I highly reccomend I got mine at hastings for 19.99 was a blessing to me. Look for Holy Bible on DVD not cd you will be amazed.
 
jullianna , im blessed everytime when i read ur posts ... pls try not to pay attention on negative posts ... the fact is fact we all dif and it cant be all positive and supportative anyway ... and pls jullianna , keep in mind tht ppl here are blessed to have u here
 

Luba, grown men are talking with little girls about extremely personal topics in the teen forum and it is turning my stomach in light of what happened to my son online when he was that age. I can’t stay here. It’s just too much. Even I have my limits.
 
oh wow ! yeah, thts too much ! but jullianna , if u will walk away whos going to help those teens to stay away from such ppl ?? specially if u know what it may bring talking with such men

Ya know the girl that posted the question came back just a little while ago.

And Jullianna, I love ya, but I really don't see what anybody said that was so bad. Almost the entire discussion was about what the bible says on the subject. Even an admin was in on the conversation.

I am sorry about what happened to your son, but I honestly don't believe anybody was in there to prey on anybody.

I think there was a general attempt at helping her answer her question, just not everybody agreed on the answer. If I missed something that was lewd, I apologize.

There are none so blind as those who will not see. Stop trying to make this about you. If I had wanted to engage in a conversation about this with you, I would have stayed in the garbage thread.

Awww , julieannie, you make me think of a song now, and, I think 'hard' talk is all a part of things, maybe doctrine gets in to the hard talk too much, when people start debatable threads, literally speaking of 'debate,' or , judgment bad threads. Either/or.

It is human nature for us to respond accordingly . And, for Christians, that response should be faith-based. I pray what I say includes my emotion, as the Lord leads, but it is ALWAYS from the Spirit leading.

I think for some people it may be helpful for a bit and then it becomes more of a hindrance than help. I stay away from threads on what I struggle with for that exact reason. I came to the realization that talking about it, acknowledging it, facing the facts, whatever you want to call it, is helpful but only for a short period at the beginning. Anything after the initial discussion with a close friend/mentor its worthless (for me anyway).

It's about people who call themselves christians who are more concerned about making points than they are about fellow believers. People who think that whoever can be the most obnoxious for the most extensive amount of time makes one right no matter who they hurt.

I'm not attacking you. I'm asking you to leave me alone and stop trying to make this thread about you and about a thread in another forum. It's not. It's about christians being discourteous toward one another. If I wanted to talk about what you want to talk about, I'd be posting in the trashy thread. I'm going to ask you one last time to leave me alone.

yeah , its terrible when it happents , jullianna ... but theres nothing what u can do about them unless they will understand themselfs of how they act towards others ... we can just pray i guess for those ppl .may God bless ur heart jullianna

I can't believe you're leaving too, Dianna. I've always felt that this place needs more moderation to keep things running smoothly. I've seen a number of people leave because the arguments (a.k.a. discussions) here really turn people off to the point that they just get disgusted with the site altogether. A lot of threads just need to be closed once they turn into a grudge match in my opinion. There's nothing we can do about it, except to accept it or turn a blind eye to it. This is why I'm here mostly to just have fun. I started out like you wanting to mostly edify, encourage and help others and sometimes I still do but my toes have been stepped on a few times too many in here so I've shifted my focus to just being here because its fun and interesting. I will still gladly help and encourage anyone who needs it here, but I stay out of most discussions and I don't start threads that I think will encourage or enlighten people because I found out that that's the best way to get your toes stepped on. I'm not sure of the exact thread in question, but i do know that sometimes what i see on CC leaves me feeling discouraged and in need of a break from it as well. I hope you can get your batteries recharged, so to speak, while on hiatus, Julianne.
