When most think of the covenant in the bible they do not understand what is being said. God said He would make a new COVENANT with the people. He NEVER said that He would change the contents. A new AGREEMENT was made. The old agreement was made with the blood of bulls and goats. The new agreement was made with the blood of Christ. But what did He say would be the contents;
Heb.10
[16] "......I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Those SAME laws that were in the first agreement are the same in the new agreement.
The agreement/covenant was how that contents were ratified. But the contents of the agreement/covenant remained the same.
Just as iog said.....the old and the new covenants are one in the same. the only difference was how the 2 were ratified. Let's confirm this with scriptures...let's read some of God's laws BEFORE the new covenant was ratified....
Exod.20
[13] Thou shalt not kill.
[14] Thou shalt not commit adultery.
[15] Thou shalt not steal.
[16] Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
[17] Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
Lev.19
[15] Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.
Lev.19
[18] Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.
Deut.6
[5] And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Now let's read what is still in effect with the new covenant....
Rom.13
[9] For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
1 Cor.10
[8] Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
1 Thes.4
[3] For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
James 2
[9] But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
Same laws in BOTH COVENANTS!
