Why in the world is there even a link in the "people who like" list in a post?????????????????????????

The list "wraps", doesn't it?

(...and # others like this.)

And, if it just has to be  - why only three people listed - and then you have to click the link to "open up" the list of [as little as] one more name? Why not have the first 7 or 10 people listed initially? You could at least have 5! There is room for them. But, three???

"This is totally and utterly 'stupid' and 'useless'..."

I am "utterly sick" of the whole world being caught up in the idea that:

"We want to know every little nuance about people's choices - so we are going to make them 'click click click click click' every little [unnecessary] thing so we can collect and know this information..."

("Have you ever noticed this, out on the internet?")

This is "New World Order" thinking - not "Faith in Christ" thinking.

As Christians - are we going to let ourselves get caught up in this ungodly practice? Or, should we be willing to trust our brethren as far as allowing them the benefit of what is 'natural' and 'expedient' and 'convenient' (for everyone's sake)??? And, don't we want this site to "operate" as efficiently as possible for the membership?

And don't go quoting me scripture. There is nothing wrong with 'natural' and 'expedient' and 'convenient' when it is conducive to a more peaceful frame of mind.

There is no reason in the entire universe why anyone should have to click a link to see the rest of the names in the list...

(Especially for just one more name.)

The absence of subconscious 'kaos' is worth-while in-of-itself.

I have no problem whatsoever with having the 'like' list in the post, however:

The full list should be displayed initially, without a link at all - even if there are 100 names in it.

/rant over.

:)

Your rant is OK, but I'm not certain just what you are ranting against. Maybe you could add a poiint of reference for us.

He's saying that having a popularity reference-(which is what 'likes' is), on a christian website is ironic.
Seeing as we would be "hated of all men for His namesake".
So the number of likes really in the final analysis, is no telltale way of showing a God inspired thought.
But I am still young and immature,......(so I 'like' it).:p

For example:

CC-sample-LikeList-20121210-01.jpg

'1 others' is a link. You must click it to "open up" the rest of the list:

CC-sample-LikeList-20121210-02.jpg

I am saying that this is totally unnecessary and that the whole list should be displayed initially so that it ALL can be read without having to click a link.

I know it may sound petty - but, sometimes, it can be very annoying - especially in light of the fact that it is totally unnecessary, and only three names are initially displayed. (Look at all of the "wasted" space...)

You just want to see more assurances.............
What I like,......is having to find out the 'likes'.......
That is what I like.

I don't like posts in all colors of the rainbow, different letter sizes, all kinds of fonds and excessive use of punctuation marks. But you don't see ME complaining about THAT... :p

This thread already got 'liked' once... the irony...

Are you being hyperbolic when you say..

This is "New World Order" thinking - not "Faith in Christ" thinking.
As Christians - are we going to let ourselves get caught up in this ungodly practice?
Are you equating the CC like button to new world order thinking and ungodly practices?

No.

I do not have anything against the CC like feature or the CC like button.

Why is this not exceedingly clear? Does post #7 not explain it well enough?

OP forgot his meds.
The OP does not take meds. Never has.

The OP does, however (by the grace of God), have a unique understanding about the world that most in the world do not seem to have.

Just as it is possible to "see God at work in the midst" - it is also possible to "see Satan at work in the midst"...

If you "understand" Satan well enough, then you will be able to "see" his 'handiwork' clearly and readily...

The influence that brought this 'click click click click click' mentality into existance is a work of Satan.

"Call me a 'nut-case' all you want - you will understand on Judgment Day..." (but hopefully long before then ;) )

:)

No, it does not. I think all people really see in your overall post is some wild, angry rant against the like button. Regardless of your intentions, your post was so poorly put together and so filled with what seems to be rage, that its hard to get past that.

It is possible that the OP is not satisfied about His personal recieving of "likes." Do you feel as though you are invisible on this chat site? No one really likes what you have to say? And now here they go again with this particular thread? I remember a comment you made a couple weeks back in a particular singles thread that brings me to this conclusion. I could be way off too.

I personally think your views are valuable, and "likeable" as well! ;)

OK GRA, I get it now. So in honor of your concerns, I did not click a single like button on this forum.

It is a good conclusion. But, it is only partially correct. The statements above that I have made green in color have some truth to them.

If I never received a single 'like', it would have no bearing on this issue whatsoever. Especially since - the greater portion of the time - it is other people's 'likes' that I am looking at where this issue becomes relevant.

However, I do receive them occasionally - and, I do very much appreciate them.

What I do not understand about this thread is why it is so difficult to understand. Does no-one else have to click the link to "open up" the list? Why does this seem so "foreign" to anyone?

I thought that taking snap-shots of an actual example and showing before-and-after views of it - and explaining it in [reasonable] detail - would be sufficient. (post #7) Why is it not?

I personally think your views are valuable, and "likeable" as well! ;)
"Thank you for the kind words."

I think if your post had said something like....

"It's inconvenient to have to click a link to see all the likes, can we fix that?"

Many would have gotten the point.

But your issue with having to click a link to see all of the likes was supplemented with discussion of "new world order thinking", "faith in Christ thinking", "ungodly practice".

So some may have seen said annoyance, supplemented with said discussion topics, and thought..."What's this fella gettin at?"

Just my theory. :p
