So i've been having a huge dilema for years on wether or not to wear makeup (boys keep reading, I promise I have a point to all this!). Though I do have to wear it for my job as an esthetician. I love makeup in the fact that it can be fun, you get to play around with it. But what I don't like is the idea it was created for. Makeups whole purpose is to change a womens look, make them "more attractive" to men. Why can't we just love our face for what it is? God gave us our face, not so we can change it. I also hate how many compliments I get when I do my makeup. It makes me feel like i'm only pretty if I do up my face, or the guy I like will only notice me if my makeups done. Florecent lights don't help either! They make every one look like they are sick! Guys don't have to wear makeup everyday, they are considered attractive naturally. So why can't girls be perceived the same way? Anyway the point to this long post is I wanted to find out what christian guys have to say on the subject. Do you think women should wear makeup? Should it just be for special occasions, or not at all? Or should women wear makeup because it makes them more attractive? Give us girls some insight!

For me regarding girls with make up, less is more. I don't think there is anything wrong with using it to enhance natural features. I definitely wouldn't want to be with a women who wore too much because I wouldn't want to end up marrying her and then wake up one morning only to realize I married a troll. Guys have other things they do to enhance their appearance for the opposite sex, though they may be more subtle. A more extreme case is working out and pumping iron, or a more natural case would be dressing up and styling hair when they go to a singles night or something.

It's all good if you don't think you need make up. I've woken up many a morning to my wall mirror thinking of how I want to look today when I realize "You're incredible Michael! Why just look at those perfectly chiseled abs! And those cheekbones! Oh my, so well placed and defined! You should be a sculpture." Some of us just have it together better than most, don't look down on them for it though :)

Honestly, I think a little makeup might be good, but so many women these days seem to overdo it. It takes them a good hour to put it all on and they end up looking all artificial. It honestly doesn't matter to me either way, largely.

As I'd say with many other things, in moderation. You don't need to do it to the extent that it's the only thing that makes you think you look pretty. That's outrageous. It doesn't need to be something that becomes a daily ritual that consumes tons of time. Even I struggle with accepting the body that God gave me to use while on this earth, as I often think that I'm ugly. I just have to realize that this is the body that was given to me and I have to do the best I can with it. It's the body that I'll have on New Earth too, I believe, but a perfected form. I'm guessing it'd probably fuller and no so skinny and the best bit of all - no pain!

I kinda got sidetracked there, but I hope that answers your question from my perspective.

Look up makeup in an encyclopedia, and it is for the stage, when you play a role. I liked it when my wife played a role for me. What role do you play in public?

I just looooove m-up. :D

Ok, I must admit I don't like to wear m-up every day. It gives me feeling that I'm wearing a mask. And I always have to remember that I can't touch my eyes, lips-cause I might ruin my m-up.

But I do wear it sometimes-whn I have a reason to look beautiful. :)

make up is fine. Sure some people overdo it and look like clowns but most the time I have no problem with makeup. And some girls are just as cute with it as without

me without makeup??? SCARY! But I only use a little, not a bunch!

"It doesn't matter to me" was my response because of the severity of a "should." In truth, I find women more attractive when they don't wear makeup. So, if the question is 'would I want my girlfriend to wear makeup', I'd have to go with only on special occasions. Would I love her anyways? Find her attractive still? Absolutely. If it helps her feel more confident, don't we both benefit from it? ;) That said, if she doesn't know that I find her gorgeous without it, I'd feel like I was doing something wrong.

I feel like it's a girls decision. What makes her feel good is important. I wear makeup because I feel good wearing it. But in that same aspect, I can go without makeup and be fine. That is not including eye makeup; I will not leave the house without eye makeup but everything else I can take or leave it.

It's funny, I don't think I would notice if a lady didn't have makeup on. I might think something is a little off if I see her every day though. But could I point out the reason why? No.

My friend told me, "Guys say they like girls with no makeup on, but what they really mean is that they like naturally pretty girls without makeup on."

A bit of a jaded view I suppose but any thoughts on that from the guys?

I don't wear much makeup. Just eye-makeup (sometimes just mascara). I guess it "enhances" my eyes but it doesn't change how I look.

I also try to live by this quote:

"If the only beauty you have can be washed off [makeup], you're pursuing the wrong kind of beauty." I don't think makeup is wrong (though some girls go way overboard) but our confidence and beauty shouldn't be solely coming from it.

Jaded? Yes.

True? Yes.

On the basis of scripture, I am inclined to say no.

1 Peter 3:3
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.

I know you posted this question for men but I also seen a woman reply also so I hope this is ok ..
lets not forget what true beauty is - yes I were makeup but just enough to enhance .. but lets not forget this -A Virtuous Woman is a woman of worth and beauty. She has the inner beauty that only comes from Christ. She uses her creativity and sense of style to create beauty in her life and the lives of her loved ones. (Proverbs 31: 10)

Maybe a little makeup to enhance natural features but caking it on is silly and makes the girl look more like an Egyptian mummy, than a girl. Scary. So keep it subtle if you do use it (unless it's for theatrics or your alternative fashion style - then go for it).

opps I meant to say this ma bad -Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. prov 31:30 sorry
