Hey Everybody,

This is a thread dedicated to Kakashi. I was talking to him a few days ago and tried to give him what I thought were a few compliments... (fortunately for me, he was a great sport and so far, has not called the police on me, as far as I know. However, a mysterious van did follow me home from work... I think... )

Seeing as I'm a few years older than him (14, to be exact), it made me think about the borders between trying to say something encouraging to someone (but always being sincere--I won't give a compliment if I don't mean it from the heart), flirting, and becoming downright creepy. (I told Kakashi I might be getting old but I can flirt with the best of them! Well, that is, when my dementia isn't acting up... :) ).

The reason I ask is because I work with a 70-year-old guy who would give me "compliments" all the time... until one day when he said, "Kim, if I wasn't married... I just think you're the sweetest thing here."

UGH!! MAJOR LINE BEING CROSSED!!! UNSPEAKABLY CREEPY!!

So, what do you all think?

I don't want to have to hold back on praise and positive feedback just because of age differences (I believe people of all ages need encouragement), but what guidelines do you think a person should follow?

The old "If I wasn't married" line is creepy. I know if my husband was saying that to a woman I'd be pretty unhappy.

I totally agree with you as well that we should honestly compliment each other and give positive feedback.

Well, Kakashi thought it was creepy when I proposed to him for being tall and left-handed so I apparently don't know where the line is either....lol

Oh, I thought of another one! When I was in high school, I worked at Burger King (shut up, it was a good job) and I was cleaning the dining area. There was a table of old-ish men watching me sweep and mop and one of them turned to me when I got close to the table and said "You're going to make someone a hell of a wife someday!"

*shudder* blecht!

Maybe that should be the thread topic: Where's the line between "creepy" and "proactive"?

Okay people im gonna tell you a story (true story mind you) of something creepy, creepy and just when you think it could get any creepier... IT DOES!
Sooo one day i went to this resturant its called Calz its like pizza subs stuff like that... well aaaanyways this girl, takes my order and we really didnt talk at all she just took my order and then brought me my food. So a couple days later, i ordered some food at work from Calz, and had it delivered to my job. Well this same girl shows up... (who looks like a guy actually) so anyways again.. no talking just took the food paid her and away she went... So about two days after that i go to my car and theres this note from her on my car asking me out... and givin me her number... well i didnt call and i just threw the note away... (how she knew which car was mine i dont know) well two days after that im drivin home from work and shes following me in her car, i pull up to my house and so does she and starts again asking me to go to this concert with her... again .... i said no thanks but i appreciate the offer. So severel days after that she AGAIN shows up to my house with a bag full of candy and these weird stickers... she said she just wanted to give me a present lol so i took and said ummm okay thanks?? then she left.... She continuted to follow me around in her car almost everywhere i would go! I would go to wal-mart or to rent a movie and SURPRISE there she was to!! Finally i had to go to her job after she continuted leaving ribbons and presents on my car and letters that were like five and six pages long!!! and tell them... THIS WOMAN WONT LEAVE ME AAAALONE!!! So they told her right in front of me.. if she continued to follow me or leave me anything else they would fire her....... that pretty much seemed to do the trick

Wow, Sam... you should sell that story to a Hollywood director to make into a horror movie. That's scary!
