I went somewhere once where this was practiced. I was at a long table with about 20 guys and when I got up to use the restroom, they ALL got up. O_O Not super comfortable in my opinion. Lets just let that tradition die...

dude that would be super weird. i'd just turn myself right back around and walk out...and then probably back in...wash, rinse, repeat. ....just to see them going up and down like yo-yos

Ah, here's a good one. I have a close friend who was going to be away for my birthday, so she wouldn't be able to make it to my party (this was several years ago). She knew that, I knew that. So the party goes well (low-key but that's ok). I later received an angry sms from my friend about not getting an invite! But it never entered my mind that she would need one, if she wasn't going to be able to attend. What's the deal, girls? How am I meant to know to send an invite to my friend, even if when I know that they can't come? That little incident confused and angered me because I didn't understand what I did wrong. Care to enlighten me? Thanks.

ooh girls can be emotional little creatures, can't they....i'd say for future reference - even if you don't want to give an invite because it would be silly if you know for sure they won't be there, at least mention the event and say ''i wish you could be there''. then they know you thought of them anyway

Sorry about switching the tenses.

Yes, you could be right. I know that she had little confidence in herself but I seriously doubt that she liked me. She's like the sister I never had (we have fun together (with other friends) but are good at annoying the stuffing out of each other too).

haha...she'd probably say the same thing but the difference is when a girl says it, it's not true...''he's like my brother!'' **subtext...but i sure wish he was my man stallion o' looooove instead...**

Consider them pushed. lol

Nah, I'm not uber defensive about it or anything, it's just kinda sad when people don't care about what they put into their body.

Agreed. Junk in, junk out - whether mental, spiritual or physical.

meggars. Nah, I don't think she likes me as anything beyond a friend. My other friends, guys and girls haven't noticed anything that would suggest otherwise and even I could pick up any of the usual hints.

I agree. Let this tradition die. Also, some men will remain standing unless you sit down. Sometimes, I don't want to sit down because I've been sitting in cramp positions for long periods of time and need to stretch. And so when men refuse to sit, it makes me feel guilty, because I feel like I'm forcing them to stand so then I have to sit and be uncomfortable.

In my house we don't practice this, but nobody eats until dad starts.

Um, to RE-rail the thread....

This question isn't a question for women in general but rather women here in the forum. I dress for my lifestyle. I wear clothes and shoes that I know I can run in if I need to that I can work on people's stuff if I need to and that I can be comfortable in regardless of the change in temperature in the weather.

What is the main reason you ladies dress the way that you do?

What do you wear to support your reason?

I dress according to the occasion and according to my mood. Somedays I go to church in sweatshirts and jeans (as I was planning to do tonight) and somedays I like to look more feminine. I usually carry a jacket with me because I get cold very easily, so I also think of the weather.

I really don't have a reasoning behind my style...I just wear whatever I feel like wearing , either because I feel comfortable or because I wanna look pretty.

If I answer honestly about how that dress looks on you, will you promise not to hit me?

Well, if you, trying to be honest, tell me that my mom looks better in that dress than me, then no, I can't promise not to hit you.

Why do women never pick what they want to do on a date, then tell their friends said date was something really 'lame' that they didn't want to do?

Some women want to appear easy-going and flexible, when really they want you to defer all decisions to them!

Why do you complain about men being too aggressive/forward/affectionate, but then if a guy is a gentleman, think he doesn't like you if he isn't affectionate too quickly?

No one despises gentlemanly behavior. But there is a difference between being a gentleman who is pursuing a relationship, and being gentlemanly platonic. There are ways to still be a gentleman and still be affectionate and letting the lady know you are interested, and then there's the platonic shove-off/keep-her-at-a-distance/all we're ever going to be is friends... Sometimes it's genuinely hard to tell if you like us. :/

Why do so many women get snarky when you open the door to a building for them or offer your seat to them on a bus?

I guess some ladies want to be independent to the point of never accepting a gratitude from the opposite sex. This might mean we are weak and need help or something. I would never get snarky! I fully love and appreciate gestures of kindness, no matter who does them!

Why do you measure a man on how well he treats his mom, and then get upset if he gives his mom high priority once you're in relationship with him, and/or call him a momma's boy if he is close to said mom?

I usually don't measure a man by how he treats his mother. Maybe I am odd, but I like to measure a man by how he treats me.. but more importantly, how his relationship with God is. I kind of envy people who have good relationships with their mothers. I have a very business-like relationship with mine based on some things in our past. Maybe the women out there who begrudge a man his maternal relationship are the ones who have crappy relationships with their mothers and are bitter when they see a good relationship?? (Is "Momma's Boy" an insult? Daddy's girl isn't. Maybe we should explore this disparity!)

You must be canadian. You spelleed McDonald's wrong! :p

Lol.. then you must be American, because you misspelled ''spelled''... :D ;)

Same here.

You always look pretty.

No, unless you say it in a very tactful way on a day that I'm not running around insane. Oh wait, scratch that, I'm always running around insane. So no. :p

But seriously, I won't hit you, unless you truly meant to insult me, and then I might. Otherwise, I might just give you a very dirty look.

I don't know if I am from another dimension, but I don't know what the heck is going through some of your minds. Who cares what someone thinks of your dress? I mean as long as you don't look like a streetwalker or a transient, is it really so important to have your carnal vanity supported that you're willing to engage in childish emotional warfare? I mean, I know this is supposedly common but it makes me queasy to think of people behaving so foolishly and then practically bragging about it.
A woman should treat her husband with respect and take him at his intent. Just because it's 'easy' and 'natural' to throw around your tears and neuroses like a baby doesn't mean it's right to do so.
This is what happens when the authority of the husband is compromised...most 'Christians' these days are indistinguishable from Feminist loons.
