I've got something I'm worried about and I'd like your guys' opinion on it:

If we notice something we could be doing better in the physical realm, does that mean our relationship with God is suffering? I really don't know how to word it better than that. I'll give you the situation that brought this to my mind; I'm sure it'll make better sense:

One night I was talking with a girl, and it came up in our conversation that she had hurt her leg the last evening. I asked what happened, and the conversation went on. The next time I saw her the next day, I asked about how her foot was doing, and she didn't hesitate to remind me that it was her leg. Needless to say, I felt like a jerk, but I didn't focus on my error so much that it brought me down or anything.

I got to thinking, "If I don't apparently care enough to listen to someone who I can see with my eyes, am I listening to God like I should be?"

Now, I know I can't base this kind of thing off of one problem. I also know I'm not perfect, blah blah blah.

Is it a safe assumption (or conclusion) to make that the root of this kind of problem is with my relationship with God, as in I'm not listening to Him?

And like the last question, could things in the physical be an indication that something in the spiritual is awry?

I think this goes back to looking at the spiritual and not the natural. X] if we're on the same page.

Yeah, I feel like if I look more on the spiritual than the natural, things would flow better, including situations like this.

Personally, I think that you just forgot that it was her leg. The fact that you remembered that she had been hurt at all is significant.

Now, when it comes to God, there are times in all our lives when we don't listen as closely as we should, whether for selfish reasons (wanting to do what we want regardless of what God wants) or just because we're distracted and have other things on our minds. So, the best way to deal with this is to set aside quiet time with God every day to read His word and pray and listen. If you are unsure if you are listening, take the time to really and truly wait. Don't rush the alone time with God. Match what you hear to His word. If it doesn't line up, it either isn't God speaking at all or you weren't listening closely enough. God will never go against His word. You can always check your hearing against that.

I hope this was helpful. :)

Thanks; this was helpful :D

Agree with Mystdancer50.
In essence you recalled the injury which showed immediately that you had not forgotten the lady nor a significant factor that had been causing her trouble.
You showed her that you are a caring, empathetic & considerate person who listens to what people say & will use what you've been told as a basis for asking after their well-being.
I would certainly value a conversation with you.

Now I'm thinking I overreacted. At least I learned something :/ Thanks, jimsun.
