Is infant baptism biblical?

No I said the one I WENT through was..... If you read the MANUSCRIPT they developed in the old Holland city Heidelburg, that prescribes to the minister what he should say when baptizing a child... then you would understand.

Zone Jesus did not stop the disciples to baptize with water, and the apostles did not stop Philip, AN I WILL STOP NO ONE EITHER. There is NOTHING EVIL about a water baptism, IF YOU STICK IN THE WORD OF GOD! But if you do it with a HEIDELBURG BAPTISM FORMULA, then I have a HUGE problem if it is not ALIKE the Bible...

The Dutch Reform Church, is a DUTCH institution with MANY unbiblical practises... Let me share just one... They use the Heidelburg Catacasm dictrine for the teaching in their Sunday School.... In the early phaze of teaching children they make a statement.... God sometimes says Yes, somethimes say NO and some times says wait. (to his children) Then I asked them to please give me a verse that will confirm this, and they could not.

I said I can recall God saying this to His Children.....
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
And that was the end of my children's "sunday school" Oh this is just one SMALL discrepancy with the Word of God, you should hear the ritual to CONFESSION... I believe, I believe...

Again you misunderstand me, man I wish i could be better at expressing myself... I have NOTHING against a water-baptism, NOTHING, if it is done biblical... But we all know it is not a necessaty for salvation. Cornelius received the Holy Spirit baptism without water...

Anyway Zone there is a WATER that is more than water we talk about... Jesus said we should be born of Spirit and Water... And that LIVING WATERS will flow from our bowels... Is this not the WATER BY THE WORD we should Baptize in... It is WATER, it is just not H2O water...

So I believe in a WATER BAPTISM, but it is NOT H2O, it is LIVING WATERS.. The Word of God, the Spirit of God...The Truth, Jesus! Baptize with JESUS!

Sarah, did God also say NO to you? When God said to Paul... NO! Did God say no or YES? What was God's ANSWER to Paul? And I ask you again did God SAY no to you? Please share with me... and I will SHOW you God said YES to Paul not NO!

No matter how you want to slice it,dice it,and out in a blender,God's answer to what Paul was asking for was NO. Jesus asked for the cup to be removed,the Father did NOT remove it,Jesus submitted His will to the Father but the Father's answer to having the cup taken away was NO. David pleaded with God not to take his son's life from his adultery with Bathsheba and the answer was NO.

Moses prayer to God so that he could enter the promised land

Sarah, why do you not answer my question.... Did God ever SAY no to you? And please just give one example so that I can show you the error of your thinking....

if God already said that Moses would not enter the promisd land is it not a sin to ask God to change His mind? Can God change His mind? Like it says in Genesis.... God repented... Man imagine God repenting...
And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
Do you think God can THINK EVIL? Does God have to REPENT?

So you see there is a lot more to the Word of God, without ADDING OR TAKING AWAY...... And God's PROPHET told David that the LORD said the child would die... And why NOT, It is God's desicion.... What man can COUNCIL God? The only reason God said "NO" to Paul

Let us JUST STICK to Paul and God's no to Paul. If God said through a prophet or by Himself.... This is what I will do, and He does not do it then it would make God a lier, and God said many things to many people. No is an answer to MEN, not to HOLY MEN! They only get YES, except if they go outside God's will, but then they are not HOLY any longer anyway.

So please answer my question.... DID GOD EVER SAY NO TO YOU? Please give a short detail of the NO if HE DID, and I will share Paul's NO with you. It is beautiful. You will enjoy it....

Psycomom, this is the AMAZING thing, God's children does not WANT anything from Him, just maybe to come soon....God says that about the ones He baptized... his children ... WANTING NOTHING.... Why ask if they GOT ALL they wanted.... And they are not greedy to ask more than that...

what about baptism in one Name?
you don't believe in water baptism, so what's your issue?

you said He always will....they're saying He sometimes doesn't.

my question to you is - are you going to get anything from Him if you do not obey The Gospel?

I can't believe this guy saying that baptism in the holy Spirit has ceased! Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit - basically, this is baptism in the holy Spirit. (being filled with the Spirit - new birth - new creation, new man) Water does not change the inside, only cleanses the outside of a person, but the Spirit does.
Thus, of the two, water or Holy Spirit baptism, which has fulfilled its purpose, its mission? Is the word of God incomplete? Do men today need to receive more truth? No, for we have "all truth," "the perfect law of liberty," "all things that pertain unto life and godliness," "the faith once (one time for all time) delivered" (Jn. 16:13; Jas. 1:25; 2 Pet. 1:3; Jude 3). The Scriptures are able to furnish the man of God completely unto every good work (2 Tim. 3:16, 17). Hence, we do not need to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit as the apostles received it. The purpose has been fulfilled. We have all truth, the whole and complete truth of God.

Again. . . .amazing. . .To have all truth we need to be led by the Spirit of truth. . .the Comforter, i.e. the holy Spirit.
When the purpose of the baptism of Moses was met, it ended, never to be repeated again. When John's baptism met its goal, it was no longer valid. Likewise, since the purposes of Holy Spirit baptism have been fulfilled, it is no longer being employed. Jesus is not baptizing people in the Holy Spirit as he once did.

What of water baptism? Does it continue? If so, why? Well, water baptism in the name of Christ is "for the remission of sins" (Acts 2:38). Men must be baptized in order to be saved (Mk. 16:16). Do men today need the forgiveness of sins? Do men today still need to be saved? If so, then water baptism continues. It will exist as long as there are men who need to be forgiven of their sins and saved. So, since there is "one baptism," which one is left? Which one, of all the baptisms previously cited, which one has a purpose that is still necessary? Which baptism is needed with respect to its purpose as stated in Scripture? Why, water baptism, of course.

Now, if ever there comes a time when everyone is saved, if there were ever a time when there were no lost sinners, if every man were forgiven, would water baptism continue? No, for its purpose would no longer be necessary. That is why the other baptisms ceased. So, water baptism would end and would no longer be practiced if everyone were saved. Obviously, that has not happened, and water baptism continues. It is, therefore, the "one baptism" of Ephesians 4:5.

Mark 16:16 is questionable because Mark 16:9-20, by some scholars, were added at a later date and even questionable if Mark even wrote them.

Baptism of the holy spirit - the gift from God - is often referred to as being poured out, filled with - living water.

John 4:10,13,14 . . . If thou knewest the gift of God and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. . .Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 7:37-39 . . . .If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (but this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the holy spirit was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

I do reiterate - I see nothing wrong with water baptism for a public confession of faith in Jesus Christ - not for salvation.

And the true dividing line among those who seek to learn truth, is according to those who rely on the Spirit to learn and those who do not

who were those who received the Power from on High at Pentecost?

Acts 1:5
For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." < who was Jesus speaking to?

then what is Peter saying AFTER that?

Acts 2:38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
