Yes they call that the "holy huddle." Despite all their talk about "spreading the Gospel," some churches exist primarily to shepherd their own children. They aren't big on new people, unless they are well adjusted and have money to put in the plate. Cultural Marxism and the "holy huddle" are the two biggest reasons for the drop off of Christianity in the West since the 1960's.

There is a friend in Jesus, He is the best company you can have and share with. Find him now hes waiting and longing for your company more than anyone

I guess I wasn't really active in church activities in my college years. I was really busy with school stuff. I know it's not an excuse and we ought to have time with God no matter how preoccupied we are. I really miss attending prayer meeting, bible studies and choir practice back home.

hehehe. I survived going to church all alone again last Sunday. Well, I wasn't technically alone because my churchmate from my other church was seated next to me. LOL. I was seated in the middle portion and most of the seats weren't occupied. I was happily content sitting there all alone but then I was quite shocked to see my churchmate back home occupying the seat next to me. LOL. I wasn't expecting him to be there. Well, Im already aware that he also goes to church there but the last time I know was that he was in Japan. It was really nerve-wrecking to be seated next to him but I pretended to be calm and everything was doing okay. It's not that I'm conceited or anything but I think he might have untoward feelings for me. @_@ I can sense that he was really nervous the whole time so to get rid of the awkwardness I tried to make the first move by talking to him about some random stuffs. LOL! I really wanted to stay long at church and establish rapport with the congregation but I was in a hurry to buy some medications for my granny. And the weirdest thing happened that afternoon,he sent me a message on facebook saying that he was really sorry because he wasn't able to entertain me and he glad to see me again and left his number just in case I want to hang out. Of course, I sent a reply out of respect. Do you think I'm to harsh? Or he might have this silly notion that I might like him? O.o

No, I don't think you were too harsh Dliz. How did he know you were going to be at that church if he was from your other church and how did he spot you there?

I just don't want him to give the wrong idea so I usually don't reply to his messages but sometimes I feel like i'm obliged to reply. lol. @_@ I think some members of our church recommended it to him. Uhmm. Actually before I start attending that church, I use to go to the church where my mother used to attend during her college years.Me and my sister decided to go to church there because it is just a walking distance from our home. :)

Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

You are not alone. And if you feel alone within a church, that would be a concern to me.

For me personally I'm content going to Church by myself as the way I look at it is - I'm never alone I always have Jesus and the Holy Spirit with me (they are both the best to sit with by the way lol) I am there to worship God and hopefully be challenged and inspired by the sermon in my walk with Christ, and if I have fellowship with other believers as well thats a bonus.;)

The times over the last year or so that I had to arrive at church Alone were crushing, but I soon found I was not alone, and was promptly surrounded by loving family related to me through His blood.
Nowadays I have my kids Every Sunday. That just Rocks. No more wondering when/if they are going to make it there. I could go on with sob stories about their mom not bringing them to stuff, but instead let me add a rhetorical response to ZT's:

I go to church alone. Its probably best because sometimes I cry (no joke).

Respect to you brother, for you are Man enough to cry in public.
I find that church is one of the best places to do this, and refuse to restrain a single tear of joy or sorrow in the house of the Lord. In fact, I usually bring my own Kleenex. If I can't let myself feel what I am truely feeling when I am there, then where is it more appropriate to do so?

Awww, if I saw Zero sitting alone and crying in church, I'd go over and give him a hug, then invite him to go get lunch after church... topped off with brownies, of course!! :D

Now that's my kind of ministry. Do you know if you give a prophet a brownie, it's like a glass of water, you get a prophet's reward.

Thanks, Kenisyes!! I really enjoy the wisdom you share with us, and adore your stories of Anna *heart*.

Don't you know, John the Baptist conducted his ministry amongst the desert... and as for me?

Well, I conduct my ministry among the dessert!! :D

I usually go to church by myself, alone. Well, I am introvert, so I tend to be a loner :D Lately I am trying to find another church with sound doctrine. I had been going to a church for about 6 months and nobody tried to contact me or ask me if I am fine or if I liked the sermon, neither the pastor in spite of I gave him a letter to introduce myself. He never replied that letter, nor contacted me for more info. The last sunday I went to that church, I asked a young man for permission to sit dawn on one of the chairs next to him (narrow) and he said: sorry, the seats are occupied... 3 seat without people but I was not allowed to sit on them ... Yeah, I know I should be more friendly, but I am introvert :D Yesterday, I read this in a fb profile "If you meet a loner, no matter what they tell you, it’s not because they enjoy solitude. It’s because they have tried to blend into the world before, and people continue to disappoint them." I would like to go with someone to church, but my few friends goes to other pentecostal churches (I do not agree with some of pentecostal views), or they are not evangelicals, or they are married and busy.... So, I go to church alone, and that's not a big deal for me. My desire is to worship God and to learn from His Word. Well, maybe some of you will say something is wrong with me :D yeah.. all human beings have issues :D

Brownies are better than locusts and wild honey anyday.

Thank you, brother. Mine are usually tears of gratitude and sometimes just being overwhelmed by a feeling of God's love.

So I have a question then. When encountering a "holy huddle", how can one break into/past it?

I would love that, Kim! :D I actually stand in the back. Sitting makes me feel less connected for some reason.

I'm currently looking for another church, and I visit all services alone. It doesn't really bother me.
