I am confused, you see for a good part of the day i have begged jesus to allow me to have a special dream i have wanted for a long time. now here is where i need help, i was going to post a prayer request for this dream to happen tonight for me when suddenly i felt strange, the air kind of got sucked out of me and i saw with my spiritual eye an angel close to me and told me in a very fast and almost whisper that i can have this dream tonight. i felt as if i was going to my dream right then and there because my dream happens in some place that may or may not be heaven. i dont know if i had a vision or if it was fake and i dont know if i am supposed to share this or not. can anyone explain this?

If it is, its usually a personal thing. I don't think its meant for the general public; say like the Word of God is. I would just study the Bible and not mess up at all doing it God's way if you want something like that. I hear you have to be careful what you ask for too; You might just get more then you wanted.

You must remember that Satan comes AS an angel of light and he can also manipulate your dreams. Asking God for a specific dream is simply asking God to tell you what YOU want to hear!! Better to ask God to speak HIS hear and will to you in your dreams and ask Him to help you remember them in the morning....and write them down!!
If you are asking for something outside of God' s will for you...you must know that Satan will be quite glad to give it to you just so that God's will will NOT be done in your life....you are having it YOUR way, rather that God's and Satan is just tickled to enable that to happen.
Remember, also, that dreams are METAPHORICAL, NOT LITERAL.

May I suggest Cindy McGill's book "Night's Corridor" which speaks about the meaning of dreams and how God uses them to speak to us...just like He used them back in Biblical times.

Job 33:
For God does speak—now one way, now another—
though no one perceives it.
15 In a dream, in a vision of the night,
when deep sleep falls on people
as they slumber in their beds,
16 he may speak in their ears
and terrify them with warnings,
17 to turn them from wrongdoing
and keep them from pride,
18 to preserve them from the pit,
their lives from perishing by the sword.

Just want to ramble on a little more, Like Maggie mentioned, These things have to inline with God's Word also. I can see how Satan may take advantage of something like this...But while in a hurry to receive something special , Don't neglect all the valuable truths and knowledge we have already at our finger tips for the taking. Read the bible to memorize it. And don't sin. Repent of sins. Do good. And perhaps you will have some what i call encouragements. But don't take it as a replacement for The Letter, Comforter. Revelation of Christ, etc.

Blaine,
I am wondering why you begged Jesus to allow you to have a special dream.

Blain, ALL visions and dreams of God is directly confimed in the Bible. Visions comes to people that are awake, and it is one of God's ways to explain parts in the Bible! Because God revealed ALL the secrets of old, HE has nothing to add to HIS WORD. It is ALL in the Bible, and the dreams and visions will unlock the mysteries in the Word of God.

God gives some people the gift to lay out other peoples dreams, like Danel and Joseph. Today there are still people that understand God's messages in dreams.

Take water.... water is useually meaning DOCTRINE, or the teaching of a gospel. Because God only has ONE DOCTRINE, clean and pure water, means it is the doctrine Jesus mentions in John 7:16. The ONLY TRUE DOCTRINE. God's! Any dirty water or somtimes looking clean but smelling foul water, is FALSE teachings and FALSE doctrine from satan.

Jesus often spoke about water, and that was not the drinking water, but LIVING WATER, the Word of God, the GOSPEL of God, the TRUTH! In dreams this is VERY clean and pure water. Useually calm in nature as well. Like water from a well. Many dreams have dirty, raging storm water that swollows up people and drag them away.... That is FALSE teachings and false doctrine that mislead and take people to eternal death!

Like I advized you before. Spend a lot of time with God in HIS WORD, revelations and teachings will follow! GOD LOVES revealing HIS WORD to honest SEEKERS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS!

From what you describe about the angel and the air being sucked out of you I would say that is a deceiving spirit coming to you. The Bible teaches us to seek God Himself...not dreams...not gifts either...nor power...Just seek Jesus, nothing else. If you are trying to get some direction from the Lord about a certain thing in life...just simply ask Him to lead you...dont ask for a dream. Let Him lead and speak to you in the way he chooses. He has many ways you know. Give me ears to hear Lord...is what I pray. Many times we do not know what to do, and cannot hear Him...because of idols in our heart. So I also pray that He would reveal the idols of my heart so I can be in a place to hear Him.
Seeking dreams and visions is bound to open you up to receive a false soulish or even demonic one.
God is the author of peace...not confusion...so any spiritual manifestation that does not leave us in a state of peace is usually not from God.

Maby some one who is a quick scripture study can find the scripture on this?
But scripture does say that these things cannot be willed by us, for such things happen only by God's will.
Anything we try to will to happen, is not of God.

:) Blain, your heart for Jesus is good and loving, but be careful, for satan likes to decieve.
Rest all in Jesus, and give all in His name to God, trusting in His will and plan for you. :)
He who has begun a good work in you will bring it to compleation.

God bless

I would say you would do well to read the Bible front to back Old and New my friend.

It is not to say that you will not encounter dreams and visions.

Ephesians 6

1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise) 3That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

5Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; 6Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 7With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: 8Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

9And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

21But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things: 22Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.

23Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen

Blain, when the Messiah was tempted what was His strength against satan?

Matthew 4

4 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Matthew 7

Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
6Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? 10Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

12Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

24Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

28And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: 29For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Blain, I have found for myself that if I fast and seek the Lord my visions and dreams increase with clarity. Maybe you could try that and see if what you already have becomes clearer....to know if it is truly from the Lord or from the enemy, or whether you are allowed to share it or seal it up.

Your first three words speak volumes Blain. God is not the author of confusion. You are seeking "spiritual experiences" when you should simply be trusting and resting in Christ's redemptive work on (y)our behalf.

Hebrews 11 :1
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

I think it very dangerous to eagerly WANT to have a dream or vision from God... Is possible that you want something so bad that you try to make it happen, like Abraham and Sarah did in trying to have the child God promised them, they themselves tried to make it happen through Hagar. Is it possible you want something so bad that you have self-induced experience? IMO, we should just wait on the Lord and be happy, taking in what light He gives us on a daily basis (through His Word and our relationship with Him in prayer and the Church). Meditate.

Understanding doesnt always come in one go. And someone else mentions about its dangerous......who is walking in fear here? God is BIG enough to bring revelation, clarity and understanding. Hunger for God should NEVER be squashed.
