Hey everyone,

What's the sweetest, most romantic thing you ever did for someone? Or, if you haven't had the chance, what's the sweetest thing you'd like to do if you had the chance? (Pretend there are no limits and go for it--serious or silly.)

I was married the first year the original PlayStation came out (cough, cough, maybe I'm sounding old again) and I had told the hubby, "Don't even think about it, we can't afford it right now." And he was understandably disappointed but at least agreeable.

So, I was out window shopping one day... and I saw that our local electronics store in the mall had just gotten their first shipment of PS's in... I kind of stood there staring into the store, finally smiled to myself, and thought, oh, what the heck. I'd saved up a little money for odds and ends... so I went in, took a deep breath, and plunked over my savings for a PlayStation...

I got home before him that day so I was able to hide it pretty well, but I'm not someone who hides much of anything very well for any amount of time. He was home for about an hour and I was like, "Honey... will you be if I give you your Christmas present early?" and he said all right... I was practically hopping up and down because I couldn't contain my excitement. So I told him not to look (in case I needed to hide future presents in the same spot) and when I brought it out (didn't have time to wrap it but it was in a plain, unmarked bag) and he pulled it out... and the look on his face was just classic. I think his jaw literally fell to the floor.

It must have come with at least one game or something because I remember he started using it right away... so for Christmas Day I got him a game he'd wanted so he'd have something to open that was still a surprise.

I love shopping for a guy... hope to be able to have moments like that again in the future.

How about all of you? And of course, it doesn't have to involve a lot of money! I've done other things that didn't cost much, but this was just something that sticks out in my memory.

I try and refrain from those kinds of gestures.

I do understand that, Sam. Especially when the person leaves and you've had your heart broken repeatedly...

But I guess... yeah, there are lots of bad memories obviously but now when I look back, I'm glad I tried my best to create some good ones. You know how Jesus said it's more blessed to give than to receive? It doesn't make sense at the time... but life is often so full of bad things... that I guess now I'm just glad that once in a while God enabled me to do something that was hopefully good, even if only for a little while.

And I hope to do things like that and more someday in the future when I meet the right person.

One cute idea: When your significant other is going to go away for a couple of days, tell them that you are worried about them and have set up a bodyguard to take care of them. Then hand them a small stuffed animal like a teddy bear.

The most romantic thing I have ever done for someone was with my last ex, it's a toss up between two things.

The first one is on her birthday. I showed up to her house and I gave her a present, a digital picture frame. Now after that we went out to eat at her favorite place. We were going out to the car and I pretended like I hit the trunk button on my car alarm remote. So I go out to 'close' the trunk, but I had another present hidden in there. It was a digital camera. (I knew she really wanted one.) I had already used it to take some pictures and then I put it back in the box and wrapped it. So anyways she was very excited, and I took her back to her house where we watched a movie for a little while. Then when I was getting ready to leave I told her to close her eyes, and I had a necklace that was a shape of a heart and had her birthstones in it. I put it on her and told her to open her eyes. She had this huge smile and she looked so happy, even now that we are not together I still smile just thinking of how happy she was.

The other time was kind of random. I had gotten her a rose that had been dipped in gold, but I didn't know when to give it to her. So one day she asked me how long I would love her for, and I just left her house and went and bought 11 roses and went to my house and got the gold rose. I put it in with the others and went back to her house. The whole time she is freaking out because I just left without saying anything, so I show back up at her house. I give her all the roses and I say 'Until every rose dies.'

I think I did pretty good on those 2 occasions, too bad it didn't work out eh?

Well, let's see...

One year I got to surprise my boyfriend. He lived in Forth Worth and my parents were going down to Ft. Worth the day after Thanksgiving to spend the night with friends and catch a flight to Mexico the next day. I arranged with another friend to bring me back home at the end of the weekend. I called my boyfriend's mom and planned it all out with her and he didn't know a thing about it. So then when his parents told him that they were all going to dinner with friends, he was kinda grumpy. But when the "friends" turned out to be me and my parents walking through the door, his whole face lit up. It was so much fun!

I like to make stuff for the guys I date - one of my boyfriends took us skydiving for my birthday, so I made him a scrapbook with the skydiving pictures. He was also a huge UT fan, so I made a little thing with a Longhorn and "Hook 'em" on it to hang from his rearview mirror. For Easter, I put together an Easter basket with candy and a couple of other little gifts in it. (the other side of this story is that he tossed the basket in the trunk of his car and for all I know it's all still in there because he never did anything with it)

I tend to be perpetually broke so I can't really ever do anything expensive, so I usually just make stuff. Or cook stuff. I was cooking pancakes for my last boyfriend and made one in the shape of a heart and then buried it in the stack so he'd be surprised by it...

I wrote a song for one of my boyfriends... I've written poems for a couple...

I'm sappy and lame...

Lets see....toss up between two things.

It was the night or couple days after we had a huge fight. So I decided to make it up to her. So I bought her a bunch of white chocolate (because she likes white chocolate) put them in this really nice box from hallmark, with a sing song card that sang "your still the one" and a dozen roses and then took it to her work and had someone take it to her.

Then the other one, was I tattooed this girls name on my chest....yes I still have it tattooed....oh man life is full of funny things

Ok.. one year, around valentine's day, my ex gave me a HUGE box of hugs and kisses. As i unwrapped them there were little notes of why and how much he loved me wrapped up in the foil of every. single. one *sigh* it was soooooo sweet :) and then shortly after, he gave me a HUGE rock in the form of a ring ;) but that didn't work out, so i think the chocolates were better lol... I know this is supposed to be about sweet stuff that i've done, but i can't think of anything at the moment... i'll get back to you about that :D

There have really been some great ideas here... keep them coming... even if they're things you hope to do and haven't had the chance to do yet, go ahead and share with us.

Ariannaaaa (hope I spelled it right :)) beat me to the punch... something I hope to do someday for the right guy if he's into sports is to buy him season tickets for his favorite team's home games (I would get two, one for him, and one for his best friend if he doesn't want to take me, because while I like watching some sports, I really know nothing about them, and maybe he'd want to take someone a bit more "seasoned" than me.)

And if he's not into sports, I'd find something else.

I once dated a guy who really needed some new clothes (HE said so, not me--I wasn't trying to hint at him or anything! Honest!) and so I went on a total spree one day--socks, khakis, t-shirts, dress shirts, shorts, belts... I had everything arranged according to type of clothing in neat piles around the room and had him come over and peek through the door... I'll never forget the huge gasp and shocked look he had on his face (unfortunately, I'm better at shopping for guys than for myself so I'll be asking all you other girls out there for fashion advice for myself.)

Keep the ideas coming... I've actually taken some mental notes and will have even more ideas for when God sends the right guy my way (hopefully no one will sue me for "borrowing" their ideas!) :)
