really?
that's the Law.
not the Gospel.

anyone saying they keep the Law without downgrading it to match their performance sure needs to hear the Gospel more, imo.

[or maybe they need more Law until they find out what trouble they're in without the Gospel:)]
Mar 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Mar 12:32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
Mar 12:33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
Mar 12:34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

*cough*

surely you folks don't think you obey those two commands [which encompass the whole Law] do you?
if you think you do, Christ died for nothing since you are fulfilling the whole of the Law.

really?

Q:

who here claims to fulfill the Law?
It was foolish of me to imply that I did through obedience to His Voice, His guidance.

WE FULFILL THE LAW THROUGH LOVE. WE LOVE THROUGH ACTS DONE IN CONJUCNTION WITH THE SPIRIT, SEEING THAT THE SAME SPIRIT WHICH LEAD JESUS TO DO WORKS ALSO LEADS THE CHILDREN TO PERFOM WORKS WHICH WERE MEANT FOR THEM FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.

sorry for the caps, they got stuck when my finger would not let go of the shift key :)

Who here claims to fulfill the Law: I do. Because I love and by love we show that we have Him in us.

Though my love is not as perfect as God's, yet are we to be that undivided in our love (perfect) as our heavenly Father. I strive to love and God knows my heart. He along is my judge.

FULL context - Jesus conflict with the Pharisees and Scribes (testing Him concerning the Law - they are unbelievers):

Mark 12
The Great Commandment

28And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” 29Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” 32And the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher. You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. 33And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions.

BUT - it continues....what was keeping the scribe from the Kingdom he was not far from?

Whose Son Is the Christ?
35And as Jesus taught in the temple, he said, “How can the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David? 36David himself, in the Holy Spirit, declared,

“‘The Lord said to my Lord,
Sit at my right hand,
until I put your enemies under your feet.’

37David himself calls him Lord. So how is he his son?” And the great throng heard him gladly.

remember there are no breaks. the greek is a single run-on text.

here's the same account int Matthew:

Matthew 22
The Great Commandment
34But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. 36“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38This is the great and first commandment. 39And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

Whose Son Is the Christ?
41Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question, 42saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “The son of David.” 43He said to them, “How is it then that David, in the Spirit, calls him Lord, saying,

44 “‘The Lord said to my Lord,
Sit at my right hand,
until I put your enemies under your feet’?

45If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?” 46And no one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions.

.......(though the mosaic law was never given to Gentiles)

Why do you believe that God's laws were ONLY given to the nation of Israel? Didn't Abraham keep God's laws? Didn't he have knowledge of God's laws? He was not an Israelite!

Gen.26
[5] Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

And what about the "strangers", those of the mixed multitude of people that fled Egypt and also believed in the God of Israel? Did not they have to keep the same laws that were given to the nation of Israel?

God's laws were for ALL that believed in the true and living God.

And what about the example that God gives us concerning the great city of Nineveh? Let's read....

Jonah 1
[2] Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.

Jonah 3
[4] And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
[5] So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
[6] For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
[7] And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
[8] But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.
[9] Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
[10] And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

Jonah 4
[11] And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?

These were not Israelites that God wanted to turn from their evil ways and obey Him. Did they not stop sinning and start keeping God's laws?

God's laws were, and still are, for all that desire to worship the true and living God.

I believe you state your religion as Christian. I guess therefore you would agree with decisions made by the early church leaders in Jerusalem. Paul and Barnabas went to meet these leaders, many of whom had been Christ's disciples and at the meeting James(the head of the early church) and Peter were present. They went for clarification of one issue.
Which Jewish laws should the Gentiles be asked to keep/follow, the decision was:

To abstain from food polluted by idols
Fromn the meat of strangled animals
from blood
From sexual immorality

THAT WAS ALL

And most believe the first three were only mentioned to appease Jewish legalists.

BTW
In line with their teaching:
I abstain from meat polluted by idols
from blood
And am faithful to my wife

I have to admit, I am unsure as to whether I eat meat of an animal that was strangled, but ignorance is bliss, that ain't written on the packet when I buy the meat, so I can't be said to be deliberately disobeying what they decided on:)

of course not:)
truly, is that what you think i believe?

more precisely, and what the passages in question are about:

is Justification by Grace through faith in the Finished Work of the Promised Messiah optional?

claiming to love God and others, yet rejecting I Am mean nothing...does it?

muslims claim to love God.
jews claim it.

which was the whole point of that passage.

Jesus: you know the Law - obey it - ALL OF IT.

for what saith The Law?

Galatians 3
10For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” 11Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”d 12But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.”

and the point of the passage about the Two Great Commands?

13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— 14so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.

Do you honestly believe the above laws was ALL that Paul taught newly converted Gentile Christians to keep? Let's read.....

1 Cor.10
[7] Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
[14] Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

Paul taught not to be idolaters!

Rom.7
[7] What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Paul taught not to covet!

Rom.13
[9] For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Paul taught not to kill, steal, and lie!

The scriptures tells us that Paul taught a lot more than what you claimed above.

Readers....consider this....when you first was introduced to God's word were you given ALL that you needed to know about good and evil on your first visit to a church or bible study? Or did you GROW in God's word as you read and studied and was taught?

Now consider what Paul had to overcome during his day....Teaching people who had never heard of God's word. People who, for the most part, were worshipers of the god Diana. Now do you think it would have been wise on Paul's part to have them to conform to ALL of God's words right away? Or would it be better to ease them into what would soon be expected of them?

Let's read the following....

1 Cor.3
[2] I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

Heb.5
[12] For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

Paul was a very wise man. He knew that he could not give that meat of God's word without first giving the milk....the easy stuff first. When we read of the meeting of Paul and the early church leaders what we are reading is Paul giving milk....not meat.

Consider this.......

Acts.21
[25] As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

Above we find that Paul first advised NOT to eat meats offered to idols. Now let's read what he said later on in his ministry.....

1 Cor.10
[19] What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
[25] Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
[28] But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:

So what happened here.....did Paul CHANGE God's laws for the Gentiles? No! When Paul first started teaching the Gentiles he only addressed those things he thought deserved immediate attention. But after awhile...after being able to teach God's true word....after giving much milk of the word, Paul was able to now let them know that things offered to an idol was of no issue....for NOW they were aware that the god's they once worship were nothing at all. But did this knowledge come immediately? No! They had to grow in God's word.....Paul had to give these Diana worshiping Gentiles the milk of the word first.

Just as God gives His words to us....milk first, THEN meat!

Readers......do not be misled....Paul taught the Gentiles WAY MORE than to just abstain from, food polluted by idols, meat of strangled animals, the blood of meats and sexual immorality.

But you are aware of that because we just read it in the word of God!

.
Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God; 18 if you know his will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the law; 19 if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark, 20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of little children, because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— 21 You then who teach others, do you not teach yourself?. You who preach against stealing, do you steal?. You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery?(or covet let us add)? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who boast in the law, do you dishounour God by breaking the law? 24 As it is written: “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”[b]
25 Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised. 26 So then, if those who are not circumcised keep the law’s requirements, will they not be regarded as though they were circumcised? 27 The one who is not circumcised physically and yet obeys the law will condemn you who, even though you have the[c] written code and circumcision, are a lawbreaker.
28 A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29 No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart by the Spirit, not by the written code . Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.

Quoting scriptures with no explanation edifies no one!

You claimed the following;

Paul and Barnabas went to meet these leaders.......They went for clarification of one issue;

Which Jewish laws should the Gentiles be asked to keep/follow, the decision was:

To abstain from food polluted by idols
From the meat of strangled animals
From blood
From sexual immorality

THAT WAS ALL

And I proved through scriptures that the above was NOT the only laws that Paul taught Gentiles by presenting the following;

So.......what have ye to say concerning your claim verses God's word!

I also provided scriptures showing how Paul fed the milk of the word first and NOT the meat of God's word;

So again....what do you have to add concerning your claim that the ONLY laws that Paul taught newly converted Gentiles was to, just abstain from, food polluted by idols, meat of strangled animals, the blood of meats and sexual immorality.

That is the topic being discussed at this moment!

Quoting scriptures with no explanation edifies no one!

.

Scripture is understood by the Spirit who dwells within each and every Christian:

What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin. 10 As it is written:
“There is no one righteous, not even one;
11 there is no one who understands;
there is no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.”[b]
13 “Their throats are open graves;
their tongues practice deceit.”[c]
“The poison of vipers is on their lips.”[d]
14 “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”[e]
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 ruin and misery mark their ways,
17 and the way of peace they do not know.”[f]
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”[g]

19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
Righteousness Through Faith

21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in[h] Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,[i] through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. 28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

So again....what do you have to add concerning your claim that the ONLY laws that Paul taught newly converted Gentiles was to, just abstain from, food polluted by idols, meat of strangled animals, the blood of meats and sexual immorality.

.
Stop fibbing!
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour

This is what I wrote:

I believe you state your religion as Christian. I guess therefore you would agree with decisions made by the early church leaders in Jerusalem. Paul and Barnabas went to meet these leaders, many of whom had been Christ's disciples and at the meeting James(the head of the early church) and Peter were present. They went for clarification of one issue.
Which Jewish laws should the Gentiles be asked to keep/follow, the decision was:

To abstain from food polluted by idols
From the meat of strangled animals
from blood
From sexual immorality

THAT WAS ALL

And most believe the first three were only mentioned to appease Jewish legalists.

Plus

Scripture is understood by the Spirit who dwells within each and every Christian:

Again....making statements you have no understanding of. Do you even know how the Holy Spirit dwells within an individual?

Back to the topic.....

You claim that Paul ONLY gave Gentiles the following laws to keep,

"...to just abstain from, food polluted by idols, meat of strangled animals, the blood of meats and sexual immorality."

When God's words clearly tells us that Paul also taught Gentiles the following.....

Paul taught not to kill, steal, lie, covet and not to be idolaters.

Readers....YOU can read for yourselves that Paul taught more than what is claimed by Mark54.

And just as I'm sure it was with all of us.....we were first given the 'milk' of the word before the 'meat' of the word, which is what Paul did with these newly converted Gentiles.

For in the Gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last
Rom 1:17

But now a righteousness apart from law has been made known, to which the law and the prophets testify. This righteousness from, God comes by faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe
Rom 3:21&22

For if those who live by law are heirs, faith has no value, and the promise is worthless, because law brings wrath
Rom 4:14&15

Therefore, no one will be declared righteous in his site by observing the law, rather through the law we become conscious of sin
Rom3:20

For sin shall not be your master, for you are not under law but under grace
Rom 6:14

So my brothers, you also died to the law, through the body of Christ, so that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead.
Rom7:4

Christ is the end of the law, so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
Rom 10:4

For through the law, I died to the law so that I might live for God
Gal2:19

All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written. Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the book of the law
Gal 3:10

I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law Christ died for nothing.
Gal2:21

Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law
Gal3:25

Not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is by faith in Christ, the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith
Phil 3:9

Pretty conclusive don't you think?

Paul wrote all of the above, but you do not accept any of it, for you believe we have a righteousness of law keeping, as you have stated

And there is where you are wrong. I accept ALL of God's words!

The only difference is that I know that Paul speaks of TWO sets of laws throughout his writing. I know what laws Paul is speaking of when he refers to the deeds/works of the law! I know what laws were the schoolmaster! I know which laws were against us! I know the law that was added! I know the law that was changed! And I know which laws are yet in effect that must be kept!

I know ALL of these things....which is why I can accept ALL of God's words.....those you quoted and those you didn't!

I have answered this previously
However, as you believe, and will not be moved from the fact the Christian has a righteousness of law keeping before God, you will never see the truth, so sadly, any further explanation by me would be futile, hence the reason I have only quoted scripture
