Depends how you celebrate it, eh?

Originally it was to remember the dead.
I see no good reason for adults to dress up like skeletons though. Then again, it is a very new thing in Norway, so I see it as silly.

We would dress up in silly clothes and go caroling between Christmas and new years eve as kids. I prefer that.

This is just my personal opinion. I don't have anything to do with Halloween and I don't open the door to anyone knocking on my door for sweets. Its a pagan festival relating to the dead. Nothing to do with Christ.
There's a lot of history about it stemming from the Celtics. It spiritually bad stuff

It's best to stay indoors and pray! It's the occultists favorite holiday, a lot of sacrifice, a lot of spells being cast, a lot of sin, reckless partying, and costumes that are seductive and evil.

Even though it isnt a Christian holiday, I still love the idea of it. I think of it as one of our greatest displays of comradery between us fellow humans. When else do we all collectively give to random strangers? I won't be afraid of giving a child a sweet just because he is in a costume. Though Halloween at my age is very different than staying home and giving out Candy. . . its pretty much an excuse to be promiscuous, and that is indeed to the detriment of God.

Personally I love Halloween. I love the costumes, the candy, the spooky stuff. I look at Halloween with the innocent eyes of a child and I refuse to see it any other way because to me that lets darkness win. In this day and age it is a spooky fun holiday for the kids. There are satan worshipers everywhere and they use any excuse they can to do really bad stuff at any given opportunity.
If anything we should spend that day off and on praying for all of those lost to the devil in their devil worshiping and ask God to deliver their souls because apparently they totally have the devils version of wool pulled over their eyes. This year we are going to pass out candy to the little kids. I have to say this is the first time in my life to pass out candy because we have always lived so far out and I am excited about seeing all the costumes and about praying over all the little ones getting candy that it is safe.

So my friends, lets make this a day of prayer on Halloween for the children and for the devil worshipers right here on Christian Chat because we all know if you have been on this website for awhile that our prayers get shot straight to Heaven because of the sheer volume of people praying here. Lets battle that darkness as one wanna anyone? Now someone help me remember to start that thread on Halloween. lol

AMEN! I agree fully.
Any Christian who is "Okay" with celebrating this Satanic, wicked Ritual's Spiritual walk is questionable in my opinion. You MUST search the history of the celebration, and then tell me your still "Okay" with it.
If you choose this event as a night og "giving" (of gospel tract with a side of sweets) I understand that. Otherwise celebration is not for christians to partake in. Spiritual wickedness, principalities, and powers are more than you want to deal with. trust me. Should I say trust God's world, when he says to come out from among them and be seperate. and love not the things that are in the world, for you can't love the world and God at the same time. Not my words. It's God's.

Truthfully it's both.
Oct31rst is one of the two highest unholy days in wicken culture.
But it also has been adopted by the culture as a 'fun in the cobwebs' sort of fear feast.
I personally don't have a discriminate position on it.
Except I hate satan and people who worship him with blood sacrifice. (which is called for on this night)
To most it is harmless fun, but it does bother me that such a day is celebrated by the society at large.
But then again, need I mention Saturnalia?(Dec.25th)

Wow. I never stopped to think about this, OFM. I used to dabble in the occult and I really believe someone prayed for me. I should pay it forward and pray for those still dabbling in the occult!

My greatest halloween memory: I took a friend to a church service, and he was delivered from drug addiction! I wish that I can find another church service this halloween. We also had food and fellowshipped. It was all about Jesus no halloween traditions.

Yup, it's definitely a night of spiritual activity.
And 'greater is He that is within you than he that is in the world', so.........
triumph in Christ who made a show openly in the very kingdom of hell.
All power is His;
It doesn't matter what night it is.

I mean halloween parties dont tend to be any different than other parties that go on, so i odnt see a problem going to them. The same activities go on regardless of the date. Also I honestly dont remember the last time anyone i know cast a spell, sacrificed something or cursed someone just because it was halloween. I sense a lot of fear in here for something that has become about giving out candy and throwing parties with friends.

Worship is in the heart so you are not worshipping Satan just by celebrating Halloween. It isn't my personal favorite holiday, but I believe its a chance to reach out to people . Your average kid is not worshipping Satan on Halloween They are collecting candy and goofing off. Who says its our job to condemn them? If you think this holidays bad then you better check all the rest of your holidays out. You could argue some good cases against celebrating them also.
I don't judge those who choose not to celebrate Halloween. Thats your choice. But I dont think it's anti-christ to celebrate it either. It's one of our biggest childrens outreaches of the year at my church. It's a blast.
