Are you ignoring the part that I said Jupiter?

At this point, we're really just arguing semantics over the phrases stop and stood still, and for no apparent reason.

The documentary addresses the comet idea. From a biblical standpoint, a comet doesn't make sense here. For one, comets aren't going to "stop" (and I'm just using the word stop here for simplicity of avoiding a 2 paragraph explaination of what is meant by the word stop). Also, the ancient people knew the night sky very well, better than what we do. They didn't have TV or text messaging or internet, so what would they do? They would study the night sky. This wasn't their first time looking up at the stars and being completely clueless about it. Why is this important? King Herod and his counsel were completely unaware of what the wise men meant when the wise men said they saw the signs in the sky. If it was a comet or meteor shower or something obvious like that, everyone would be talking about it, and King Herod would have already been aware of such an event. A comet simply doesn't fit the descriptions.

Here's a link to the documentary, the first part anyways.

You have absolutely zero understanding of Physics.
You know nothing about me, you cannot back up your statement of mockery, and you didn't explain what was wrong with anything I said or explain why it was so wrong. Then again, that's just typical behavoir for people like you. Throw out your whitty one liners and pretend they're true, despite the lack of any substance to your words.

Oh, you better wake up, you better face facts
Cause Jesus Christ wants His holiday back
Santa Clause is an idol God

This idolotry, perversion of truth
commercialism deceiving our youth
Santa Clause is an idol God

We're lying to our children. we want them to believe
That fat man in a big red suit is coming on Christmas eve

Oh, this is not why our God sent His son
It really is an abomination
Santa Clause in an idol God

It's about Jesus Christ and this is His day
It's time to put all this nonsense away
Santa Clause is an idol God

You know that God is watching
You know that He's not pleased For christians to buy a buncha junk
So Santa can get glory

Oh, you better wake up, you better face facts
Cause Jesus Christ wants His holiday back
Santa Clause is an idol God

Awesome point! Too bad some folks want to get on a biblical tangent of correction

Thank you. This is the presentation I heard some years ago on TV. Jupiter crowning regalus and retrograding does it for me. One minor thing, Dec. 25 is not established as the day they saw Jesus, merely the day they determined where to look. More importantly, Jesus could have been up to two years old at the time (Herod killed the babies up to age 2). The viewing was 2/3BC, sometime in late December, again probably during Hannukah, as was Jesus' annunciation. Jesus born in 4BC is still viable. I think he is absolutely correct on this whole study, except one point: "we have seen His star in the east" does not have to mean "it rose in the east". It could mean "we have seen His star while we at home in the East." It is not important to the correctness. I am completely convinced he is correct on the date.

I went to his website to save time watching the youtube video. It is word for word the same. I also saw His presentation on the crucifixion. About two weeks ago, wolfinoxhide and I pretty much established the crucifixion date much ealier, like 27 BC, based on the date of Passover. His assumption that the eclipse of 34BC is not correct, that it is the event mentioned in Scripture. Besides, Jesus would have had to be at least 35 if that were true, so His ministry lasted at least 5 years. I think it would be easier to look for an event that could open tombs also, like an earthquake with massive piezoelectrical effects, enough to cause the gathering of clouds.

For whatever it's worth, the folks in the middle ages had astrolabes that could do these computer calculations geometrically. The problem of the Wisemen was solved as soon as the error in Josephus had been discovered. I had learned 4BC as a kid, and I think it came from these calculations done back in the dark ages.

This is so true, you say he is an idol and he is. In school, kids make craft Santa calenders and color Santa pictures, or other things like that. Does anyone make/draw nativity scenes? or draw pictures of angels surrounding a manger? or anything along those lines?

No. they don't. Kids are mislead and its not really their fault. It's their parents. But its going to be when they have kids. Too much Santa, not enough Jesus. We need to realize that before Christmas becomes a day just for getting presents.

I've tried that on this site. It doesn't work. Mockery is all that remains.

Just to add to the confusion. Most churches that celebrate gift-giving in honor of the Wisemen do it Jan. 6. i did not know stars could stop over towns, according to our science.

One day, as a Christmas decoration, my wife took a portrait of the last supper, and made party hats for the disciples from Christmas paper, and in the center, she put a large, wrapped box, marked "Happy Birthday, Jesus", and a picture of a cake with candles on the table. Half her friends laughed, and half told her she was going to hell for it.

So don't be depressed; don't act forlorn
Just 'cause you don't know what day He was born.
Jesus Christ is coming today.

He arrives everyday, in things that we do,
Beginning again, with a new birth in you.
Jesus Christ is coming today.

He's waiting when you call Him,
He's ready if you are,
Just let His glory shine in you,
And be a Christmas star.

Wisemen still seek Him, you know that it's true,
So let them find His joy living in you.
Jesus Christ is coming today.

Heeeey!
I just realized you were doing this to the tune of, 'Santa Claus is coming to Town' as well.

Humph. *shrugs*

Well, at least someone noticed. Thanks for the constructive feedback (now I know it was because I didn't specify that it was to that tune, that no one noticed.) Mine is the third in the last four days in CC.

So in other words you can't explain why I'm wrong. I understand though, you can't do it because you know you can't and you already know that you're wrong. It's very standard behavoir for scoffers.

No no, what I actually said was "I've tried that on this site. It doesn't work. Mockery is all that remains." I meant precisely that. Don't be so angry.

I'm not angry, I have nothing to be angry about. You claimed I didn't know anything about physics, and you simply cannot back up your statement.

I think this is what we should celebrate, not Santa and gifts. Watch- the reindeer puts it out there plain and simple:
