Give me a few moments to finish the poll. :) It's multiple choice and anonymous.

Usually I need to be alone with God. As alone as possible, for as long as possible.

I actually can't think of a time that I would consider really difficult to be able to say what exactly I need. I am always interested in new insight into the Word, interpretations and how others have applied it to their life.

Though it wasn't an option, spending time talking to God is probably what I do with most of my struggles.

What I need most is an explanation so I can view it within the context of my life as a whole.

In my darkest hours, the one thing I need most of all is reassurance from God that He is with me and will deliver me from
my affliction.

He has never failed me, even though there were always moments in those dark hours when I doubted Him.

Mark 5:24-34 (Jesus heals a sick woman)

A large crowd followed and pressed around him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.

At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”

“You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ”

But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

Through your faith He will heal you too, Dianna.

God bless.

I'm finding that's what I need the most... If I get quiet time with Him I handle bad situations much better.

I should have given a better explanation. :)

What I meant was, when you are dealing with something that you bring to this forum, what responses are truly helpful to you?

I think most of us would certainly want to take it up with God first, but we are to encourage one another as well, aren't we? :)

Go ahead and kick me when I'm down, I'm man enough to handle it. :D

^^Actually I didn't pick that option in the poll, but I bet whoever did won't fess up to it.

I picked that I need good scripture and someone to pray for me. Since there was a bit of a change in the question after I read the other posts, I would have to say when I am having a hard time I don't come here or to any forum. I am a private person and it is to my prayer closet I go and the word of God to find my answers. You are right though. The Bible does say we need each other:

I Corinthians 12:21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."

We are one body of Christ who need each other to survive. If we would learn just to turn to each other in times of hurt, sorrow, anger, or pain then we would grow closer and stronger as a body.

I don't know how it is for others....but for me, when I have a problem and I am looking for advice, I actually need to know that people understood my problem and that they care from an imperfect (wohooo my nick name on here) and human way.

A lot of people just give scripture and brush it off and say, God is in control, God is this, God is that and that might be very true, but before brushing it off with unspecific scripture, I guess I need people to understand.

Often my struggles or problems have somethiing to do with my background, my culturee or my family and the way they are, so I neeed someone to listen to me and understand all the aspects and then rather than giving me scriptures, I need to pray together and some encouraging words from their own experience, for example.

That's what helping me the most.

An old pastor said once that there are times when we need to talk with our brothers and sisters in Christ about things because "we need to talk to Jesus with skin on". :)

Very true..

Applicable Scripture, someone who hears and cares, someone to pray with, and someone who will be real with me when I'm real with them.

Actually, you know who it is ;)

Usually if I'm going through a hard time I need someone to snap me out of it. Someone to remind me that its NOT who I am, rub my nose in it, and then tell me to get over it.

Scripture and pep talks are nice but, really that person who wants to change me, is going to have to eat a few "NO"s and still be there.

I lived in my own depression for like, 1.5 years. Finally, someone came in and shook me into remembering that I used to be passionate about more than just mopey reminiscing.

^This is good information to have^ :)

I have those times. God will let me get by with it for a VERY short period of time and then it's like...okay..pop the pity party balloons and get over it already, I have things for you to do. You weren't made for this. :)
