Friends and family are on me from time to time because I work too much and forget to eat as well as I should, but I'm getting better about it. :) One thing that HAS always puzzled me is that for some reason everyone knows it's impolite to make fun of people who are overweight, but it often seems socially acceptable to insult those who run thin.

Yeah, my older bro and I resemble a 'before and after' picture. They won't say a word about me being 'fluffy', yet they constantly yak at him about being so thin...

Trypanophobia is a fear of needles. If you have trypanophobia, you may dread receiving medical care, particularly injections. When you are required to undergo a medical procedure, you are likely to experience high blood pressure and an elevated heart rate in the hours and days leading up to your procedure. However, at the time of the event, your blood pressure may rapidly drop. You may even faint...
Or, perhaps you're a big guy who resembles a bear or gorilla...when faced with an injection, you might actually jump up off of the table and threaten to strangle the nurse/doctor/torturer with his/her own stethoscope.

It's true! We do get to choose the gauge of needle we want to use! hahahaha!

Needles aren't so bad. It's the person stabbing you with them that matter.

This is why I'm always nice and polite to the guy about to jab a needle in my arm.

Nuke, Aimee and Estrella: A lot of states don't require a blood test when you marry now, but when I married at 18, they did. I hated needles so much that I didn't show up for my blood test the first time. My fiancé came and GOT me and DROVE me there. haha It's no big deal now though. :)

Yes! Help me yell at him! He'll have post more just to shut us up!! Well, that, or we could get together and do some cookie-baking.....he DID say that would work......

NiceguyJ: What kind of cookies do you want, and just how do you define "lots and lots"? Can we pre-negotiate a number of cookies per additional post?

Chrissy: Name 4 things you want to do before you turn 40, and cost is no object, because Zaoman's paying for it.

Zaoman: Have you always been this generous? And how long have you had feelings for S4T?

S4T: Do you really think it's right for you to string Zaoman along like that? Give the poor guy a straight-up yes or no, none of this "someday" stuff!

Hellooo: I always enjoy reading your posts, they always come across as very rational, yet without taking spirituality out of the equation. Have you always been that way? And, is it a conscious decision for you to balance reason with spirituality, or does it just come naturally? Sorry if that's too personal, I'm just intrigued by the neat way you see things. :)

WWJDkilden: I've seen you a lot in other areas of the site, giving encouragement and good advice :). Do you have any plans to go into ministry, or are you already? And, if not, what is your dream job?

Tintin: Welcome to the site! :) You seem to have jumped in with both feet, mixing it up in bible-discussion and all :D. Do you always find it easy to adapt to new situations quickly?

I just noticed today that I had a question directed at me, snackersmom. :)

The short answer - I think it's just a combination of my natural personality and how I grew up.

I do try to be conscious about explaining things to people how I'd want them explained to me.
I'm not particularly eloquent or one to philosophize much, especially for the sake of just philosophizing. I'm not well-read on books about Christianity, spirituality, nor philosophy, to be frank, other than the bible, and a lot of times there was too much of a language gap between my parents and I to go into real deep discussions on some things when I was growing up. We went to a non-English speaking church to boot, so they just explained things pretty rationally to me the best they could when I had questions, or just pointed me in the right direction
I always appreciate real, practical advice and insight, and hearing personal testimonies, over things that just sound like the right Christian thing to say, so I just try to speak plainly.

In high school I was a TP guru. Many a home fell victim to my artistic expressions with large quantities of toilet paper.
Pics or it didn't happen. :p

Snackersmom - What's your favorite snack? :D
Favorite snack...hmmm. This time of year, cookies and chocolate are tops, but in the summertime my allegiances sway to the ice-cream camp. I eat really erratically in the spring and summer, so if I'm snacking due to skipped meals I try to make healthier choices like fruit and nuts. Which is how I manage to stay the same size as Julianna.....And, yup, people often refer to me as "tall" also.......... It MUST be an optical illusion.

No problem on the late reply, I figured you hadn't seen it :). I think your approach is very refreshing! It's nice to have you here. :)

JimJimmers: You recently related a story wherein your sister forced you to carry 48 rolls of toilet paper through a crowded grocery store, while fellow shoppers stared and speculated. Have you completed therapy yet, and what other socially devastating situations has your sister put you through?

Just saw this today, so Bump it is!

LOL! I have completed therapy, so it's mostly good until I see the Charmin bears on TV, in which case I break into a cold sweat and start babbling incoherently.

As far as other awful scenarios that the ever-suffering Jim Jimmers has been put through...hmmm...

Back in the day, Jim was fairly tall for his age, so he was often mistaken for being a little older than he was. He never really talked in the third person much. That is a new phenomenon, most likely attributed to mental degradation after the TP incident. Anyway, Jim once met a nice young lady who was 2 years older than he was, and they hit it off pretty well. Soon after laying eyes on her, it was discovered that this girl had A PONCHO VILLA MARIONETTE in the trunk of her car. Jim could scarcely contain his excitement, as that's one special gal right there.

Jim was thinking the two years wouldn't matter much, and figured it was something best mentioned on the second date, or possibly when she saw the DOB on the marriage license. So imagine his surprise when, only 2 hours into this ever-blossoming relationship, his sister just decides to 'drop a little inside info' on Jim's new fiancee by announcing how old he was.

Jim doesn't feel too bad about it, it was no doubt much worse for the girl. She's probably still broken up about it, seeing her prince walk off into the sunset, in the rain. (It wasn't raining, but it really should have been. It is widely speculated there was some sort of Heavenly oversight involved in the lack of rain, as The Lord had just missed a great opportunity to render Jim's sister speechless, with a tiny fraction of His infinite power.)

Jim totally realizes now he should have used Vietnamese age reckoning to declare his age, when he saw his sister coming. But it wasn't something he thought of at the time.

As a side note, Jim is considering any and all offers to turn his tragic tale of woe into a motion picture.
