All right, everybody:

How much older or younger would you go when it comes to dating, a relationship, or marriage? Or does age not matter? And why? What have your own experiences been? (My age range from personal dating/relationship history has been two years younger to ten years older; the last guy who asked me about starting a relationship was 28, but we were at different places in life and decided it wouldn't work out.)

For myself, I used to say, "Well, no younger than such and such [say, 27] and no older than such and such [say, 40]," but I think right now I'm getting to a point to where it's like, "Ok God, go for it, whatever you think is best."

Because what if God has someone PERFECT for me and he's 26 or 41 I won't even talk to him or give him a chance because of that? (I've found in my experience that God often works like this too, at least in my life.) We'll see what happens.

Ladies and gentlemen... start... crunching the numbers. :)

And tell us what you think.

Thats a really good question...... To me age isnt a huge deal, because ive dated people that were like 6 and 7 years older than me and their maturity level was that of a 15 year old. I've also dated people younger than me and they were alot more with it and together than the older ones! So for me... it really has to do with maturity level there relationship with god, things like that. Although i wouldnt date anyone younger than 22.

Older women have turned out for me to by psycho or controlling, so I would only date a girl that was younger, and age, well, it depends on how old I get. I wouldn't want to be the creepy 40 year old guy that dates girls in their early 20's lol. So I'd say at most 8 years.

I agree (just for the sake of my own opinion) that the maturity level (throughout various factors in life) is most important to me (along with sense of humor! That's really important to me too--I need someone willing to laugh at my corny jokes.) Although, as I've stated in other threads... I get a little leary of older guys because it's always been older (a lot older) ones who tried to talk to me. (Sorry if you've read my other posts and I'm sounding repetitive) but when I was around 17 (or even younger), guys in their 40's and 60's would try to talk to me. (YUCK, I already have a daddy and a grandpa, sorry.)

But now if someone 40 tries to talk to me, I literally have to smack myself in the forehead and say, "HOLY CRAP!! That's my age range now!!"

What can I say? I guess I'm forever young at heart :)

*LAUGHS*

The heartbeat part is easy... defining and qualifying "adult male" can be the challenge...

haha what an interesting post

im attracted to guys who are mature and independent, so i think id only date older.

I'm 19, I'd date up to... 35 I think. but like you said originally, if someone is older than that I wouldn't completely rule them out.. but you get much younger and its going to end up being someone in high school which I don't think I would do.

5 years either way. No compromise. This is question 4 on my girlfriend application form.

Maybe that should be the next thread...

"How to Develop The Perfect Potential Date Questionnaire" (with proven scientific results.)

My rule of thumb is usually about a generation so give or take 10 years. Then again I think what if I met someone wonderful 11 years older than me. That said, pray about it, and your first instinct is probably your best advice. If it seems uncomfortable to date someone 15 years older/younger, then don't date them.

I agree with Missy though, I'll take an adult male with a heartbeat please :)

Do you really NEED that heartbeat though? I mean, no need to be greedy...

My age range is up tp 3 years older, and no younger. I dated a younger guy once and that didn't turn out very well.

Ummm......ok, well, I havent had too much choice lately as males are slim pickings where I live! haha......
But seriously - I simply cant define an age because age is simply a number and does not indicate the maturity and lack or abundance there of....so...do I have a defined age range - simply put NO. As long as he is a male, breathing and we have stuff in common = sweet! lol
