I used to be afraid to let my feet dangle over the foot of my bed because I didn't want 'things' to touch my toes and take me away.

My older second cousins scared me with the bloody Mary thing, so I was afraid to look at mirrors at night, or have any stuffed animals or dolls out in my room when it was dark.

Lol I never believed in that, but I have a weird fear of mirrors and reflective surfaces of all sorts that continues to this day. I STILL try not to watch any scary movies unless I'm in bed...I'm usually the last one to go to sleep and I hate walking through a dark house with tons of reflective surfaces. Always afraid I'm gonna see someone (or someTHING) behind me in them, lol.:o

Did any of your older folks ever see the 1972 movie "Gargoyles"??? I saw that movie in the early 80's and it was the very first movie I saw that exposed me to the idea of "monsters under the bed". There is a scene in that movie when a couple is at a motel and while they are sleeping, a gargoyle's hand reaches up from under the bed (a still photo from that scene is below). I've been mentally freaked about things under my bed ever since.

But now when I see a hand come up over my bed, I am old enough to know it can't be a gargoyle (but I still don't know who's hand that is though!!!).

My sister pretty told me the same thing. I think I was in high school or maybe last year of junior high. Anyway, she told me to stay away from that kind of stuff because of her own personal experience, and that the demon apparently never went away until they called the pastor of her church to come and pray for them. I decided I didn't ever want to mess with that stuff.
yea a lot of stuff is disguised by the enemey as fun, when it's really part of the occult and satan worship, then you get these demonic presences attached to yourself. There is no "playing around" with the occult and demonic things. I shudder to think how many kids were affected by that stuff, I think one of the toy companies mass marketed the oiji board at one time

They did, it was Parker Brothers. I remember that very well, because at a New Years Eve party I had to make a choice, either play the game or not. I ended up leaving. And apparently the guys decided not to play, when I left. But the girls still did. I remember this specifically, not just for having to make a choice, but that one of my friends would tease me about it, saying she refused to taking anything made by Parker Brothers as serious.

it's not the board that is whats demonic,it's what you do with it, even people involved in the occult are often scared of those things, that says a lot, when you ask a demonic presence to speak to you, it doesnt want to leave again, like a leach, and they very much do what they say they do.

What I meant was that my friend refused to consider that it was more then just a game. And your right, it's just a piece of board. But, a piece of board or not, I still did not want to play with the occultic realm.

I have always been a bit scared of the dark when it's "too" dark and as a kid, I would see shadows and imagine they were doorways into the world of kid-eating monsters.

I figured if my toes or limbs stuck out from under my blankets and sheets at night, some kid-feasting monster would yank me out of bed by an exposed toe or arm and I'd be history!! BUT, the crazy thing is that if I had my sheets and blankets tucked under me all the way around (like a giant cocoon), no monster could get me because there would be nothing out there for him to grab!!

I too was like this.

But my worst fear was after watching nightmare on elm street. I did not want to sleep for a very long time, and just when I was starting to get comfy, a new Nightmare on Elm St. came up. I lived like this trough most of the sequels. As I watch them today I fall a sleep watching them because they are so boring. Come to think of it, maybe that is why I also have insomnia. lol

I was terrified of going on boats, because I thought that 9 times out of 10, they would sink (all the ones I had ever heard about had gotten the ol' deep-six, so I thought it was quite common).

Then when I was about 4, my parents surprised me with the information that we were going on a boat ride at the beach....I was always really quiet, so they had NO idea the terror they brought me with that announcement. When the trip got cancelled they told me how sorry they were, and it was years later before I told them what unspeakable relief I had actually felt. Lol, kids can be crazy, huh? :D

When I was little I used to believe that NORAD really was tracking santa claus on radar every Christmas Eve.
I still have to remind myself that its not true! (because as a grown-up I know that Santa's too fast for radar ;)).

I dont remember believing any thing when i was young....as soon as i learned to read, i read, anything i could touch even the dictionary. But i had cousins who were 15 years younger than me. an for a while i worked at a mental hospital. well they isued me a set of keys....one of them was a "skeleton key" I had to use it on many doors. any ways when my young cousins would play with my keys, they loved the skeleton key. when they asked me about it I told them it was a skeleton key, I put it in your belly button an turn it...an it will make your bones fall out. they believed me....an i would chase them around the house telling them i would steal thier bones.

As child, I think that lighting is the way God took a picture of human being.. so every time lighting come I did a pose.

I also used to believe the thunder sounds where made when God moved furniture.
Now I say he is moving things to make room for us.

Another silly believe where I grew up was to think that:
When it rains and it is sunny at the same time a witch is getting married.
