Sounds like your saying that if a woman gets raped and ends up pregnant, then the only right choice is to have an abortion? Which would mean not having an abortion, and keeping the child, would be the wrong choice. Where is the "free will" in that?

Not at ALL what they're saying. They're saying that simply because a woman gets raped doesn't mean she should not have the OPTION of abortion. If the mother's life is in danger through childbirth, she should have the OPTION of abortion. Using it as optional birth control? WRONG. Using it preserve the life of the mother? the OPTION should be there.

first i did not strik on you i just Quoted your comment
I'm sorry I was not more clear. I keep forgetting that English is not your first language, and I will try to minimize my use of slang or other potentially confusing phrases. Just so that you know, in English, when you say a person "strikes out" at another, it means they disagree or argue vehemently. You disagreed with me vehemently. That's all the phrase means. It's not necessarily a bad thing. I think it's great that you have such passion. So when someone accuses you of "striking out," by no means should you deny it; wear that label proudly!

second do you think yourself agree with me ?!
you wrong brother
First of all, I am female, so "sister" would be more appropriate ... but I know it's hard to keep track. By the time you're posting a response, the screen doesn't show you any information from the profile, so if you forgot to look closely at my profile before clicking "respond," I understand why you might make that mistake. I make it all the time myself. Just another reason to slow down, breathe, think before you click. Give yourself some time before you respond. It's a lesson I need to learn for myself for sure!

But more to the point, you and I are basically on the same side of this debate; at least, I think we are. I think you believe that abortion should remain legal, and that ultimately it should be the woman's choice whether to have an abortion or not. Most of the people in this forum disagree with us on this point, and believe that a woman should not have that choice, that the government should make that choice for her, and that the choice they should make should be to keep the child. At least until I read this post from you, I assumed you disagreed with that view, and agreed more with mine. Now I'm not so sure.

you think abortion is a sin even if it is because of a rape
Yes. I also think stealing bread is a sin, even if you do it to feed your family. It is still stealing. Whether any of the alternatives to stealing bread are better or worse does not change the fact that God said, "Do not steal." The fact that feeding your family is a more important thing than not stealing, and therefore there is nothing to feel guilty about, is an important one to make to someone who has stolen bread, if he or she is feeling guilty, but it doesn't erase the words that God said. The fact is, we all sin. Sometimes getting in your car and driving instead of riding your bike it's a sin. Choosing this brand over that one can be a sin. It's everywhere, all around us. Every time you turn around, you will see it staring its ugly eyes back at you.

As a Christian, we should not shy away from labeling sin sin. I don't mean we should go out and do whatever we want without consideration of consequence -- that is what the heathens do. Rather, we must recognize that there is sin, turn to Jesus, who is our ONLY hope in the face of that sin, and move on.

i think abortion is not a sin it is woman right
Well, I think it is both. I think it is both a sin AND a woman's right. Since when do women not have the right to sin? What, only men have the right to sin, but women have to be perfect? I must have missed the Gospel where Jesus said that.

Why can't it be both?

you think if a woman keep the semen of the rapist she can live healthy life
i think it is never healthy it is sick
Well, I know you're wrong here, because I know women who have kept the children resulting from rape and do live happy lives. I'm not saying EVERY woman can do this, and certainly not EVERY woman should, but I know there are some who can .... and if she can, she should .... if that is her choice.

you think abortion after rape is a sin but
i think it is not lousy choice it is the only right thing to do there is no choice
Now, see, here's where you might convince me that we are not in agreement. I am PRO CHOICE. I believe that the woman should always have the choice, whatever choice that may be.

You seem to be saying that if a woman is made pregnant through a rape, she shouldn't be allowed to carry the baby to term? Like, even if she wants to, she should be forced to have an abortion?

If that is what you are saying, then you are correct that we are NOT in agreement on this issue. You are just as bad as the extremists in any religious order, telling women what they may or may not do with their bodies. What ever happened to letting women make up their own minds, each one based on her own situation, in consultation with her doctor and her God?

All this still misses the main point of my previous point. You still need to step back and not be so angry with your words. I love your passion, as I said ... and I know that God can put that passion to good use. But unbridled passion without discipline can be a devil's playground, so beware. Keep your passion honed and directed for use in the Good Fight, my sister. I will pray for you.

it is not about your Diagnosis for what you do not like about me it is about rape victims right to abortion
And, unless I'm missed a point somewhere along the way, you vote AGAINST giving the woman a choice in the matter, whereas I vote FOR giving the woman a choice.

If it's about victims' rights, you already lost.

So, are you sure that's what this is about?

Sorry, smith, but that isn't what she said.

I would love to interpret what she said the way you did above, because I agree with you: it absolutely should be the woman's choice. But she was pretty adamant in saying that I was wrong, and that it was not the woman's choice.

you think if a woman keep the semen of the rapist she can live healthy life
i think it is never healthy it is sick
you think abortion after rape is a sin but
i think it is not lousy choice it is the only right thing to do there is no choice

Sorry, but I can't buy into that. I'm pro-choice, not pro-abortion. Personally, I have a big problem with anyone who wants to make blanket decisions for all women about reproductive rights.

Congratulations for overcoming it. I mean that in all sincerity. I have not. I probably never will be I've been told by too many pastors and Christians that I was a whore as a child and probably begged for it to happen. I don't go outside past when I get out of work. I refuse to stay in a house by myself in the dark. I understand PTSD as well. But that's what I get for asking to be raped. I know.

Smith, you were not a whore, nor are you now. You have never been, nor ever will be. What you went through was abuse and yes rape. As I stated earlier, I have been very fortunate not to have to deal with thinking about an abortion, but that doesn't mean I don't understand what you are going through, because I do understand sexual abuse. In my case I was fortunate that it stopped short of sex. However, I do go through those same emotions, "Was it my fault, did I ask for it." And part of that was because the person was close in age to me. Did I ask to be abused as a three year old, no, nor did I ask to be abused as a twelve year old. Nor did you. The pastors and other Christians who told you that more then likely have no clue as to what you've gone through. I don't know if you've been to this site, rainn.org, but I think you should. You might just realize that everything you've gone through, emotion wise, is normal. And you maybe able to find the help you need. It does take time to heal, and yes, you can heal, but the only way to do so, is by letting God have complete control in your life. And you may be doing that now, or are struggling to do so, I don't know. But God can and will heal you. Just remember, a broken bone takes time to heal, and so does a broken heart.

My last post on this thread was completely out of bounds and
over the line.

Well, I just learned a new troll behavior to watch for: someone who thinks an insult to the troll is funny, but compassion to it is insulting.... Very interesting.

This thread makes me laugh, its getting so out of control, heh.

At the end of the day, we're all accountable to God for our actions, every single one of us. I can't possibly control the actions and beliefs of everyone else, but we vote for the role we want our government to play in our lives and where we think they should spend . The Florida ballot specifically addressed the public funding aspect of abortion and didn't address the morality of it at all, and I'm thinking that may be that's the case as well for the other states? (You guys tell me...) I am still led to believe that abortion is a sin, but let's not have taxpayer dollars appropriated towards it. We also had an amendment on using public funds towards religious institutions this year, which I also fundamentally oppose. (Amendments 6 and 8 if anyone is curious) I don't want to foot the bill for something I think is a sin, or expect every taxpayer to step in and fund 'religious' projects that they may/may not believe in.

Going back to the original question/statement (?), though,...I emphatically and 100 percent believe that all life is a gift from God, and that all life has value, even a life conceived out of rape.

I kind of want this thread to go away. The title is ugly. >_<

Off topic, but just sayin...

In some states (such as your own Florida), this is the issue. But in others, it's more than that. Republicans are trying to pass legislation that makes abortion illegal. So not only would taxpayer dollars not be used, even if a woman were to pay for it herself, she could not get one legally. In the official party platform material, the party states that abortion should be illegal in all cases, even in cases of rape, incest, and when the mother's life is at risk. That means that if she has an ectopic pregnancy that has 0% chance of coming to term, and 100% of killing the mother if it is not removed, it is still illegal to have it removed. No one who is pro-life can logically be in favor of that stance, but that is what the Republican Party's official platform is.

We could make arguments about public funding of abortions, and I can totally see both sides of that one. But as for its legality, I cannot see any argument for the government, a bunch of mostly men who have never met me, to decide for me and my doctor what is best for me. I will make those choices between myself and my God, thank you very much.

We are in 100% agreement on this issue!

I have to agree with you on the ectopic pregnancy. As much as I hate abortion, unless something in technology changes where they finally create a womb outside the mother's body, we are probably unfortunately going to have to lose the ectopic babies. Because if I'm right, they still haven't found a way for the baby to survive at a few weeks outside the mother's womb. And well, if she dies, so does the baby.

We don't always see eye to eye, but I really love how courteous you are to everyone you respond to, even when you get a reaction that might not be so nice. Just wanted to say thanks, sister.:)

why there is people think this topic is ugly ?is not the ugly thing saying the rapist semen is God gift

by that statement you will face why if he want to give her a gift why he just help her to not get rape ?

how can people see something good out of rape

where is the rape victim in the picture

woman did not brain washed by religion

the abortin is not about the rapist semen

it is about the victim

it is like saying stabing you is sin but stoping the bleeding is a sin because it is a God gift

Thank you so much, Hellooo, for your kind words. It means a lot to me! I do try to be kind to everyone, no matter how much I may disagree, because I just think that's the way we should be. I lose my temper more often than I care to admit. (Heck, once is too often!) I am thankful beyond words that we serve a merciful God whose son is always ready to forgive.

Thank you, again, Hellooo, and may God continue to bless you.

It isn't the children's fault that this happened to their mother. If a woman sees her child as nothing more than a disgraceful thing that happened to her then she has issues that should be resolved. all women should see their children as the most beautiful gift God can give.

Murdock won the election. Why are women so afraid that a republican is going to take away their legal right to an abortion? the past presidents didn't even try.Don't worry about it. U will always be allowed to end your child's life BEFORE it is born. No matter how sad that is.:(

It is scary we got people like this guy in public office. A gift from God? Who is he kidding. Would I want my sister, mother, or girlfirend to be raped, and have to be reminded of it the rest of their lives? NO. I am Catholic, but there is not way on this earth anyone will convince me this is a gift of God conceived with a violent act like rape.

. A gift from God? Who is he kidding.
Like it or not, it's what scripture says.

3 Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.

Scripture makes no exception for those sired in evil.
