Who reproves us, Stephenbelievin?

God or Joel ?

Who corrects us? God or Joel. 1

And, it's His Spirit who comforts us through the correftion.

So many like to think God is a'background' guy from verses like 'there is one mediatior between God and man, who is Jesus Christ.'

This is true, Jesus is the propitiation for ALL mankind's sins, the seperator, if you will, but His Father is God and, no, I am not preaching sepertism of God and Jesus different entities. No. They are One . They are Deity , Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
We use all three's work to understand all's work, so He can be all and all.

But, why, just because Joel does not preach fire and brimstone but instead preaches the love of Christ make Joel a 'heretic,' it is not a false gospel taught, it is the 'gospel' taught, the gospel of Christ.

God WILL convict those sitting in Joel's church, and, Joel knows that, he does not deny that, does He? 2

He denies bringing a gospel that is negative, but , the very ACT of coming to Jesus is negative for so many. Again, the message of Christ, dropping everything and folowing Him is hard for us all and I've read your testimony Stephen and why you became compliant to His leading. Awesome stuff !!! :)

But, everyone is diferent and Joel is being shrewd as a serpent yet gentle as a dove, and, Joel doesn't always get it right, he could be bolder in his teaching, which Joel does not say, but, who ya kidding, teaching is preaching, it's prophesying--exhorting others to.follow Him, edifying others, giving revelation even to others as He leads, per 1 Cor. 14 . 3

This is Joel's call, it's a call of His , from God the Father, God the Son and, God, the Holy Spirit . Just unique to Him?
In some sense, yrs, unique, as Joel's work is no better than anyone else's and Joel is humble as 'they' come, but, yes, teaching the positive message of the gospel of Christ every week is quite a calling to do to 16,000 listening ears, not to mention worldwide, not to mention bookwriting callings. 4

I pray God uses me every day how He wants and that I reward others just like Joel. I error , I know, in my trying but I try and my 'thorns' in my flesh are His to humble me and I know beyond a doubt as I follow Him in me leading I have sufficient grace for all the things I do that require His mercy given, which, good news, is draped in love and His mercy for ME is "new every morning."
I am fallen, wretched , sinful man, but I am flesh that is crucified with Christ.

So, is Joel ? :) 5

Note to ohzone: The Lord leads. You follow Him; if you feel rightness (with Him) to support a thread saying joel is a false teacher, then, that is, obviously between you and God, ...'you follow Me.' John 21:22 :)
1. God does much of this work through his prophets, preachers, and teachers. If you read Paul's work you would know that.
2.
Romans 10:14-15 [SUP]14 [/SUP]How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? [SUP]15 [/SUP]And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
How can they be convicted of sin sitting in his church if he's not preaching on sin? How can they hear without a real preacher? Was he sent? I don't know. All I know is, he is not living nor preaching like he has been sent. Every real preacher agrees with the Book. He knows more about the Power of Positive Thinking than he does the Gospel. For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.
3. Anybody can edify. Christians, however, must be edified by the Word of God. Edifying people by telling them to think good things about themselves is not Christian edification. That's the only kind that's accepted by God.
4. I would never judge Joel's " speaking" as a call. If I did, I would have to wonder who called him.
5. Is he crucified with Christ? How could someone who preaches "ear tickling sermons" have a heart that is crucified with Christ? It seems like if he did, somewhere along the way, he would have to preach, "Repent, and believe the Gospel".

I don't know why the misinterpretation of my understanding of your first point numbered, of course, Paul taught through prophets, teachers, preachers, but, then, again, I do understand your misunderstanding me, because abidingsquirrel houses his comments in that mode, too; the Lord leads, I will follow Him, stephenbelievin and I know what
I say is seasoned with His mercy and grace, and, love. He abiding in Me does 'that,' you know :)

----------------------
Romans , 10:13, the verse before those two listed in your second point, explain, 'Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'

Joel mentions Christ in his sermons , therefore, Christ is Lord, therefore, Joel is, indeed, convicting those, and, in a 'great' edifying fashion, to boot :)
____________________
Regarding point number four, good, don't judge. Wise we don't ever do that, or, in the measure we judge God will measure it back to us. Not good, not good , not good :( Judge not and be not judged . Good, good, good.... :)

----------------------
Why are your ears, tickled by Joel preaching in the resurrecting power of The Christ ? Are you and I (and many others denying Joel's work of Him, and, thinking Joel is new age worshipper) on the same page, I sometimes wonder, of Christ, not judging either. But, that is what Scripture states, we who are in Christ are new creations. Joel is in Christ, he, in fact, is continuing his father's ministry, as the Lord has boldly called Joel to go where many dare not trod for fear of rejection, denial, of others. Remember, there is only One person we are not to deny or we too will be denied. Sounds a lot like the 'judging' of Matthew 7:1, doesn't it, believingstephen ?

Since this isn't the first time I've talked to you about these things, it means I'm past the 2 required. Therefore, I'm done with talking to you about this. By the way, I think people would appreciate it if you call them by their member name. I know I would.

LARRY KING: Because we've had ministers on who said, your record don't count. You either believe in Christ or you don't. If you believe in Christ, you are, you are going to heaven. And if you don't no matter what you've done in your life, you ain't.

OSTEEN: Yeah, I don't know. There's probably a balance between. I believe you have to know Christ. But I think that if you know Christ, if you're a believer in God, you're going to have some good works. I think it's a cop-out to say I'm a Christian but I don't ever do anything ...

KING: What if you're Jewish or Muslim, you don't accept Christ at all?

OSTEEN: You know, I'm very careful about saying who would and wouldn't go to heaven. I don't know ...

KING: If you believe you have to believe in Christ? They're wrong, aren't they?

OSTEEN: Well, I don't know if I believe they're wrong. I believe here's what the Bible teaches and from the Christian faith this is what I believe. But I just think that only God with judge a person's heart. I spent a lot of time in India with my father. I don't know all about their religion. But I know they love God. And I don't know. I've seen their sincerity. So I don't know. I know for me, and what the Bible teaches, I want to have a relationship with Jesus.

Lol... that was a good one that had me laughing especially at the WHOA. I haven't been to heaven so cannot comment whether or not there is, in fact, wine there but my opinion is that versus like Jesus's statement in Mark 15:25 are figurative and mystical by which He means the joys of heaven.

That aside, she's done some outstanding interviews with people that became Christians through extreme circumstances. Here's a good one with Micky Robinson from Calvary Chapel:

If anyone could find a clip of the talking dachshund from the old Current Affair the 80 year old woman owned that would fantastic as it's not on YouTube. This dog wasn't like all of the rest of the supposed talking dogs that just howl weird. This dog could really talk like a parrot can!

I'll never forget the dog coming into the studio, looking up at the host, and saying just as any one of us without an accent of any kind, "I'm hungry."

ROFL!!!

Ok, good, I just sensed a little irritation in your posts and wanted to mend things if things were wrong between us.

Must be the painkillers fogging my old brain! C'mon foot, heal up!

I don't think Joel Olsteen preaches on these things which is the reality of the Christian life. (I could be wrong but I don't think so)
