Star Trek. I grew up with it.
Star Wars. I grew up with it, I remember waiting outside the Roxy theatre , for about two hours in line, all of age 1O 3/4, thrilled as could be to be seeing it and then...
...i thought it was ok. Not great.
I think back now to the daily episodes of Star Trek I used to watch age 10 to 13 and those memories are further etched in my mind for that time of age for me. But then...
...in 1981, the 2nd installment came out for Star Wars and my family tok me to see that and I just loved thst one, except the part where Vader cut off Luke's hand, that darth big meanie. Then came, think was 2 years later, The Return of the Jedi, now, that movie rocked ewoks. I LOVED that one, as, I stood in line with my mom's nursing friend for 2 hours on opening night, that was the best, LOVED the teddy bear people and forest battle scenes on the flyscooter thingamajigs.
So, you take my love of watching Star Trek three years straight against my love of watching Star Wars, and, there id, ultimately, just something about the old, cool blobs on the ceiling, and, strange life on other planets and Starship Enterprise complete thinking and, I think, reason I appreciated Star Wars 2 (empire) and Star Wars 3 (Jedi) was....
....my original appreciation of Star Trek.that deserves credit, fully, for piqueing my interest in Star Wars Trilogy and all other shows I watched, was it 'Space 1999?' Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers in the 21st Century, etc.
Note: i never watched Voysger or deep space nine or any Star Trek movies, except save the whales one, whoich i liked, a lot. I gurss, by age 14 or 15 i didn't fare for that stuf., anymore.
