do we or dont we follow the sabbath?

The Sabbath was changed by man from the seventh day to the first. It was not changed by our God. As for anyone who observes the Sabbath on the seventh day here telling others they must do the same, I have not seen it in general.

How many times have I, myself, posted that whatever day a person chooses as the Sabbath, as long as the conscience is clear before God, there is no sin. So, who is telling folks they must observe the Sabbath a specific way?

Does not anyone find it odd, bizarre even that some who insist on the Sabbath being on Sunday will not recognize the freedom of others to observe it as did Jesus Christ?

These are those same who cannot see the difference between Christ's fulfilling the law and destroying the curse of the law, that being the punishment and death.

The laws of good conduct will never be abolished or changed, and anyone teaching otherwise is teaching against the teachings of our Master, Jesus, Whom I love to call by the Hebrew transliteration, Yeshua.

This in no manner purports adding to or taking away from the teachings of Jesus. However this is an effort to help people see better by affording the light given by the Lord, Himself.

i think that it is ok to observe the sabbath if you like...as long as you are not doing it legalistically...

the reason sabbath keeping comes off as legalistic though is because so many sabbath keepers basically argue for sabbath keeping from the approach of 'i am obedient and you are not'...or more subtly...'why are you opposing me for being obedient'...thereby insinuating that non sabbath keepers are disobedient...

The sabbath is to be kept holy, it is not a question of being legalistic, rache, it is a question of, like you said, obeying Him. The Lord leads, ultimately, but keeping the sabbath 'holy,' as is one of the 10 commandments is something we are to still do today. Why wouldn't we want to keep it holy? ? Wait, DON't answer, just '...you follow Me.' John 21:22

Jesus was a Sabbath keeper. Even in His death Jesus rested in the tomb on the Sabbath, and did the work of resurrection after sunset on Saturday. The three women waited til Sabbath ended at sunset, to go to the tomb. When they reach the tomb, they found that Jesus was risen. It was still dark early the first day (Sunday) when these ladies reached the tomb. These ladies could have reached the tomb any time between sunset Saturday and sunrise Sunday. Jesus conquered death as soon as the first day of the week began; at sunset on Saturday. Therefore, when the ladies arrived, Jesus was risen.

To all who believe it doesn't matter which day of the week that we choose to observe the Sabbath, I am still waiting for an answer as to why not choose the day that God Himself sanctified.

One of my favorite gospel hymns; Just a Closer Walk, inspires me to keep the Sabbath. Because Jesus was a Sabbath keeper, I will be a Sabbath keeper.

Yea, Saturday was set apart. It's the biblical Sabbath day. The catholic church is the one who started the whole sunday thing.

I'm not implying we will burn in hell for not keeping Gods commands. I am sometimes required to work on the Sabbath. But, it is part of the creation story, that God sanctified the seventh day of the week (Saturday). God commands us to keep that day holy. Jesus, the disciples, the apostle Paul and the early church all kept the Sabbath.

Sometimes we need to get the ox out of the ditch. When Jesus preformed a miracle on the Sabbath, He explained that it is OK to save lives on the Sabbath. I believe that, if we are in the business of saving lives; doctors, nurses, fire fighters, police or military, or even if the livelihood of the family (putting food on the table) depends on our working on the Sabbath, we should work.
Still, with all this said, and given it is our choice, why not choose to obey Gods command when possible?

Yea, it actually says in the NT not to judge another in respect of Holy Days and such. I think it's important to at least acknowledge what the actual day is though. There's some people I've talked to that lived many years as a Christian without knowing that. It's not really taught in Church that often.

It was considered "work" by some of the pharisees, yes. But not according to the law of God. Christ did not "break" the sabbath. He kept it.

Our seven day week is but a SHADOW of the bigger picture. It is an excercise for mankind to do exactly what God had intended the commandment to be. To REMEMBER! Mankind has been working (good and evil) for about 6000 years now. What do we have to show for our labors? God has shown us by what we can SEE, the increase in the land. Name something that you desire or want now that is not in abundance now! I can now watch any movie or listen to any song on my mobile phone!

The truth is that NO MATTER WHAT ONE MAY BELIEVE OR HOW ONE ACTS, we ALL KNOW that we will one day die! This is knowlege shared among christians muslims jews hindus buddhists and all the world.

I have done some studying lately on this subject and have decided to follow the Sabbath. I find it funny that we follow all of the 10 commandments except for the 4th. Why is it the 4th commandment is such a source of contention for Christians? Could it be because that is the only commandment that something is asked of us? We don't make graven images, we don't commit adultery, we don't bear false witness, but yet we refuse to keep God's day holy. The Sabbath was never mentioned to become legalistic or a burden, but instead it's supposed to be a day that we delight in our Lord and saviour! Imagine if you will a day that you don't bother with the cares of this world but instead focus on the Creator, women, no shopping, laundry, dishes and such, just one day that you get into prayer, read your word, watch Christian movies, and don't think about your responsibilities, but instead think about your Lord, instead of thinking how to please your husband think instead of how to please your Lord. The more I think about it the more inclined I am to enjoy my first Sabbath, if praising and giving to God is legalistic or a burden, well I guess I'm legalistic then. I just can't see how giving one entire day to my God could possibly have any repurcursions!!

I agree, but I also know that it is legalistic in the sense that it is one of the "10 Commandments". Now as it's said in the fulfillment of "the law", having a day of rest does not mean you turn your back on common sense and humanity to do so, because then you do not fulfill the law, but destroy it. Jesus demonstrated this and gave the example of the sheep falling into a hole and why we should do what was necessary(What is right), on the Holy Day. Do you think God does not perform miracles and help others and punish others on this Holy day? He does all that is right but sanctifies the Sabbath as a day of rest.

Anyone who truly desires to know about the Sabbath, Shabbat, would go to the Bible, look it up in the Books of Moses, and then, providing he has accepted the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ for his own sins, would read and learn just how He, the Master, observed the Sabbath and what He taught on the subject. To simply repeat questions changing them around to sound different repeatedly is not sincere, not at all. Read the Word, and if you have accepted Jesus Christ for Who He is, believe the Word, otherwise, you will never learn anything that is eternal, nor what decent conduct is in this age, and the Bible is also a guide to decent conduct providing it is believed.
