The "end" in this context is speaking of the destruction of Jerusalem, the end of the Law of Moses:
Matt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come
Col 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
6 Which is come unto you, ad it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
Paul said here in Col the gospel had come there and into all the world. Not long after Paul wrote his Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in A.D. 70
Lk 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh
Feed, in verse 2, Jesus speaks of Jerusalem coming destruction in 70 a.d., but, immediately, in v. 3 , the disciples , misunderstanding Jesus talking about temole destructioj and not end times destruction, but, yes, they are then asking Jesus, ”
Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming and at the end of the age?”
Verses 4,5:
And Jesus answered, ” Take heed that no one deceives you.....”
Verse 6 speaks of wars,and rumors of war, but, Jesus tells disciples,
'the end' is not yet.'
Now, for these disciples, they thought Jesus was speaking of the end times.
But yes, after coming 'earthquakes, famines....the beginning of sorrows....tribulation....hated by all naions...betray one another, false prophets deceiving....lawlessness...love of many growing cold....he who endures until the end shall be saved.' (verses 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13).
And, then, feed, we get verse 14, ” And the gospel of the kingdom will be preached and all the world as a witness to all the nations and then the end will come.”
Now, feed, buddy, Christ bro, the next verse does speak of Jerusalem coming destruction, as foretold by prophet, Daniel, but, for my interpretation, and, Dear Lord... Amen, I pray , I only want He who gave me life to speak through me this revealing, but.......
...there is just TOO MUCH talk of 'the end' in verses preceding 'the end' in verse 14 for this whole passage of scripture to not to be foreshadowing, , besides Israel destroyed by desolation coming (70 A.D.) , by Jesus, telling without truly telling when He is coming again.
And, yes, this v. 14 is talking about Israel preached to as the world to hear the gospel, but there are other verses in scripture, aren't there, feed, that speak apart from abomination of desolation for Israel in 70 A.D. , not one of which verses is the great commission verse that essentially says we are to go inti ALL THE WORLD AND PREACH THE GOSPEL .
I appreciate you, too, brother, iron sharpeneth iron
